Actually the first work day after the 9th anniversary of us hiring Caney to work as our dog back in 1999, after interviewing him at North Shore Animal Shelter.
Although it may look like a relaxing day at the office with his head in the clouds, he actually completely shredded his paw pads on this trip. His hind paws were bloody by the end of the ascent/descent to exit out.
This is in part to two things, the humidity keeping his paws and the rocks wet, the slickness from the humidity on the rocks, the course NH granite, the trip up the King Ravine (which the RMC guide says "This trail is NOT recommended for dogs"), and just the general steepness off all three days hiking.
Ironically, I just recently STOPPED carrying the paw repair kit. Definitely back in the bag for now on.
As cute as he is this is one tough dog, it was 60F and 100% humidity when we got up at 5am at 4200ft. The hike out in the same humidity felt like we were walking through a sauna, and it only got warmer. While it's pretty oppressive for a human, I know it was worse on him. He was panting non stop from camp to the car which was over 5 miles and 3.5 hours of hiking.
Typically, the daytime highs at 4000-6000ft in the northeastern US are only in the low 60s with much lower humidity than down in the valleys.
It was so hot my gear was soaked before we left camp, and his fur was soaked, and it never actually rained. Suffice to say, this little break in the 30mph winds (when they did please us with a gust) was well earned.

Well, here is another in my [occasional series on containers](http://www.jezblog.com/index.php?showimage=1316) ........ Containers....... [For shipping and world trade](http://www.jezblog.com/index.php?showimage=1231&PHPSESSID=253e73527f577b8f5f3d5c19047cb3a1&reply_to=47309&PHPSESSID=253e73527f577b8f5f3d5c19047cb3a1)......... but right now Im really thinking of the containers.......... Yeah the actual containers themselves...... and what's in them...... if any of it could keep or would be worth keeping for a very long time........
Today I went to the [British Museum to see an amazing exhibition of 'The Book of the Dead'](http://www.britishmuseum.org/whats_on/all_current_exhibitions/book_of_the_dead.aspx) . Really it is looking at the religion of Ancient Egypt. The beliefs and spells to guide the dead of their time into the life everlasting........ Into the 'Field of Reeds'.
"The Field of Reeds. The God who is in it is Ra.
The very high mountain.
The Mound of transfigured spirits.
The Mound of Wenet. The god who is in it is the Destroyers of Souls.
The river of flaming fire.
The Mound of Kheraha. The god who is in it is Hapi."
(spell 150 names of the mounds of the Netherworld)
The book of the dead took the form of hundreds of spells written to protect and guide the spirit through the tests that they must pass to make it into eternal life and the prospect of riding with the Sun God Ra on his boat each day as he rode across the skies.
It's amazing that 3000 year old bits of papyrus survive to this day and are on display to pass on all that was sacred to the ancient Egyptians. Hey that in itself is a pretty amazing testament to the way they preserved their dead and the containers they buried them in ...... as each individuals book of the dead was buried with its deceased owner........ Often they almost clutched it ........ Mummified in it in their sarcophagus.
I don't know if any of our religious texts will stand a reading in 3000 years time......... or need to be stuck on to embalmed corpses......... and I wonder what of our civilization of now will still survive to be marveled at in a distant future.
I don't know what could, should or would survive. But Im not sure any of the stuff in these containers is it................
I'm not sure where you would put anything you wanted to keep....... something you wanted to be presented to the world in 3000 years from now........ maybe on the internet..........??????
Although Harv must be working on a pretty amazing series of catacombs under his house........ As today he tells me he unearthed an unopened box of........ :
"This is a FULL BOX of SEALED Agfa Record Rapid (50 sheets), a paper considered to be one of the best ever made.
Agfa stopped production of this paper in the 90's, it has acquired cult status as being 'state of the art' exhibition paper.
The box is factory sealed, unopened, undamaged and was safely stored in cool dark conditions. (see pictures)
This is a very rare opportunity, I doubt you'll see an unopened box again as they are simply not available anywhere.
Much of my portfolio is printed on this paper, if I still had a darkroom I'd keep it but I switched to digital years ago."
The like of such a valuable and rare find ........ can only be dug from ancient protected places........ Protected from the desert sun and away from grave robbers and sand vipers............ Yes it can only be found in ancient hidden rare places.......... er.......... or otherwise you can bid for it on ebay ........ hehehehehehehe.......... :

