Taken at Lanhydrock, Cornwall - fallen rhododendron petals against a backdrop of lichen on the wall.

Its a petal, a part of the 2012 Olympic cauldron. One was presented to each country taking part. I wonder what others have done with theirs?!

The peony bush in our garden was blossoming in profusion. These images offer an abstraction of their petals.

 

I am still learning how to effectively use the Raynox macro adapter. With f/6.3 on a medium telephoto lens, the DOF is so narrow that the resulting image has only a sliver of the petal in sharp focus. The result is a very impressionistic image, not typical of most macro adapters.

 

While reviewing the final RAW files, I realized that the white peony petals were beautiful abstractions of human interaction and I labelled them accordingly.

Sometimes I like to just pick a single subject and try to photograph it from as many different angles as possible to see if I can get anything different out of it. I think this is my favourite from my rose snapping session.
