Rock pools and sand pools are fascinating habitats and provide a home to a diverse range of plants and animals that have adapted to live in this harsh, ever-changing environment. Changing tides - The area is covered with water twice a day at high tide and drained of water twice a day at low tide. Only the pools retain water

Unfortunately getting this tiny waterfall prominent in the foreground means blocking off the mountains in the background. However it seemed like a worthwhile shot with the small area of sunlight directly on the subject.

Tidal pools at sunset, in situations like this you can seldom go wrong. With lots of 'messy' pools the hardest aspect is composition, I would like to believe that I got it right, I like to use the reflections to strengthen the light across the foreground. Thanks for looking :-)

At the foothills of The Black Cuillins are the Fairy Pools, a series of small waterfalls and crystal clear ponds on the River Brittle. Photogenic and very scenic hiking trail follows the stream and offers visitors beautiful views. Promoted as one of the most magical places in the Scotland, place you need to see before you die and so forth it is guaranteed you are not alone.

We visited the pools late Saturday afternoon and by some miracle managed to find a space to park our car. Equipped with hiking boots, we spent 2 hours walking upstream, enjoying views an Scottish spring weather (only sleet and rain, no hailstorms this time). Muddy path made sure 90% of the visitors hiked only up to first pool and turned back, missing the most beautiful scenes.

Even though weather wasn’t on our side, I managed to grab quite nice picture of the most famous pool.

At foot of the Black Cuillins near Glenbrittle, on the stunning Isle of Skye are the Fairy Pools, beautifully crystal clear blue pools on the River Brittle.

A short walk towards the base of the mountains lets you see them in all their glory. The fresh water running down the mountain side and into the valley below.

After a long week in northern Arizona I am finally home and ready to go through my photos. My time spent in Flagstaff was nice because of its central location near Antelope Canyon, Sedona, and the surrounding mountains. This was shot near Sedona at a spot known as the Seven Sacred Pools.

Nothing better that sticking on a pair of wellies to get into the water to grab that perfect composition. Stunning place.

Another picture from skye, this time from the fairy pools. Crystal clear water runs down the mountain into lots of different "pools". Really wanted to swim in them... Next time!
