You've seen this pinecone before in my stills.

I front lit with a desk lamp and backlit using my trusty old tray wrapped in aluminum foil as a reflector.

Using just close up filters, tried to capture the unique textures of the cone. Enjoy

Thank you for your visit, faves and comments

CC welcomed.

There are quite a few of these trees, Pinus strobus, on the avenues round me.

It is known as the White Pine in the USA.

View on black.

Hope you enjoy.

My son, Kyle, brought this pinecone home a few days ago. It looked interesting so of course I hijacked it so I could take some pics of it.

Pine cones along the Redtail Roost trail. Mount Laguna, California

What says Christmas more than glitter? It's usually all over the house for a month or two ....

When we were kids we used to collect cones and even cones on pine branches .. paint them or glue and glitter them... painstakingly ... with tiny brushes, some not so great glue, and glitter that came in who-knows-what for packaging. It took us ages.... and, then, we sold them to the neighbours for 25 cents. Our big wagon was empty by the time we got halfway down the block.

We had to hike back up the hill to find more cones....

It took me all of about 5 minutes to do this batch of 3 ... with an old cheap fuzzy brush... a bit of white glue which was getting kind of dry so I watered it down ... and a container of glitter with little holes for shaking on the stuff.... easy peasy.

I worked on a chunk of brown paper bag opened out..so that I can save the excess and put it back into the shaker for another time. It hardly used any of the glitter really.... I'll have enough to last a lifetime in a $7.00 container.

The other night I couldn't get to sleep because I had the idea for this pinecone pouch and I really wanted to make it. Last night I made it.

You wear it round your neck (adult or child) and you can put shells, acorns, buttons or any other treasuure in it.

I drew this from a pinecone that I picked up in Fitzroy Gardens. It looked so traditional and Christmas-sy that I added the writing, then decided to get it printed as a card. The cards arrived yesterday and look great except I cut the side of the page off when I uploaded them Grrr

So if you receive one in the mail that is the story behind it !

Ah, well. It's sort of interesting. Almost like wind in a painting.