The Cathedral of Morelia is a religious compound headquarters of the Archdiocese of Morelia of the Catholic Church in Mexico. It is located as the name itself says it in the city of Morelia, capital of Michoacan, Mexico. The cathedral is located on the first frame of the city, forming the trace of the Historic Center of Morelia. The building was built in the eighteenth century the Spanish colonial times, is in Baroque style and is made of pink quarry which gives it a distinctive and characteristic color.
# Architecturally, the Cathedral of Morelia compared against other Cathedrals in Mexico is similar to the Metropolitan Cathedral in Mexico City, Puebla Cathedral, and even inside the Cathedral of Guadalajara.
# The cathedral is the most emblematic and representative buildings of Morelia given their height, since it has two tall towers that can be seen throughout the valley of the city. For his height, the towers of the Catedral de Morelia (66.8 m) are the fourth highest in Mexico after the towers of the Sanctuary of Guadalupe (Cathedral Unfinished) in Zamora de Hidalgo (105 m) of the cathedral in Villahermosa (80 m) and the Sanctuary of Guadalupe, San Luis Potosi (68 m).
# Has a unique scenic beauty lighting placed by the company that lit the Eiffel Tower in Paris. On weekends, the cathedral offers a sound and light show with this lighting.
# The cathedral is dedicated to the Transfiguration and its interior houses two highly venerated image, Sacred Heart of Jesus who is the patron saint of the city, and the Lord of the Sacristy a Christ very old paste made of cornstalks. Which is much visited and loved by the congregation.
# Its beautiful architecture and history are other reasons why it has become an icon of the city.
# Inside this enclosure because of its beauty, sound and spacious sound, set for a variety of artistic and cultural events as the International Organ Festival in Morelia, and the International Music Festival of Morelia.
The current cathedral of Morelia was not the only cathedral in the city has had since 1580, when civil and ecclesiastical powers were transferred from Patzcuaro Michoacan to Valladolid (Morelia previous name), opened a cathedral, much lower the current size and artistic value. That building was located on the corner of the present streets of Corregidor and Abasolo. However, due to growth experienced by the city at the end of s. Sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, and because of a fire in 1584 severely affected the former cathedral building, it became necessary to think of another temple, larger, robust and important. That is why at the beginning of s. XVII the cathedral chapter began efforts to build the new cathedral.
Many projects were proposed, but until mid-century the project was accepted by the Italian architect Vincenzo Barrochio, also known as the Plaster Vicente Barroso by the Viceroy Francisco Fernandez de la Cueva, Duke of Albuquerque on March 22, 1660 concluding continuous procedures and construction projects over a long period of almost 80 years.
On May 6, 1660 the first stone of the building was laid by Bishop Fray Marcos Ramírez del Prado. The building itself was given by Vicenzo Barrochio until his death in 1692, why the great architect could not see completed his monumental work. However, only 52 years after the death of the teacher, his pupils got through the daunting task of architecture, so that the magnificent work was completed in 1744.
The cathedral suffered several raids by the army for independence, in the year 1810. By the end of the nineteenth century built the perimeter fence that marks the atrium. In the late 90s of the twentieth century restoration work carried out various internal and external, thereby better preserved the beauty of the building. Also, in the early twenty-first century, opened the new stage lighting of the cathedral of Morelia.

