McDonnell Douglas Phantom FGR.2 XV408 at the 1992 IAT Airshow held that year at A&AEE Boscombe Down. Resplendent in a overall Blue colour scheme acquired in 1991 to commemorate 92 Sqn end of Phantom ops in Germany. Now part of the collection at the Tangmere Aviation Museum West Sussex.
Fog spills over Narrowneck plateau into the neighbouring Megalong valley causing the local phenomenon, phantom falls.
Standing in this location at sunset was an epic experience. I just can't get enough of Phantom Falls, and for quite some time I have wanted a shot of the Phantom at either sunset or sunrise. Sunrise would be much more ideal this time of year, but a few months ago the position of the sun would have been perfect to light up the entire canyon (realized that after this one...miscalculated a bit).
Ben and I stayed all the way until the afterglow light was gone (more to share from the other side of the canyon), and it was an eerie walk back to the car in the pouring rain, cross country to the car, dodging cow patties and trying not to break an ankle on the loose rock. Ben wanted to stay and take turns light painting cow patties for a sweet foreground with that huge tree near the parking lot in the background, but I thought we better pack it up and get back to our ever so patient wives (J/K!!!;-) I would imagine that wildflowers have completely exploded up there now, and only have a short time left. Hope you enjoy, let me know what you think!
11/2017 - NS 5338 GP38-2 has a new admiral cab. We also see NS 7210 SD80MAC in the deadline with cab fire damage. I believe the green-roofed car is NS 15.
This is a minifig-scale model of "The Phantom", the shuttle from the TV series "Star Wars Rebels". It's about a foot long and has a full interior, with working hatches at the rear and on the underside.
Many thanks to Ryan McBryde for letting me use his nose and cockpit design - and also for his help and suggestions in creating this model.
I also have a thread for this model on Eurobricks:

Update: Many, many thanks to monekypaws for making the instrctions available for free on rebrickable - link here.
This page contains both a step-by-step set of instructions and a parts list. The details section contains a list of rare parts to check before attempting a build.
The early morning sun highlights the spectacular volcanic rock formations of the famous Phantom Curve at Milepost 312.30, as D&RGW K-27 Locomotive #463 works west toward Cumbres Pass with a short freight train.
One of the interesting things about the former D&RGW line from Antonito, CO to Chama, NM is that there are many prominent and memorable locations on this line and most of them have names, some of which date back to the early days of the Denver & Rio Grande. Such is the case with this one. Apparently, D&RG crews often made the run through here at night and the oddly shaped volcanic rocks and spires cast shadows that appeared to dart about in the glow of the locomotive headlights. This, combined with the squealing of the flanges on the tight curves created a very eerie environment for the engine men as they negotiated this section of the line, leading to the name "Phantom."
This image was captured during an October 2024 photo shoot on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, organized by Lerro Photography.
From my favorite book.
Milo "looked glumly at all the things he owned. The books that were too much trouble to read, the tools he'd never learned to use, the small electric automobile he hadn't driven in months--or was it years?--and the hundreds of other games and toys, and bats and balls, and bits and pieces scattered around him. And then, to one side of the room. . . .
"It was very much like the tollbooths he'd seen many times on family trips, except of course it was much smaller and purple. . . .
"He walked across the room and dusted the car off carefully. Then, taking the map and rule book with him, he hopped in and, for lack of anything better to do, drove slowly up to the tollbooth" (The Phantom Tollbooth, p. 11, 14-15)

With a billowing cloudscape behind, smart Turkish Air Force McDonnell-Douglas F-4E Phantom II

Very few Phantoms still serve around the world now with Germany about to relinquish theirs in just a few months leaving Japan, Greece and Turkey amongst the last to fly them.
Big, brutish and with it's cranked wing-tips and severe anhedral tailplane, the Phantom was a radical design but it very soon proved itself in Vietnam where the USAF, US Navy and US Marine Corps utilised them heavily throughout the war there.
Several thousand were built and operated by amongst others: USA, UK, Germany, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Israel, Iran, Japan and South Korea.
Most have been retired and scrapped but many of the US examples ended their days as QF-4 Target Drones equipped as unmanned missile 'fodder'!

The newest edition to the Monster Fighters theme, the 'Phantom Chaser'.
Being a massisve fan of the MF theme I thought it only right that they should have a cool car to chase the monsters in, cooler than the one lego produced, especially considering the Lord Vampyre has a hotrod hearse!
Play features include:
1) It actually rolls on its wheels!
2) Opening doors
3) Opening boot
4) Ghost tank
5) Moveable seatbacks
