About 1,000 Fort Hood Soldiers left III Corps Headquarters May 17 for Phantom Thunder, an 80-mile motorcycle mentorship ride. Prior to the ride, LTG Don Campbell Jr. and CSM Arthur L. Coleman Jr. signed a proclamation designating May as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, demonstrating that our Soldiers are trained and equipped to ride safely through Central Texas. As part of the annual Phantom Thunder, motorcycle riders rumbled along a more than 70 mile route May 25 that circled Fort Hood and Belton Lake, Texas. The Phantom Galaxy (M 74) is a grand design spiral galaxy located about 32 million light years from Earth, in the constellation Pisces. This makes it one of the most distant objects I've photographed, and according to Wikipedia, because of its low surface, it's the most difficult Messier object for amateur astronomers to observe.