The information below was obtained from Pillbox Study Group at
www.pillbox-study-group.org.uk/index.php/types-of-pillbox...
The official designation of this Pillbox was FW3/28a. Its shape is rectangular and was shell proof and designed to house a 2pdr anti-tank or 6pdr hotchkiss gun.
External walls are 3 feet 6 inches (1.1m) thick whilst the roof is 12 inches (30.5cm). Externally the pillbox measures 20 feet by 19 feet (6.1m by 5.8m) and internally the chamber measures 13 feet by 12 feet (4m by 3.6m).
At the front of the pillbox is the low and wide 2pdr gun embrasure. With the 2pdr gun in position the shield of the gun would have covered most of the embrasure, which measures 2 feet 6 inches (0.76m by 2m) internally, stepping out to 3 feet 2 inches by 11 feet 6 inches (0.96m by 3.5m) on the outside. Maximum traverse of the gun is limited to 60 degrees.
Generally, the pillboxes are positioned to allow the gun to fire along fixed lines, such as enfilading fire across an anti-tank ditch or a bridge. In these positions the limited traverse of the gun creates no real disadvantage and the small size of the embrasure provides greater protection for the gun and its crew.

Paprika is a spice made from ground, dried fruits of Capsicum annuum, either bell pepper or chili pepper varieties or mixtures thereof. The seasoning is used in many cuisines to add color and flavor to dishes, but it is usually associated with Hungary. It is also used in Greece, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Morocco,[1] and also Spain and Portugal, the latter countries having introduced capsicum annuum to the Old World from the Americas. The use of this plant rapidly expanded from Iberia throughout Africa and Asia,[2] and ultimately reached Central Europe through the Balkans, which were under Ottoman rule, explaining the Slavic origin of the modern English term. In Spanish, Paprika has been known as Pimenton since the 1500s, when it became a typical ingredient of the western region of Extremadura.[3] Despite its presence in Central Europe since the beginning of Ottoman conquests, it did not become popular in Hungary much more than one hundred years ago.[4]
Central European paprika was hot until the 1920s, when a Szeged breeder found one plant that produced sweet fruit. This was grafted onto other plants.[5] Nowadays, paprika can range from mild to hot, and flavors also vary from country to country, but almost all the plants grown produce the sweet variety.[5] The sweet paprika is mostly pericarp with more than half of the seeds removed, whereas hot paprika contains some seeds, placentas, calyxes, and stalks.

While taking this photo a girl next to me was also taking some shots at the same location, to my envy she was using a silver Nikon FM2n analog SLR camera. To my surprise, when she put down her camera and I saw her, it was Mandy, a good friend from flickr whom I've never met in person before, what a pleasant surprise it was. Just like Liyin DIP put it 'What a small world!'
In order to symbolize Mandy in the vast greens of Cameron Highlands tropical rainforest, I've uploaded this "flower wrapped around by the green leaves".

