Had to be posted didn't it....

South Carolina National Guard Soldiers, and fire department/EMS rescuers with the S.C. Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team (SC-HART) program, S.C. Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 1 (SC-TF1), perform hoist-training operations during the preliminary phases of “Patriot South Exercise 2017” (Patriot South 17), a joint training-exercise focused on natural disaster-response and preparedness, Gulfport and Port Bienville Industrial Complex (PBIC), Mississippi, Jan. 29, 2017. Patriot South 17 is taking place at multiple locations across Mississippi, from January 23 through February 7, 2017, and it offers the National Guard and its local and federal partners a realistic-training opportunity to test response capabilities, procedures, and readiness through a simulated earthquake and Tsunami scenario “hitting the coastal areas of the state.” Specifically, in preparation for future operations, South Carolina’s Headquarters and Headquarters and (-) Company A 2-151st Security and Support Aviation Battalion, 59th Aviation Troop Command, deployed both its current HART-capable platforms, the UH-60L Black Hawk utility helicopter and its LUH-72A Lakota light utility helicopter--the latter being a recent addition to the HART program for South Carolina. In the starting stages of trying to capture the moon through its various stages, via the telescope.

August 6, 2019 - I decided my kitchen needed a facelift. This all started because my dishwasher detergent cup no longer locks it broke in late June. The dishwasher was in the house when I purchased it in 1995. It is probably 30 - 35 years old so it was time to replace it. I was just going to replace the dishwasher however the previous owners put a new tile floor in which blocks the dishwasher from being easily replaced. I was never content with my kitchen the only work I have done to it was to replace the original drop-in oven which didn't work when I bought the house and the matching harvest gold exhaust hood was replaced with a white exhaust hood. I painted the walls yellow in 1996. The oven I bought in 1995 died in March 2018 so the oven is only a year old. I also replaced the kitchen faucet last August. I thought about just maintaining the faucet but decided to upgrade to a faucet with a pullout sprayer.

I engaged KitchenSaver to replace the cabinet doors and drawer fronts, countertop and sink. I want the kitchen to look brand new so hired a contractor to strip nearly 100 years worth of paint off the pantry and basement doors, door frames, window, window frame and sill and repaint the woodwork and walls. The contractor will also be installing wood base since the base was removed by a previous owner. I am also installing a Subway tile white backsplash which will go up to the bottom of the wall cabinets and on either side of the window.

I am a retired architect and it was fun getting back into design. I knew exactly what I wanted and took me no time at all to select everything.

I am going with an Arts and Crafts oak cabinet and drawer fronts. The wood stain is nearly a perfect match to the house woodwork and my furniture. Door and drawer pulls are bronze/copper in the Arts and Crafts style.

I also bought new light fixtures for the kitchen and dining room both with a bronze finish. KitchenSaver will be installing five dimmable LED lights below the cabinets and above the sink.

I decided to add a recycling/trash cabinet and pantry cabinet to fill in the dead space between the refrigerator and wall this necessitated the removal of the existing quad outlet that the refrigerator is plugged into. (no outlet behind the refrigerator) In order to do any electrical work in my house I had to bring the existing electrical circuit breaker panel up to current codes. Which meant I needed to replace the existing electrical circuit breaker panel. I had a duplex outlet added behind the refrigerator. With the new circuit breaker panel I now can use the microwave oven and toaster oven at the same time. What a concept! I also replaced the old fashion knob and tube light switch which controls the basement light. The old switch scared me and wasn't safe.

New window treatments for the backdoor and window. I wasn't able to find a blind which matches the Sherwin Williams Indian White SW 1035 paint color so I am going with a Levelor Cordless Cellular blind that is an exact match to the Sherwin Williams Koi Pond SW 7727 wall color.

One last improvement the contractor got paint stripper on the existing oven exhaust hood so I replaced the hood with a new black hood which matches the oven.

The church of Providence is a Protestant church on the main street in the old town of Heidelberg. Until the Church Union of 1821 it was the Church of the Lutheran congregation while the Reformed congregation gathered in the Holy Ghost Church.

History

The church of Providence was built from 1659 to 1661 according to plans by Theodor Reber. It stands on the site of the former electoral Garden of the Lords. Since the church was built on the initiative of the Elector Karl Ludwig, whose motto was Dominus providebit (lat. The Lord will provide), it was named church of Providence. In the big city fire in the mainframe of the Palatine War of Succession in 1693 it was destroyed but rebuilt from 1715 to 1721 under the supervision of Johann Jakob Rischer. From 1878 to 1885, the interior by Hermann Behaghel was completely rebuilt arising a bright church hall in Neo-Renaissance style.

Architecture

The church of providence was built as a one-naved hall church with ridge turret. After reconstruction it obtained 1717-1721 on the north side a tower. Above three storeys with white plaster surfaces and a cornice rises the octagonal provided with ornaments belfry of red sandstone with an encircling balustrade. The slate roofing of the bell house and the lying above lantern are designed as Welsian hood. On top of the tower is a ball with a cross and cock.

