Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) striking a nice pose, Loh Buaya Komodo National Park, Rinca Island, Indonesia. You can see a few ticks (Aponomma komodoense) on its side that blend right in with its pebbly skin. The Komodo dragon is the exclusive host of these parasites.

This a fairly young tricolored heron that I've been watching for quite a while. It seems comfortable to let me get fairly close and seldom leaves when I approach. This evening, it actually flew over to where I was walking and several times stopped and looked at me as if to try to figure out just what I was doing. Strange as it sounds, I do believe some birds recognize us.

A pair of roe does seen in a field a few minutes from where I live. This is a similar shot to one I uploaded a few months ago but this time of them in a slightly different pose and cropped much closer.