To Janie Cooper-Wilson, the Oro African Methodist Episcopal Church is a gold mine of history, culture and community, and recognition of its restoration by the province is incentive to use it as a beacon of hope.
“These awards aren’t given lightly,” said the historian, referring to the two Lieutenant-Governor’s Ontario Heritage Awards received by the Township of Oro-Medonte. “The church has the capability of bringing so many together.”
Last week, Mayor Harry Hughes, on behalf of the township, accepted the Excellence in Conservation Award and the Community Leadership Award for the Oro-African Church preservation project presented by the Ontario Heritage Trust and Elizabeth Dowdeswell, lieutenant-governor of Ontario.
“You never realize how important something is when you’re involved in it, but then you receive an award from the lieutenant-governor general for it, and you feel it’s significant,” said Hughes. “It’s a validation, really.
“It also indicates the values we’re pulling from: inclusiveness, celebrating diversity and working together for the betterment of all,” he added.
The awards were shared with some members of the community who had been involved with the project. As well, those attending the ceremony at council chambers on Wednesday evening viewed a 30-minute video titled, Revival, The Oro-African Church, made by Dave Sullivan, regional producer for Bell Media, documenting the restoration process.
“It’s nice to see it being renovated and coming to the final stage that it’s finished now,” said Twyla Banbury-Campbell, president-secretary Mitchell Square Women’s Institute in Oro-Medonte. “It was very interesting to see that they lifted the building and all the different steps. The gentlemen that did it, did an excellent job.”
Not only was the restoration well done, it also brought together people from varying backgrounds, said Harry Laur, of Barrie, whose wife had been involved in the steering committee of the project.
Cooper-Wilson said the church “connects to all the black sites in Ontario and it shows the collective history as well,” she said. “For so many years, it was pigeonholed as just black soldiers in the war of 1812, but they all had families.”
What worries Cooper-Wilson is that history may repeat itself.
“What’s going on right now with the immigrants trying to escape by crossing the border into Canada, our people did this back when,” she said. “This is just a repeat of the fugitives way back in 1850.”
Although she’s pleased with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s approach with open borders, Cooper-Wilson said she’s “absolutely appalled” at what’s happening in the United States of America. “I believe in the concept of what (President Donald Trump) wants to do, but he’s approaching it the wrong way,” she said.
But where the situation may look bleak, there’s hope for Canada to take the role of a leader in welcoming refugees, added Cooper-Wilson.
“United States was sitting there with a feather in the cap as the country that the world looked to, (but) I think it’s going to be Canada now,” she said. “And that church is the way to help the young ones to learn. It’s very important.”
The church on Line 3 North is being opened to the public as a satellite location for the Simcoe County Museum, with tours starting this spring, but that’s not where it should end, said Cooper-Wilson.
“I think the municipality is still on a learning curve,” she said. “My job was done when the church was built – I can step back and someone else can take the next roll – but we all have to do our part. It isn’t about one individual. It’s about all of us, where we don’t see colour or economic status; we see a family – Canada’s family.”
Revival, The Oro-African Church, is now available for public viewing via the township’s website at oro-medonte.ca.
The third operational period commenced in 1902 when Blinman copper mine was purchased by the Tasmanian Copper Co. A water-jacket blast furnace built by James Martin & Co. of Gawler was installed in 1904. The furnace produced 5-10 tons of 50% copper matte per day but required 600 tons of coke per month. Over 250 were employed during this period and teams of mules, horses, donkeys, bullocks and camels were used to transport supplies, copper and coke to and from Parachilna. The molten slag residue was tapped from near the base of the blast furnace into cast iron slag trolleys and dumped over the edge of the heap. Operations continued until 1907 when the mine closed due to falling copper prices and exhaustion of payable ore.

ENGLISH
The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Cacatua galerita, is one of the larger and more widespread of Australia's cockatoos. Frequently sought as a cage bird in and out of Australia, they can be so numerous that in crop-growing areas of Australia they are shot or poisoned as pests. Government permit is required though, as they are a protected species under the Australian Commonwealth Law.
They can be destructive to cereal and fruit crops, as well as timber structures such as house planking, garden furniture and trees.
The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is similar in appearance to the three species of corella found in Australia. Corellas are smaller, however, and lack the prominent yellow crest. There are a few regional subspecies within Australia.
Typically these birds will weigh around 800 grams. In most cases, male birds can be distinguished from Females with their almost black eyes, whereas the female has a more red/brown coloured eye. Their distinctive raucous call can be very loud; it is meant to travel through the forest environments in which they live, including tropical and subtropical rainforests. These birds are naturally curious creatures, as well as very intelligent. They have adapted very well to European settlement in Australia and live in many urban areas.
Sulphur-crested cockatoos may no longer be imported into the United States as a result of the Wild Bird Conservation Act. However, they have been bred in captivity. The potential owner should be aware of the bird's needs, as well as how loud these birds can be and their natural desire to chew wood and other hard and organic materials.

Aster (syn. Diplopappus Cass.) is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. The genus once contained nearly 600 species in Eurasia and North America, but after morphologic and molecular research on the genus during the 1990s, it was decided that the North American species are better treated in a series of other related genera. After this split there are roughly 180 species within the genus, all but one being confined to Eurasia. The name Aster comes from the Ancient Greek word ἀστήρ (astér), meaning "star", referring to the shape of the flower head. Many species and a variety of hybrids and varieties are popular as garden plants because of their attractive and colourful flowers. Aster species are used as food plants by the larvae of a number of Lepidoptera species. Asters can grow in all hardiness zones.
The genus Aster is now generally restricted to the Old World species, with Aster amellus being the type species of the genus, as well as of the family Asteraceae. The New World species have now been reclassified in the genera Almutaster, Canadanthus, Doellingeria, Eucephalus, Eurybia, Ionactis, Oligoneuron, Oreostemma, Sericocarpus and Symphyotrichum, though all are treated within the tribe Astereae. Regardless of the taxonomic change, all are still widely referred to as "asters" in the horticultural trades.
In the UK there are only two native members of the genus: Goldilocks, which is very rare, and Aster tripolium, the Sea aster. Aster alpinus spp. vierhapperi is the only species native to North America.

