Great Tit [Parus Major]
A lovely afternoon brought literally hundreds of wee birdies to my feeders at The Pixies.
This Great Tit waited on a branch for a few seconds, before darting down to get a peanut. Sometimes, they will sit and eat sunflower hearts but normally they just swoop in, take a nut, and fly off, then come back and repeat the procedure. Apparently, they stash their food for later.

This incredible super mummy and Sumatran Tiger is called Kirana. I'm sure those photographers who were regulars at Chester Zoo will know her fondly because she is a natural at posing. I rest my case!!
Kirana is now enjoying retirement at the Big Cat Sanctuary, Kent. She clearly enjoys attention though, even on a hot afternoon and from what I observed yesterday, has settled in really well.

This is an image of Akira from my last morning in the Masai Mara in August.
We had found this beautiful female leopard the night before after searching for leopards for nearly a week. They were really hard to find in the Mara this summer because multiple well known females had been killed by aggressive male lions over the past year.
When we found her she had made two kills and dragged them up a tree, so we knew where to start our outing the next morning. We were the first vehicle on the scene and got this beautiful pose from her before she ascended for the balance of the morning.

I spotted this Heron while driving on the road that hugs the Pacific coast. He was perched on this rock about 30 meters off shore, and I thought there was no way it would stay put long enough for me to pull off the road, park and get close enough for a shot, but after clambering down a steep bank and traversing about 40 meters of football size rocks I made it to the waters edge. To my surprise he was still there, but facing me straight on, not exactly a flattering pose. He then turned sideways and gave me this profile, as if to say here you go, giving me time for a couple of shots before flying away.
This spotted towhee was calling me over, then wouldn't even look at me - so stand-offish! Still, I liked the pose, so I took the shot!