The white plastered outer walls with arched windows and lying below transverse oval openings have the destruction of 1693 as well survived as the gable wall of the north side. Originally all the windows were executed in post-Gothic tracery, still preserved is the tracery only on the northern gable wall. Also preserved have been the keystones with angel face at the nave windows. The church roof was designed 1698 as slate-covered mansard roof newly.

The interior has been completely redesigned in the 19th century in two phases. After the choir loft in 1852 was dismantled and the Baroque organ was moved to the north gallery, emerged on the site of the organ in the choir a new central window with a blessing Christ figure in the style of the Nazarenes, probably from the workshop of Heinrich Beiler the Elder, the leading Heidelberg glass painter of Historicism. In a second renovation phase 1878-1885 the architect and church building inspector Hermann Behaghel created the in much existing still today spatial impression of neo-Renaissance. Behaghel the old galleries had dismantled and built symmetrically to the axis of the church one-storied galleries on three sides. The choir with altar and pulpit is put down by steps and balustrade. The stucco ceiling is also a re-creation of Behaghel. The two lateral choir windows show Grand Duke Karl Friedrich (left) and Elector Ottheinrich (right) and in 1886 donated of the University of Heidelberg on the occasion of five hundred years of existence.

Organ

In the church of Providence stands Heidelberg's oldest preserved organ. It goes back to an instrument from the workshop of the organ builder Matthias Burkard from the year 1885.

Jahrhundert in zwei Phasen völlig umgestaltet.

Orgel

In der Providenzkirche steht Heidelbergs älteste erhaltene Orgel. Sie geht zurück auf ein Instrument aus der Werkstatt des Orgelbaumeisters Matthias Burkard aus dem Jahr 1885.

Phase two of my bike re-sexing: derailleurs, front brake, reflectors, and all other unnecessary bits removed. Wood handle bars added. All it needs now is the rear wheel I will be building up from my Craigslist Hub once I get my rim in the mail and the new saddle I am treating myself to.

Hmm, which phaser to take with my costume tomorrow? I know, neither one is screen-accurate for the uniform...

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. Ball Aerospace technicians prepare the Deep Impact flyby spacecraft for installation of the flight battery at Astrotech Space Operations in Titusville, Fla. About the size of a Ford Explorer, the flyby spacecraft is three-axis stabilized and uses a fixed solar array and a small NiH2 battery for its power system. A NASA Discovery mission, Deep Impact will probe beneath the surface of Comet Tempel 1 on July 4, 2005, when the comet is 83 million miles from Earth. During the encounter phase when the comet collides with the impactor projectile propelled into its path, the spacecrafts high-gain antenna will transmit near-real-time images of the impact back to Earth. The spacecraft is scheduled to launch Jan. 8 aboard a Boeing Delta II rocket from Launch Complex 17-B at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. Not far from where we live there is a large terrain, a former factory site, with community garden where lots of people cultivate vegetables, keep chickens and grow flowers. There is also a playground and two small football areas. The local community sometimes has festivals on the terrain, next to the gardens.

In the fall of 2010 or spring of 2011 this will alle be demolished to give way to a place with new homes and a park by 2013. I have mixed feelings about this: we are quite nearby and don't feel like living next to a construction site for the next two years. On the other hand: more housing is what Ghent needs (according to some).

So... we'll see. If it gets too noisy, we'll move.

If you want to know more: the project is "Bruggen naar Rabot - Gasmetersite"

A view of Phase I's most interesting and undoubtedly iconic sight from a window of Phase II's stairwell. A true sight to behold and a total jumble of unorganised structures. I love it (no sarcasm).

An old Electro-Harmonix pedal from the dawn of time that I've owned since shortly after the dawn of time.

When I lived in Rhode Island I bought a little solid-state Electro-Harmonix amp for like $25. It was called a Mike Matthews Dirt Road Special. Nothing much to it. It had a Celestion speaker and a little 25-watt solid-state amp. It also had a built-in Small Stone Phase Shifter. It was actually a really cool little amp and I used it as a practice amp for years. Fell in love with the Small Stone while I had it. It was basically a little sealed speaker box with a few circuit boards and a transformer inside. I don't even recall when or why I sold it. I mean, it was a very basic amp. Just a tone control and a presence control. No overdrive of any kind. But with the Small Stone running on a slow rate it was a very trippy-sounding clean amp. And the Celestion sounded good.

Anyway, long before I got rid of the Dirt Road Special I'd bought this. I'm not sure why nothing seems to sound like it, but I've always really liked the specific sound of the Small Stone. Probably because I got the Dirt Road Special in my early 20's and I got used to the sound of a phaser being the sound of the Small Stone. Or it could be because the Small Stone uses Operational Transconductance Amplifiers instead of regular op-amps like almost all the other phasers out there.

Whatever it is, I've owned a whole bunch of phasers over the years. TC Electronics, Mutron (the Mutron was called a 'Phasor' instead of a 'Phaser'), Boss, Korg...and for some reason this is the one I like most.
