There are still a handful of boxes in the basement laying dormant, sealed up from the move sixteen months ago. Tonight, as we scoured our subterranean depths for a long-unused mah jong set, we unearthed my chess set, a relic from my nine-year-old self carved in miniature from stone. I pointed out to The Boy the spot on the cedar box (a secret box, according to him) where I'd stenciled out my name in pearlescent glitter. And he marveled, as we played a re-inaugural game, at the heft and coolness of the pieces while he held them against his face and rubbed them between his fingers.

Brooklands Mini Day 2014

Mini 35

Year: 1994 (June)

Based on: Mini Sprite

Engine: 1,275 cc 1 3/4 SU Carb

Exterior colour:

Pearlescent Nevada Red

Metallic Arizona Blue

Diamond White

Metallic British Racing Green

Exterior trim: Chrome grille, lock set and door handles, auxiliary driving lamps. Electric adjustable headlamp aim. Export option: Webasto sunroof.

Decals/badges: Silver coachline with special decals.

Interior: Blue-and-pink "Jamboree" fabric; export option: all-leather, perforated leather inserts, colored piping that matched the exterior. Full walnut wood dash and door cappings.

Equipment: Opening rear windows, R652 stereo

Production: 1,000 for UK (RHD), 400 for export (LHD)

The 35 did not come with alloy wheels as standard. An automatic transmission was offered as an option. This limited edition was also offered in France, Italy and Japan, although it was identified by different names in those markets. Four hundred left-hand drive Mini 35 cars were also built for export to Holland and Germany late in the model year (November 1994). They were painted British Racing Green Metallic and had all-leather interior with piping trim that matched the exterior color. They had 13-inch alloy wheels and extended wheel arches. The LHD cars also had the same silver coachlines, special decals, and a special wood-rimmed steering wheel with a 35th Anniversary horn button. Only a few were sold and the rest re-badged and sold as 1995 models.

Big Chunky resin pendant. Nice and big but light at the same time.

Picked up an old MB-2 with biplane fork a while back for Grace.

Stripped it and had it powdered a dark pearlescent gray, then built it up with a wide double, big mountain cassette, downtube-turned-bar-end shifters, rack and 'stache bars.

Fenders to come.

Mochi with a manekineko/lucky cat/beckoning cat we bought at a grocery store in December of 2017 in Yubari. (Naturally, we bought the kind with the cat, but there are other shapes/figures available as well.) These are a traditional snack (the bottom two items that are pearlescent in color are dried mochi/rice paste) eaten on New Years in Japan and can be quite dangerous, especially if you don't chew the mochi well enough. (Every year, several people, mostly elderly, choke and die from swallowing mochi that wasn't properly chewed.)

Without a doubt, one of the nicest of all Corgi's models; a fine example of their late 60s to early 70s models, which offered a decent representation of the real car, with all "the bells and whistles", in terms of opening parts, tilting seats, jewelled headlights, Take-Off-Wheels (plus a spare in the boot) and Golden Jacks, etc, along with possibly the nicest paint job that Corgi put on a model car; pearlescent white over blue-grey. A cracker!

This whimsical "Penny farthing" photograph is printed on Kodak Endura's gorgeous metallic paper. The colors are exceptionally vivid and the image has a unique three-dimensional quality. The paper has a lovely pearlescent sheen and it's simply stunning on this bracelet. The fun and playful image is captured in a round bezel and mounted on a brass filigree embellishment, full with fabulous ornate details. The art is sealed with a glass-like coating for protection and shine.

This bracelet features a gorgeous textured cable chain in a warm antique brass finish and is finished with a lobster clasp closure. The bracelet length is 7 inches.

Ahhh, the rare Size 13 Gunne! And a beautiful sparkling white gown!

This gorgeous dress has so many special features: sheer lace sleeves, full lace skirt, ruffled hemline with an eyelet flower design, the same eyelet flower design is at the cuffs, waist, and (vertically) at the bust, which also features four lovely pearlescent buttons (also at cuffs). Precious scoop neck. Zips and ties into a bow in back.

The ends of the ties have a bit of discoloration, and there is a light brown stain on the lace near the hem of the skirt in back. Just needs a little bleach, nevertheless I have lowered the price. (See 5th photo).

It is always a treat to find a Gunne that is not an XS!

I liked it much.

The pearlescent matte white was the nicest take on matte white I've ever seen. I really, really like the ATS, and hope they don't change the formula too much by the time I can afford one.

These stars are carefully folded from special strips of origami paper. There are 255 stars in this jar!!! These took several hours to fold!

The stars are in a rainbow of colors, some translucent and some pearlescent! Purple, blue, yellow, green, orange, and pink in many different shades! The jar is wavy, and the stars look just beautiful in there!

I took a couple shots with my bike(left) so the paint would stand out a bit more. The tones are similar with a very fine metal flake to it. Like a metallic pastel, blue-green-ish thing going on. Unless you're within about 10 feet it comes off more of a silver pearlescent effect. Beautiful work over at COAT, and a great build by Greg Morris of Milholland. The parts selection for the touring bike are perfect in both function and appearance.

Before I even began designing the invitation set, I started with a moodboard as usual to make sure the client is on board with the design direction. This wedding is in November, she had fall-like colors, but she didn't want an Autumn, leaf theme. She wanted to embrace certain rustic elements, but rather communicate elegance, sophistication and have it be warm + inviting for her guests. And my design solution to her visual concerns was "An Enchanted November" wedding theme.