Here future Lovers, when in Troops they come,
Venus, to visit thy distinguish'd Dome,
As thro' this consecrated Shade they pass,
Shall offer to the Genius of the Place.
Shift now the closer Scene: and view around,
With various Beauties the wide Landskip crown'd.
Here level Glades extend their length'ning Lines,
There in just Order the deep Quincunce shines.
Here chrystal Lakes reflect contiguous Shades,
There distant Hills uplift their azure Heads.
Round the free Lawn here gadding Heifers stray,
And frisking Lambs in sportive Gambols play.
There murmur to the Wind Groves ever-green,
And inter-mingled Buildings rise between:
The Sun declin'd with milder Glory burns,
And the fair Piece with various Light adorns.
Lo! in the Centre of this beauteous Scene,
Glitters beneath her Dome the Cyprian Queen:
Not like to her, whom ancient Homer prais'd,
To whom a thousand sacred Altars blaz'd:
When simple Beauty was the only Charm,
With which each tender Nymph and Swain grew warm:
But, Yielding to the now-prevailing Taste,
In Gold, for modern Adoration, drest.
For her the Naiads, in their watry Bed,
Amid the level Green a Mirror spread;
Along whose terass'd Banks the shelt'ring Wood,
Defends from ruder Winds th' unruffled Flood.
Missouri Mines State Historic Site View On Black
Nestled deep within the eastern Ozarks is an area known as the Old Lead Belt; it is a major part of the great Southeast Missouri lead district, the premier lead mining district of the world. The mining industry in this area has played an important role in Missouri's economic and social fabric for more than 280 years. Missouri Mines Sate Historic Site preserves the historically significant structures and artifacts of the largest mine-mill complex in the Old Lead Belt, and interprets the historic role of mineral resources and the mining industry in Missouri.
Pierre Charles LeSeur led the first European mineralogical expedition into the Mississippi Valley in the early 1700's. Two decades later, word came of a "shiny gray mineral...that was everywhere, often lying on the surface of the ground." These early explorers discovered that blanket-like lodes of galena, many feet thick, lay just below the earth's surface. This plentiful mineral is the primary lead ore still mined today in Missouri. The ore deposits have made Missouri the nation's major source of lead for more than 100 years.
The demand for lead resulted in economic development, which brought major corporate enterprises, deep multileveled underground mines, sophisticated underground railroads, and the influx of thousands of workers to the Old Lead Belt. More than 1,000 miles of abandoned multilevel mine tunnels that underlie the region and 300 miles of underground mainline railroad tracks that connected various shafts and mills are testimony to the 108 years of persistent mining operations in this area. Today, these mines, flooded naturally with ground water, provide a water supply for Park Hills and surrounding communities.
In 1864, St. Joseph Lead Company purchased nearly 950 acres at Bonne Terre, Missouri. The company soon rose to dominance over it's competitors because of it's innovations in ore-smelting, underground engineering technology and the development and use of mechanical equipment. In 1923, the company purchased the Federal Mill No. 3 lead-concentrating complex and improved the mill to become the largest lead mill in the world. It remained in operation until 1972.
In late 1975, the company donated the Federal mine-mill complex, along with adjoining lands, to Missouri for use as a state park. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources took possession of the 8,244 acre tract in 1976, subsequently naming it St. Joe State Park. In 1980, the 25 acre mine-mill was designated as Missouri Mines State Historic Site.
At it's peak, the complex consisted of 25 buildings, including the powerhouse, head-frame and primary crusher, mill, flotation plant, filter and dryer building, machine shop, carpenter shop, sawmill and electrical shop. Currently, the 19,000 square-foot powerhouse is under development as a Missouri mining history and mineral resources museum.
The first of the three museum galleries in the powerhouse contains underground mining equipment, such as the St. Joe Shovel, a man-carrying "speeder" and "electric mule" locomotives that replaced men and mules for moving cars of ore.
The second gallery includes exhibits on lead, geology and mineral resources, and features an outstanding systematic mineral collection, as well as an array of fluorescent minerals. A small theater is used to show a 12-minute video depicting underground mining and the ore milling process in the Old Lead Belt as an introduction for visitors. This gallery also features a Museum Shop, where related books, minerals, mineral jewelry, rock hound equipment and souvenirs may be purchased.
The third gallery contains giant air compressors that supplied air power underground to run the pneumatic drills and other equipment. This gallery eventually will contain exhibits on mining history and technology.

