Two waterfalls converge in the upper half of this shot, the one to the right is only present during the rainy season, when the water level is at its highest, giving rise to a phenomenon known locally as 'nam pa', or forest water. Some locals still believe this hazardous water-surge is created by the spirits of the land, and is intended to punish the humans who damage this natural environment. This yearly phenomenon claims the lives of many unwary adults and children nationwide... and this year I foolishly came the closest I've ever been to adding myself to the above statistic, even after 25-years of exploring this jungle!!! Lesson learned.

Seven Sacred Pools.

3 huge pools of processed fracking fluid a few miles from my dad's house. the run off from this also gave a friend of mine a rash.

this is located just behind a hill so the houses at the bottom of the image do not have a view of the pools (but the rest of the site is very visible).

On our recent trip to Skye we were lucky to have the Fairy Pools almost to ourselves. It may have had something to do with the stream you have to cross being in full flood and the paths covered with ice. It seemed to be a bit of a problem to the coachloads of tourists that were all wearing trainers!

Beautiful unspoiled place in Serra da Canastra, Brazil.

Many years ago my grandpa asked me if I wanted to go on a photography trip with him, and if I could go someplace where would it be. I listed off a few places, and one of the places I listed was the Big Sandy and Clinchfield. I was always fond of the scenery and countryside that was in the surrounding area of the two subs, and always wanted to go out to take some pictures.

Well, life got busy, and kind of messy, so the trip never happened. Flash-forward to almost 5 years later, Im living in a new state, my grandpa passed away, and my friend said he was going to be in the area, so I took a couple days off of work, to go out and get some pictures with him.

Pool Point was a shot that I’ve seen done hundreds of times, and was hoping to at least get get a single picture there. Luck was on our side, and we were able to get a train over Pool Point.

G766 had traveled all night up the Clinchfield, with daylight just starting before he got to Pool Point. Quite happy with how it turned out. Thanks for reading this essay I’ve just written. Thank you Papa for getting me into the hobby, and encouraging me to follow what I wanted to do, wish you were here to see what I'm doing now. This one is for you Papa.

Blue Pools, just out of Makarora in Mt Aspiring National Park. Kicking myself about the water drops but given the rain we were facing, I was lucky to get out with just them.
