Over at Mami Doodles there is a call for Guest Designers for the next few months. The image of Lil' Rosie is free and you have make a card with her.

I started by printing off Lil' Rosie and colouring her with Pearlescent paints. I used some lovely purple BG paper and used Card Pattern # 76 for my design. I embossed the scallop with a Sizzix folder and added it to the BG paper. I popped Lil' Rosie as if she was sitting on the edge. Sentiment by Hero Arts.

Lights up and blows bubbles. Crazy pearlescent paint and Astroboy stickers.

The light bulb shaped jar is filled with lucky stars made from glow in the dark paper in pink & green. Some of the stars are solid, some are white with pink or green stars printed on them. These look so awesome in the dark! Jar stands approximately 3.25" tall. Filled with 20 stars.

The little glass jar is just over 1 inch tall & is filled with 15 of the tiniest origami stars you'll ever see! Yes, that's right, I actually folded each of those itsy bitsy stars in there from little pieces of shiny blue pearlescent paper! There's a loop on the lid so that you can hang this on a necklace or a cord from your rear view mirror, or your keychain or turn it into an earring - what EVER you want to do with it!

Book of Flakes

No I didn’t write/assemble a book on Snow Flakes yet. But this is a Stack of Flacks like a stack of poker chips. They are all aligned on their center axis. I count at least 4 layers maybe 5 here. Your milage may differ.

Reading a Book of Snowflakes

The temperature/humidity/pressure has to be just so for books to form. They can all crow from the same center ice needle. Each flake of course is unique in the book. Sitting on a coats fur collar, this flake has long since turned to ice in a pile or has sublimated from solid to gas directly. IT’s been a winter so far of mostly ice pellets. About 6 snows in October I think.. Our air is dry here and sublimation is a major source of snow disappearance by a direct phase change. Captured in a tiny tiny moment of time and space. Forever now launched in Cyberspace as once it’s on Facebook, it’s stored until the internet finally crashes lol.

Setting the proper mood:

There are hundreds of names for snow, you say,

unlatching the fortochka in the morning light.

Let’s name them all, love, along the way.

Last night snow danced its boreal ballet

of whorls and swirls, fine arabesques in white—

you know hundreds of names for snow, you say.

Down crystalline paths we slip and spin, surveying

ice falls, tall drifts, single flakes in flight—

my love and I count them along the way.

In my head, sparking visions start to play:

once love’s begun, who knows? Perhaps we might—

There are hundreds of names for snow, you say,

gently, their meanings subtle, hard to convey—

elusive as love’s many meanings last night.

I wait. You walk—silent—along your way.

Feeling foolish, unschooled, I whisk away

a sudden, childish tear obscuring my sight.

You know hundreds of names for love, you say:

I’ll learn them all, love, along my way.

McLaren Palm Beach 720S Velocity steals the show at Cars & Coffee Palm Beach last weekend. This special edition model showcases the individuality the McLaren Special Operations department is capable of offering to our exclusive clients. The McLaren Palm Beach display drew a huge crowd when word of the unveiling of this one of a kind example got around. The DuPont Registry team highlighted the 720S Velocity during their coverage of the event.

McLaren Palm Beach offers 5 very special Super Series themes to inspire clients with our unlimited design creations. Designed to display both our technical skill, and the wide range of different visual effects that can be achieved through our MSO bespoke catalogue, each model also reveals and enhances a different facet of the pioneering and multi-talented 720S.

The MSO 720S Velocity celebrates the extreme performance credentials of the inspirational Super Series model, and the striking paint theme comprises two pearlescent hues of red: a newly formulated shade, Nerello Red, is applied to the nose of the car-including on the tinted carbon fiber hood- and fades into a vivid Volcano Red that covers the sides and rear.

Before I even began designing the invitation set, I started with a moodboard as usual to make sure the client is on board with the design direction. This wedding is in November, she had fall-like colors, but she didn't want an Autumn, leaf theme. She wanted to embrace certain rustic elements, but rather communicate elegance, sophistication and have it be warm + inviting for her guests. And my design solution to her visual concerns was "An Enchanted November" wedding theme.

For the invitation, the key defining element that will be branded across all wedding components is the "H" monogram which stands for the groom's last name. To make it as unique as possible for Stephanie + Justin, I deconstructed the letter "H" by replacing the connecting bar with a graphic branch. I created depth and interest by playing with rich, deep gradients composed of the mocha + cranberry hues. The 11.11.11 date is written in a classy, but in a not-so-stuffy script typeface below the monogram in the invitation set.

The main invite is a one-folded card with a loose, self mailer RSVP card. For the typography, I wanted it to be soft + bold, and have it flow + move by using different opacity levels. Also, I broke it up by having the information across two pages.

Printing Specs: One-folded Card + Response Card were 4C/4C, Digital on Citi Paper USA, Autumn Hay, 98C weight paper. Adhesive label was also 4-Color, Digital, but printed on standard adhesive paper that wasn't iridescent for cost efficiency.

No printing on the chocolate A7 envelope as per the original design; client opted for addressed labels where she could get custom calligraphy done in chocolate ink. Also, I provided the client with the "H" monogram art file so she could get custom matching stamps.

The book is 3.45" by 2.55" and 0.55" ( thick (8.7cm by 6.5cm by 1.4cm). It is Coptic-bound using Gutermann's handquilting thread. It has 7 signatures, each made with 3 sheets of 130gsm cartridge paper.

The cover is black Fimo, painted with pearlescent acrylic inks then 'crackled' by rolling lengthways and crossways.