About the Pudú
The pudús (Pudu), considered to be the world's smallest deer, are native to South America. There are two species of pudú: the Northern pudú (Pudu mephistophiles) from Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile[1], which stands about 12 to 14 inches (32 to 35 cm) at the shoulder; and the Southern or Chilean Pudú (Pudu puda) from southern Chile and southwestern Argentina[1], which averages between 14 to 16 inches (36 to 41 cm)[2]. Males sprout small (7-10cm) antlers which are shed annually.
Both species of pudú subsist on a diet of grass, leaves, and fallen fruit. In the wild, their life expectancy is between eight and ten years. The Southern species is endangered (IUCN status: vulnerable), primarily due to hunting and habitat loss from human agriculture and land development.
The pudú has several interesting characteristics that distinguish it from other deer. It is able to climb fallen trees, and it is sometimes forced to do so, both to escape predators and reach food. Because of its small size, it is often forced to balance on its hind legs to reach foliage. When threatened, it barks in alarm.
Because it lives in the dense forests of South America, it requires an efficient way to travel throughout the undergrowth. Pudú maintain a complex system of paths and trails that allow them to quickly get from one place to another. Such paths often lead to excellent places to rest, mate or find food.
Pudú mate between April and June, and gestation periods range from 200 to 220 days, giving birth to one or occasionally two young.
Its predators are typically eagles, owls, cougars, foxes, and small cats.

Walking through a dream
I see you
My light in darkness breathing hope of new life
Now I live through you and you through me
Enchanted
I pray in my heart that this dream never ends
I see me through your eyes
Living through life flying high
Your life shines the way into paradise
So I offer my life as a sacrifice
I live through your love
You teach me how to see
All that’s beautiful
My senses touch your world I never pictured
Now I give my hope to you
I surrender
I pray in my heart that this world never ends
I see me through your eyes
Living through life flying high
Your love shines the way into paradise
So I offer my life
I offer my love, for you
When my heart was never open
(and my spirit never free)
To the world that you have shown me
But my eyes could not division
All the colors of love and of life ever more
Evermore
(I see me through your eyes)
I see me through your eyes
(Living through life flying high)
Flying high
Your love shines the way into paradise
So I offer my life as a sacrifice
And live through your love
And live through your life
I see you

This used to be the house of Dr. and Mrs. William J. Mayo. They gave their home to the Mayo Foundation in 1938 for a meeting place where people in medicine could exchange ideas for the "good of mankind." This gift fulfilled a dream the Mayos had when they first planned the house around 1915, and then built it between 1916 and 1918. The impressive home contained 47 rooms arranged on 2.5 levels and had a five-story tower. Its design was reminiscent of an English manor house.
Over the years, Mayo Foundation House has been a prominent facility in Mayo's educational programs. It continues as a significant meeting and gathering site for educational activities and social functions that recognize outstanding achievements by Mayo Clinic staff. In 1975, the home was included in the National Register of Historic Places. (mayoclinic.org)

