I hadnt been to Santa Pod before. Yesterday's racing was washed out. The overcast skies today helped reduce difficult contrast, even if they did make some of the faster starts harder for the drivers.

At the end of July and the beginning of August, over around three weeks, tuna migrate through the entrance to the Mediterranean at the Strait of Gibraltar. At the same time this pod of orca come to hunt them.

Whilst out hoping to catch a sighting our captain heard that a group of Spanish fishermen were out. The orca can locate them and try to take some easy pickings instead of having to catch the tuna themselves. Sadly we didn't actually see that happen but the results of such a take can be seen here.

We followed this pod, which were all female, for a while. It was a fabulous experience. Sadly we didn't see them again for the rest of the week on our WDCS whale watching trip on the Turmares boat Rainbow.

Com a presença de varias autoridades esportivas, José Guilherme de Paiva tomou posse na Presidência do Minas Futebol Clube para o biênio 20015/20016. Com a presença do Secretario Municipal de Esporte e Lazer Cleudes Barbosa Oliveira, representando o Prefeito Municipal Helvécio Reis, Presidente da Liga Municipal de Desporto Luiz Carlos Baccarini, e o Presidente do Conselho Deliberativo do Clube Raimundo Antonio do Sacramento, o Minas parte para mais uma empreitada.

No pronunciamento do Ex-Presidente João Neves ele ressaltou: "A ausência de obras em sua administração, foi motivada por recursos inexistente. Convoco os membros do Conselho do Minas à autorizarem a venda de bens do Leão da Biquinha, para que não seja preciso decretar a insolvência do glorioso".

Já Guilherme de Paiva, Presidente empossado, destacou que com a volta da velha guarda do Minas, o clube poderá sim, sair da crise financeira em que se encontra.

Esteve presente a maioria absoluta do Conselho Deliberativo do Leão da Biquinha, demonstrando que os mineiros estão apostando no trabalho de Guilherme Paiva.

A Diretoria executiva do Minas Futebol Clube, esta composta com: Presidente: José Guilherme de Paiva; Vice-Presidente: Fabio Luiz de Oliveira e Silva; Diretor Social: Agostinho Bolognani; Diretor Tesoureiro: Giovanni Alves de Paula; Diretora da Piscina: Erika Moura Coelho Maldos; Diretor da Sauna: Joanino Lobosque; Diretor de Futebol: Wagner Baeta Borges; Diretor de Patrimônio: Rômulo do Pilar de Oliveira e Procurador Jurídico: Eduardo Luiz da Silva Lanna.

Claudio Gonçalves, Presidente do Athletic Club presente no evento ressaltou que, o Minas é um clube que faz parte da historia do esporte sanjoanense e um clube que teve Tancredo Neves como Presidente, não pode e não deve se curvar nas adversidades, "Acredito que o Leão da Biquinha vai encontrar forças para voltar a brilhar no cenário esportivo e social de São João Del Rei".

O Minas Futebol Clube completa no próximo ano seu centenário de fundação, e para comemorar esta data, a atual administração já iniciou os preparativos para marcar os 100 anos do Glorioso Leão da Biquinha.

I've known for a long time that Christian is incredible. Some days (like today), I learn just how incredible...

I spent the day shooting photos at a junior wheelchair track and field meet. The energy of dozens of volunteers and families made the day possible. For a few of my "littler" friends, this was their first competition. For some of the older athletes, this was but a stepping stone to international competition.

I didn't know all the rules, but that's often the case when I watch sports. I enjoyed the day immensely...so much so that I didn't realize that was being sunburnt to the shade of a cooked lobster. I thank everyone for the inspiring day...I have only myself to thank for the sunburn.
