This little raptor posed very nicely for me, but I'm still kicking myself for missing the flight shot. I was parked in the middle of the main road through Cherry Creek State Park, so I was concerned about traffic and took my eye away from the viewfinder to look in the rear view mirror to see if cars were approaching. When I looked back in the viewfinder, it was flying straight at me. I was too late to grab focus on what would have been a great flight shot. Oh well...

Today I shot LA band The Mae Shi for www.Supersweet.org. The Camera Obscura photos I posted recently were for them too (the review is live now). Was really pleased to be given the opportunity to do a band shoot. Frankly I bumbled through it a little and in some respects wasted the opportunity - and all I can say is thank [insert deity of choise] for Photoshop. But pleasingly it wasn't an unmitigated disaster. ;)
Genuinely nice bunch of guys too. And though I only discovered them properly 24 hours ago, I can thoroughly recommend their "Run To Your Grave" single.

We were invited to a wedding up by Lake Erie, so we decided to turn the weekend into a mini vacation. We left on Friday and drove through Lakeside, East Harbor State Park, with marinas all along the shore as we traveled to Marblehead, Ohio. We got us a room at a really nice hotel called the Lighthouse Resort, which had a great view of the lake and was close to the Marblehead lighthouse. East Harbor State Park is located on the shores of Lake Erie and has many types of outdoor recreation; including boating, fishing, swimming, picnicking and camping, plus nature enthusiasts can enjoy the abundance of waterfowl, shorebirds, and deer all found in the park's scenic wetlands.