Broad Pool lies in a shallow basin on the limestone plateau beneath Cefn Bryn. It is one of the most conspicuous and best-known features of central Gower. The pool is known to have been in existence in 1645. Its origin appears to have been natural, although there is evidence that the pool was modified by scouring (removal of sediment and vegetation) from the late Eighteenth century.
The Pool contains a rich assemblage of aquatic plants, including Lesser Marshwort and Alternate Water-milfoil, both rare in South Wales. Fringed Water lily is present and has dominated the aquatic vegetation in the past. This attractive and uncommon plant is only native in a small area of southeast England and was introduced to Broad Pool in around 1952.
The Pool is visited by a wide range of waterfowl and wetland birds, including Grey Heron, Little Grebe, with passage migrants such as Ruff and Spotted Redshank. It is locally important breeding site for amphibians and supports a rich aquatic invertebrate fauna, including fourteen species of dragonflies and damselflies.
The adjacent area of Bog and moor is dominated by heath plants such as Cross-leaved Heath and Heather with Purple Moor-grass, Rushes, Bog Myrtle and Round-leaved Sundew in the wetter areas. The heathland and area around Broad Pool is also of ornithological importance with nesting Snipe and Lapwing in summer and Hen Harrier, Merlin and Short-eared Owl regularly recorded in winter months.

Jermaine Riley might not be a household name just yet but he's certainly worth keeping an eye on.
Hello Earth is Jermaine's latest release following his previous records; Goodbye Krypton (which was his debut record) and Nine Ten Eleven - The Refixes (which was composed of remakes). Both of which along with a couple of his singles are all available for free download, just like this latest one.
Mixing soulful R&B with a cool hip hop dance rhythm, Hello Earth makes for a great club album or something to hold on to if you simply need some smoothing tracks for evening company.
Former member of Brit pop and R&B group, FMD, Jermaine Riley is slowly but surely carving a name for himself in the scene as a solo artist. Showcasing his love for one of the most well-known superheroes the world over, Superman; Riley packs Hello Earth with 11 cuts that range from R&B mellow mixes to upbeat dance cuts.
Paying homage to the creators of Superman, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster; the album chronicles Superman's transition from leaving Krypton and moving to Earth. I guess, you can say it's a concept album of sorts. The songs are both catchy and easy to listen to. You'll find traces of Ne-Yo, Usher and Chris Brown as you listen.
Track like Smallville beautifully features Jermaine's vocal range. It's a sweet song that you can pop onto your player and enjoy without much fuss. A few must-listen cuts include Wonder Woman ft. Lioness; Peaceful Day ft. Cherri V and of course, title track, Hello Earth.
Jermaine Riley is an artist that you shouldn't miss out on especially if you love R&B. Unlike his previous releases which featured covers or 90s samples, Hello Earth is all about the artist. It comes with original cuts and a nice (not to mention) fresh take on the concept album. Really enjoyable piece that you should be downloading right now.
An 18th century gargoyle ‘Dinemonyo’ altar table
Estimate: PHP 1,800,000 - 2,000,000
1st half, 18th century
Manila
Balayong wood, engraved metal mounts
84 x 109 x 72 cm (33 x 43 x 28 1/2 in)
Provenance:
Formerly from a prominent family in Manila
Called colloquially as dinemonyo table, it is one of the most elusive pieces of early Hispano-Filipino furniture, considered arguably as the pinnacle object to many serious furniture collectors and connoisseurs. An authentic example with original members is an extremely rare find. The earliest altar tables made by Chinese artisans residing in Batangas were copied from Ming dynasty tables as they both shared the same simplistic, rectilinear profile – a product of pragmatic design and simple joinery based on practical rather than aesthetic considerations. Later on, masks that resemble gargoyles on the knees above the legs and ball-and-claw feet were added as ornamentals. At first commissioned by friars for exclusive use in churches, later emulated by the affluent principalia and ilustrado families on which to display their venerated ivory santos. In other cultures, as from 6th century Japan, roof ornaments made from fired clay, stone, or wood called Onigawara gargoyles have been used in Buddhist temples to stop leaks. In European architecture, medieval cathedrals have had carved grotesque creatures with spouts to redirect water from the roof away from the side of the building to prevent the erosion of the mason work. The gargoyles are supposedly illustrated evil as they are intended to turn away evil and harm. Among the Chinese, guardian lions made of stone were placed in front of imperial palaces and tombs, temples, and government offices as they were believed to have powerful protective benefits.
The rectangular paneled top is enclosed by a frame with ice-plate edge to soften the edges and disguise its thickness. Below are two large drawers fitted with umbrella bosses, ornate protective key plates, and O-ring pulls. Reinforced at the sides by flanges with billowing, cloud-like outlines, so do the aprons that connect the gargoyle or ‘demonyo’ masks on all four corners. These demonyo masks have raised fluted top hair, bulging eyes, prominent nose, mouth agape revealing some teeth and fangs, and scrolling facial hair, striking a menacing and powerful demeanor. The cabriole legs show the delineations of the lion’s lower leg before terminating in deep, highly detailed ball and claw foot grasping a ball, resting on round-edged stretchers surmounted on ogee feet. Assembled using ancient Chinese mortise and tenon (closed and through types), as well as dovetail, the joints remain firm and strong.
Made of highly prized indigenous rosewood known as balayong (Afzelia rhomboidea), it has reddish brown color that tends to darken even more with age and has natural luster. Very difficult to work on due to its durability and interlocking grain. The craftsmanship and condition of this table is comparable to, if not better, than some similar tables kept in museums and top-notch private collections.