For the invitation, the key defining element that will be branded across all wedding components is the "H" monogram which stands for the groom's last name. To make it as unique as possible for Stephanie + Justin, I deconstructed the letter "H" by replacing the connecting bar with a graphic branch. I created depth and interest by playing with rich, deep gradients composed of the mocha + cranberry hues. The 11.11.11 date is written in a classy, but in a not-so-stuffy script typeface below the monogram in the invitation set.

The main invite is a one-folded card with a loose, self mailer RSVP card. For the typography, I wanted it to be soft + bold, and have it flow + move by using different opacity levels. Also, I broke it up by having the information across two pages.

Printing Specs: One-folded Card + Response Card were 4C/4C, Digital on Citi Paper USA, Autumn Hay, 98C weight paper. Adhesive label was also 4-Color, Digital, but printed on standard adhesive paper that wasn't iridescent for cost efficiency.

No printing on the chocolate A7 envelope as per the original design; client opted for addressed labels where she could get custom calligraphy done in chocolate ink. Also, I provided the client with the "H" monogram art file so she could get custom matching stamps.

A fun and flirty dress in the 1920s drop waist style (though certainly not from the 1920s itself).

Features a darling square neck with plastic pearlescent beads sewn into a necklace type decoration. The lace features a lovely rose pattern. Lined in white satin. Beautiful billowy unlined lace at the sleeves. There are also belt loops at the drop waist.

The line of pearls had come unattached at one place- see photo.

Deboxing the Designer SQ Elsa and Hans Doll Set. Prince Hans has been fully deboxed. He is posed free standing.

I have finally deboxed the Designer Fairytale Snow Queen Elsa and Hans Doll Set (2015). My set is #4597 of 6000. It was the only set that I didn't get at the Disney Store raffle, so I had to order her online. I show the set boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed. After deboxing them, I place them back on their display stand, in a different pose.

I was a little surprised that Elsa has the body construction of the 2012 DS Classic Princess dolls, so has external hinged knee joints and ankle joints. It makes her legs a bit unsightly when they are exposed by opening the slit of the skirt. She has shiny pearlescent skin that is similar to the Harrods Elsa doll, but doesn't have the heavy blush. Her Snow Queen outfit also has embellishments that are more similar to that of the Harrods Elsa rather than that of the LE 2500 Snow Queen Elsa. But rather than the jeweled snowflakes of the 17'' LE Elsa she has single clear rhinestones throughout her braid, and a few on her head. The snowflake and icicle design in her cape are printed rather than embroidered (as in the 17'' LE Elsas) or glittered (as in the Classic Elsa). They are flat and smooth, and I don't think are as effective in depicting ice.

The major embellishments of Designer Hans over Classic Hans are the addition of white gloves, and a sword. However, It's disappointing that there is no scabbard for the sword - it is loosely sewn to his pants legs, which looks rather cheap.

I will show the dolls in side by side comparisons to other Elsa and Hans dolls in future postings.

4x12 inch mixed media painting on stretched canvas

Striving for Raw & Organic natural designs, my "Art Gem" series has given me some of my most satisfying results. Each one is unique, with patterns that reflect beautiful natural flowing elements.

The technique I use to make these result in paintings that are everything from electric, wild & full of movement to calm surreal dreams. Some have described them as topo maps from a distant colorful planet, and like the outer reaches of another galaxy.

A series of small format abstract paintings. Very raw & organic with unique textures, colorful finishes & vivid imagery.

Made with layers of custom mixed acrylic & pearlescent paints, inks, powders, varnishes & silver leafing liquid.

Modern original abstract painting art gems. Mixed material on canvas.

This series is taking off as people are getting into the idea of making their own custom arrangement by grouping several of these together.

Join the craze! Find them at www.daviniart.com or on eaby. ebay ID is ddartgems.

Affordable smaller paintings created with custom mixed materials & unusual techniques developed by artist Danny Davini.

The two tone paint on this Mini Cooper was unique at the show, and it certainly draws you in

Capturing this was not as straight up as i thought.

Using my little 40mm Micro I closed in on the paint, highlighting the fine droplets, using them as 'magnifiers' highlighting even more detailing in the paints flecks

but thats not where it ended, the paint reacts to light, the angle of which it refracts into your eye, or lens in this case, changes the colour variant of the paint, for this shot i wanted to highlight both in unison, so the right angle of my eye and body had to be achieved to make the blend you see, which a very tight band of depth of field along the lower 3rd of the photo

Today I decided to use my pearlescent inks and watercolors - what a mess! I need to practice with these a LOT more. Any way, it is what it is - a compilation of every mistake it is possible to make and a reminder that I could have just torn out the page.

Pretty Valentine en a big hug to all of you.

Moodboard created for my 11.11.11 wedding client.

Main Colors: Mocha + Golds

Accent Colors for Contrast/Pop: Cranberry Red + Orange Marigolds

Texture + Interest: Rustic sophistication, embracing nature elements, but richen them with warm, bold hues in florals + textural linens, allow for drama by creating height and dimension with flowing, suspended forms like red Amaranthus floral and structural branches like Manzanita or Curly Willow for the centerpieces. And to top all these visual layers off, add some glitz with jeweled, crystal chains for embellishment.

Invitation: Incorporate nature elements, wedding color palette, wedding date - 11.11.11, the Letter "H" and the glitz will come through with the pearlescent paper stock.

Thank you for supporting my art!

Guys, check out your local Argos! These girls are at an incredible £4.99! I almost picked her up the other day for £12 thinking it was a good deal, glad I didn't now cause I got two for less! I was running very low on fashionista bodies!

Random thought - both these dolls have slightly different colour lips. Ones matte and ones shiny and pearlescent!