Latest restoration. 2.8 series alloy frame with cantilevered rear drop-outs extending from the chain stays. Rare Electric Red pearlescent paintwork. Rescued from successive triathalete owners who were not mechanically sympathetic and did not look after it. Hell, the original alloy forks were ripped off it by a large tree branch whilst it was being carried on the last owner's car roof!

Hours of cleaning revealed a beauty though and with upgraded and in many cases more suitable components for the hilly terrain that I live in, this bike has a new life. All parts are period correct except the Ahead handlebar stem. 9 Kg all in despite the steel fork.

I love the singular classy hue of this semi-old frame with its simple restrained graphics / decals - none of the gaudy modern multi-coloured graphics that typify the modern carbon fibre equivalent.. The tyres came with it - not my choice, although I've got used to them.. The 42/52T chainrings have since been removed and it is now running 38/48T.

Pretty Valentine en a big hug to all of you.

Tiffany Glass & Decorating Company, Punch Bowl with Three Ladles, 1900, glass, silver, gilding, copper, and wood, bowl 36.8 x 61 cm, ladle 6.4 x 8.9 x 25.4 cm (Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond)

Exhibited at the 1900 Paris World’s Fair (Louis Comfort Tiffany won a grand prize and received the French Legion of Honor); the bowl was owned by Henry O. Havemeyer and is made of hand-blown iridescent glass that recalls ancient Roman glass which can become pearlescent when buried. Tiffany termed this glass Favrile, after the Latin "fabrilis" (hand made).

stamped: APRIL 1900 / TIFFANY G. & D. CO. / NEW YORK / 1282

We've collected a plethora of sea glass during our stay in Antigua. Most of it probably comprises of Wadadli (green) and Carib (brown) beer bottles, but there's a few unique shades in there.

The dark pieces are intriguing to me as they are thick, heavy but not entirely opaque. I don't know if they're very old, but their curvature indicates that they aren't wine bottles. Perhaps bowls of some sort? It could be coincidence but they were found adjacent to fortifications and other old (19th century) structures. Some of the dark pieces have interesting hazing and pearlescent coloration.

This colourful and eye catching necklace contains a beautiful pink lobelia flower encased under a layer of clear glass like resin to protect and preserve it forever. It is then set upon a decorative vintage style bronze metal locket, on a 20 inch bronze chain.

This would make a perfect and unusual present for any loved one, to hold a special photo inside.

Arrives gift wrapped in a cute pearlescent box with ribbon, ready for giving.

BMW M3 Alpine White Edition, re sprayed with white pearlescent paint, sunset March 2014

My LE Wedding Cinderella Doll has been fully deboxed. She is posed standing, supported by the included display stand. With her floor length multi-layered skirt she should be able to free stand, but I didn't haven't tried to stand her that way. She is photographed from all angles.

On my second attempt to get the Limited Edition Wedding Cinderella 17'' Doll from eBay, I finally got her! I got her with the help of a fellow collector. She is #450 of 500, and was originally sold by the Japan Disney Store. There is a Japanese sticker on the bottom of the box. She was shipped double boxed, and very well packed. She arrived in perfect condition.

She is very beautiful, and has a serene expression, rather than the grumpy pout of the LE Ballgown Cinderella doll. Her lips have a slight smile, which is part of why she has a more pleasant expression than the other doll, who shares the same face mold. She is glancing in the opposite direction of the Ballgown Cinderella, and her skin has a matte surface, rather than the shiny pearly surface of the Ballgown doll. Her pale yellow wedding gown has many differently sized and colored rhinestones enhancing the printed floral pattern. There are also several small jeweled plastic butterflies in the skirt, hidden amongst the flowers. The decorations continue throughout the back of the dress. There are also faux pearl buttons on her sleeves and on the back of her bodice. Her skirt is very full with a long train, and is in three differently colored layers. Under her skirts is a 3/4 length single layer tulle petticoat. Attached to her hair is an oversized pale yellow sheer chiffon veil. She has golden earrings and a jeweled golden tiara. Her wedding ring is a floral design with five golden beads; it is pinned to her hand. She has the old style legs, with fixed ankles. She is wearing simple ivory heels, with no decorations.

I will be posting a full set of detailed photos of this doll. She will be shown boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed, both by herself and with other Disney Store dolls.

Pink is the new matte black. Or maybe not.

Blended with a version of the image processed in Dreamscope with a stained glass filter. Additional processing in Pixel Bender's Oil Paint and Topaz Clean Degrunge (to reduce the harshness).

I like the pearlescent effect the stained glass filter gave it, and also the colors in the blue fabric.

Every once in a while we feel the need for color, and lots of it. This piece will add a splash of fun to whatever your wearing. Maybe more so if you're wearing nothing at all. Feel free to be yourself under the summer stars.

Created this card based on the star sketch from Hero Arts. Card base from cream cardstock with Hero Arts S5208 Designer Woodgrain stamped over top using Tsukineko Brilliance Gold pearlescent pigment ink.

Hero Arls K5059 Big Owl stamped onto navy cardstock using Tsukineko VersaMark watermark ink and embossed with black embossing powder. Stamped and embossed owl three times. Painted each owl using Perfect Pearls mixed with water: Copper, Bronze, Turquoise, and Sunflower Yellow. Cut the navy cardstock with one painted owl into a star shape. Cut out the face and ears from the second owl and layered on top with foam squares for dimension. Cut out the eyes and beak from the third owl and layered on top with foam squares. (See close-up of stamp layers.)

Stamped stars from Hero Arts CL318 Galaxy of Stars using VersaFine pigment ink in Vintage Sepia onto cork and cut them out. Layered blue washi tape from Cute Tape, then the painted owl on the navy star, then the cork stars. "Dad" sentiment stamped using Hero Arts LL929 Legacy Letters.