REAL BASILICA DE ATOCHA
www.madridhistorico.com/seccion3_descubremadrid/nivel2_ru...
One of the sweetest sites I have seen! I was in the Louvre museum and every one was so freaking busy capturing almost everything that came in their frame!
Enjoy seeing it Large On Black screen
I saw this couple and it was like a "Lost in Translation" kind of a feeling. For one moment, life paused and I felt like capturing this instant! I like the romance that is going around! Isn't it cute?
This picture is a part of my collection called the I Love You set. I had no intentions to make a dedicated set for some thing like that but eventually, a group of romantic photos just kept of bundling in my account. This group of photos depict expressions related to the feeling of...

View On Black (I hate how square photos are *smaller* when you view them in the Flickr lightbox.)
Make sure you view this with your screen quite bright... But I think my screen isn't very bright to begin with so you're probably fine. :)
Okay, here are my ten facts! I was tagged by Erin ♥LivingGrace.
1. This is my brother. :) He's fourteen.
2. He was kind of nervous about me taking pictures of him... This is the only photo I got where he didn't panic and pull a funny face haha.
3. I know it's ridiculous how I always fall back on Harry Potter when I have to write ten facts, but I am currently having an HP book marathon. :) I'm up to Goblet of Fire.
4. Harry Potter's awesome.
5. I cannot wait for the Deathly Hallows movie.
6. Hmm. I just remembered these are supposed to be ten facts about ME. Oh well!
7. I am an extremely eclectic person in taste, as you can probably tell in my photography. I'm the same, if not worse, with my clothes and music taste.
8. I got my learner's permit last spring, I'm probably going to take driving classes this fall...
9. I didn't know you could get your learner's permit at fifteen in Florida! D:
10. My favorite TV show is probably House by now. They've cancelled so many of my favorite shows this year! D: I do love House though, you should watch it.
Possibly the most random 10-facts in the history of the world.
If I tagged you it's because I love your photos and I want to know more about you. :)

It’s a sad song so keep the tissues handy . .
For several years a pair of swans on Pittville lake has successfully bred and raised their young.
However, in May 2007, eight cygnets hatched on April 25 but all disappeared from the park.
In 2008 the swans hatched nine cygnets on about April 29th and all was well until the second week of June when the mother was killed by a fishing hook. A week later a seven-week-old cygnet was rescued after swallowing a fishing line which had no hook attached.
The father is now very protective of his brood and took umbrage to my trying to photograph his family, but I managed to sneak this shot of one of his lovely cygnets before he tried to eat the Canon G2.
