One of four Red Shouldered Hawk chicks that just fledged two days ago. Just after a feeding session, this was the first one out of the nest and onto a nearby branch where it politely posed for a few shots. I felt it was nice of it to arrange itself so that the sun highlighted its face through the tree's branches. Hopefully they will still be around after Memorial day for more photos.
These Red Shouldered Hawks were shot in the wild. The wild in this case can be seen if you pull up the map and look at the satellite's picture, It is off of a 6 lane road and the trees are located in a 150 to 200 foot strip of land that butts up to a fence that houses the parking lot where I work. There are a lot of squirrels on the property which is why they set up the nest 2 years ago. The squirrels have gotten smart and left the area but the hawks stayed and are desensitized to humans since people are out there all day looking at them. There are around 150 people working in the building, I have been taking the shots from my car so I can use the inside roof to steady the 400mm lens when I take these shots hand held. the links below are to the map so you can see the "wilds" of AT&T and also see a larger view of this.

This young chap spotted me in Leeds, he asked me if I would like to take his photograph?
Of course I wanted to, he had great facial presence. He only gave me 30 seconds to recompose and then he was off.

So we spent a good 3 hours in my mini studio/3rd bedroom today taking pictures of each other, i was also teaching her manual settings, because lets face it Auto is PANTS!!
Anyway i have LOADS of favorites, but i don't want to flood your streams with her, so i'll drip feed them.
I love this one - it totally suits her personality, full of life :)
I was playing around with the white balance and got this one, i quite like the purple hues in the background.

Snowshoe hare
Newfoundland
Though you might think a snowshoe hare would be native to Newfoundland it is not. The only native hares are arctic hares which I did not see. Even though this hare has his/her summer coat, you can see the well insulated paws that make it easier and warmer to run through the snow.

This was an international meeting :) This picture was taken in the Netherlands, but we met this dog a few minutes before in Germany, he is a Spanish rescue dog and his German owner spoke Dutch :)

I saw this juvenile eagle far and the colour of it was nicely blended with the tree colour. It also creates a natural framed shot. Have a great day!!
Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) striking a nice pose, Loh Buaya Komodo National Park, Rinca Island, Indonesia. You can see a few ticks (Aponomma komodoense) on its side that blend right in with its pebbly skin. The Komodo dragon is the exclusive host of these parasites.
