This rocky island is near the distance shore on my previous post. It's 500 feet long but small enough that it's not easy to see at that distance. Phantom Ship is the oldest rock within the caldera and is so steep that just a few feet away from the island the water is over 1,000 feet deep. Named for its ghosts hip-like appearance on foggy days.
Phantom Ship is a small island in Crater Lake in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is a natural rock formation pillar which derives its name from its resemblance to a ghost ship, especially in foggy and low-light conditions.
Here's the same island from the opposite side on a more colorful day and with just a little more perspective. It's really not that far from the edge of the lake. You can even see the rocky underwater connection here.

Another angle on the terrific F-4C Phantom II on display at the March Field Air Museum in Riverside, California.
There are wildlife encounters, and then there are moments like this one. A Great Gray Owl fills the entire frame in a breathtaking head-on approach, its massive wingspan spread wide against a stunning backdrop of boreal forest and distant mountain peaks. At nearly 1.5 metres from wingtip to wingtip, the sheer scale of this magnificent bird is fully on display here, every barred feather illuminated by bright daylight in extraordinary detail.
What strikes the viewer immediately is that single piercing yellow eye, fixed with absolute and unwavering intensity directly down the lens. This is a bird that commands complete attention and knows it. The Great Gray Owl is the world's largest owl by length, a silent and formidable hunter of the northern boreal forests, and yet there is something almost mythical about its presence, earning it the well deserved nickname "Phantom of the North."

Interurban motorwagen 26 van de Shebogan Light Power and Railway Co rijdt langs Phantom lake op weg naar East Troy. Een donkere bui hult het meer reeds in het duister maar de frisse kleuren van de motorwagen lichten nog op in de laatste gedempte zonnestralen. Het trolley-touw hangt in een boog achter de motorwagen.
De houten interurban is in 1908 door de Cincinnati Car Co. gebouwd. Toen de interlokale tramlijn van Sheboygan naar Elkhart Lake in 1938 werd opgeheven kreeg de wagenbak van de motorwagen een nieuwe bestemming als zomerhuisje. In 1988 werd de bak door de museumlijn in East Troy verworven en na een jarenlange restauratie kwam het fraaie voertuig in 2005 weer op de baan.
