A sure sign of summer is when the common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) is in bloom. You’ll find this plant in fields, meadows, and along roadsides. If you find milkweed, you’re also likely to find monarch butterflies. Monarchs need milkweed to survive. The butterfly lays its eggs on milkweed plants. The growing larvae (caterpillars) eat milkweed leaves. These leaves contain toxins- poisonous chemicals. These toxins don’t hurt the caterpillar, but they do make the caterpillar poisonous to most predators. Because it eats milkweed leaves as a caterpillar, the monarch butterfly is also poisonous. The survival of the monarch butterfly depends on this self-defense system provided by the milkweed.

I was just finishing my Masters degree in sculpture, when I took a Psychology of Art class. I had to present to the class Lacan's theory of the mirror image. I had more than monkeys jumping through my mind when I was in this class. It took the help of my Best Man Mike Wingate and my wife Alene to distill the meaning of Lacan. Basically, what I came up with form their help was you see yourself as a symbol, like the one you see in the mirror, never as your real self. Your symbol is made up of what everybody else has projected onto you. Before I dig a deeper hole for myself, and with the risk of my Prof. reading this, I'll end it with saying that I had envisioned this scene mid presentation as I was in front of a class of 30 brilliant MFA students as they were all asking questions.
What would a monkey's mirror image look like, I thought... well, this for sure would be it, a souvenir coconut monkey growing out of a genetically altered palm tree that was engineered to grow these souvenirs. This is one of my favorite paintings besides the Jonesey Shrine.

Wonderful sight off Berry Head, Devon this morning with a large pod of Dolphins. Counting 30 was easy and estimates of up to 40 were made. They were clearly finding plenty of food and they often circled around in an inward spiral. Hunting sometimes in line abreast. The clear water made spotting them fairly easy.

Después de conocer el Proyecto Expediente Virtual del Tribunal Superior de Justicia, funcionarios del Tribunal Estatal Electoral, analizarán las implicaciones y los retos que tendrán para implementar un programa similar al trabajo que desarrollan.
En virtud de la proximidad de elecciones y la posibilidad de que apliquen un Programa Digital similar al del Tribunal Superior de Justicia, el Licenciado Israel Lasoyo Goya, destacó que la decisión no depende del Secretario General del Tribunal Estatal Electoral.
Subrayó que son los Magistrados de la Institución quienes podrían responder, los que por cuestiones de trabajo no pudieron asistir a la visita programada a Ciudad Judicial Siglo XXI, específicamente al Juzgado Tercero Civil, Piloto del Proyecto Expediente Virtual que lleva adelante el Poder Judicial.
Lasoyo Goya, hizo hincapié en que durante este recorrido, personal del Departamento de Informática del Tribunal Superior de Justicia, les indicó que hay todas las posibilidades de que en el Tribunal Electoral pueda hacerse la adecuación para contar con el Sistema Digitalizado, porque obviamente –subrayó- tenemos que adecuarnos a las funciones del Tribunal Electoral.
El Secretario General del Tribunal Estatal Electoral, acompañado de funcionarios de esa Institución, durante el recorrido y después de haber escuchado la amplia explicación que sobre Expediente Virtual aportó la Jueza Tercero de lo Civil María Alicia Ortiz Márquez, mencionó que la visita tenía como objetivo básico conocer el Sistema Digital con el cual trabaja el Poder Judicial.
EXPLICACION DEL TRIBUNAL Y EXPEDIENTE VIRTUAL
El programa Tribunal Virtual tiene muchos beneficios, expresó la Jueza Tercero de lo Civil María Alicia Ortiz Márquez y analizó que el Juzgado a su cargo ha sido piloto en el proyecto Expediente Electrónico o Virtual.
Dijo que el Juzgado Tercero de lo Civil ha trabajado en coordinación con el Departamento de Informática, y se han logrado muchos avances.
Mencionó que se inició el proyecto con un sistema de búsqueda y localización de expedientes e hizo la aclaración de que anterior a la aplicación de esta tecnología, localizar un expediente en un libro llevaba alrededor de veinte días. Hoy, el usuario entra a la computadora, equipo que se encuentra en el área de oficialía y automáticamente sabe quién tiene su expediente.
Esto es un gran logro y avance, ya que la búsqueda y localización se realiza en promedio de diez a treinta segundos, enfatizó.
