Art and craft work from many local artists and art groups has been created specifically and/or donated to the Butterfly House. The Leadlighting group on Bribie Island is one of the few remaining groups in SE QLD keeping this art alive.

The nautilus shell is divided internally into chambers, the chambered section being called the phragmocone. The phragmocone is divided into camerae by septa, all of which are pierced in the middle by a duct, the siphuncle. As the nautilus matures its body moves forward, sealing the camerae behind it with a new septum. The last fully open chamber, also the largest one, is used as the living chamber. The number of camerae increases from around four at the moment of hatching to thirty or more in adults.
The nautilus shell presents one of the finest natural examples of a logarithmic spiral, a kind of spiral curve which often appears in nature. The logarithmic spiral was first described by Descartes and later investigated extensively by Jakob Bernoulli, who called it Spira mirabilis, "the marvelous spiral." Bernoulli was fascinated by one of its unique mathematical properties: the size of the spiral increases, but its shape is unaltered with each successive curve.

Some very strange clouds that evening. The sky felt nearly pearlescent. If you peek a bit, you also get to see a bit of the dreadful banding effect that led me to sell that lens. On Panasonic bodies it has a lot going for it but on Olympus bodies at night it quickly turns anything into disaster. Pity, I liked the focal length.

The Sidewalks here are crafted from limestone and have a lovely pearlescent glow. They’re also much more comfortable to walk on than rough cobblestones in many other European cities. Many also incorporate beautiful and interesting designs.

To accommodate the release of House of the Dragon I present you with the dragon Arrax. He is a dragon we will most likely see in House of the Dragon, but probably not in season 1. This module is based of the book Fire and Blood, which the show is based on. Arrax is ridden by Lucerys Velaryon, who is one of Rhaenyra’s sons. Arrax is implied to have been pearlescent white with a golden belly, and he is not that large compared to some of the bigger dragons.
I really want to make more dragons in the future, especially Vhagar and Caraxes.

Salamanders are a group of amphibians typically characterized by their lizard-like appearance, with slender bodies, blunt snouts, short limbs projecting at right angles to the body, and the presence of a tail in both larvae and adults. All ten extant salamander families are grouped together under the order Urodela. Salamander diversity is highest in eastern North America, especially in the Appalachian Mountains; most species are found in the Holarctic realm, with some species present in the Neotropical realm.
Salamanders rarely have more than four toes on their front legs and five on their rear legs, but some species have fewer digits and others lack hind limbs. Their permeable skin usually makes them reliant on habitats in or near water or other cool, damp places. Some salamander species are fully aquatic throughout their lives, some take to the water intermittently, and others are entirely terrestrial as adults.
This group of amphibians is capable of regenerating lost limbs as well as other damaged parts of their bodies. Researchers hope to reverse engineer the regenerative processes for potential human medical applications, such as brain and spinal cord injury treatment or preventing harmful scarring during heart surgery recovery.
Members of the family Salamandridae are mostly known as newts and lack the costal grooves along the sides of their bodies typical of other groups. The skin of some species contains the powerful poison tetrodotoxin; these salamanders tend to be slow-moving and have bright warning coloration to advertise their toxicity. Salamanders typically lay eggs in water and have aquatic larvae, but great variation occurs in their life cycles. Some species in harsh environments reproduce while still in the larval state.
The skin lacks scales and is moist and smooth to the touch, except in newts of the Salamandridae, which may have velvety or warty skin, wet to the touch. The skin may be drab or brightly colored, exhibiting various patterns of stripes, bars, spots, blotches, or dots. Male newts become dramatically colored during the breeding season. Cave species dwelling in darkness lack pigmentation and have a translucent pink or pearlescent appearance.
Salamanders range in size from the minute salamanders, with a total length of 27 mm (1+1⁄8 in), including the tail, to the Chinese giant salamander which reaches 1.8 m (6 ft) and weighs up to 65 kg (145 lb). Most, however, are between 10 and 20 cm (4 and 8 in) in length.

Mistletoe is an evergreen plant with distinctive forked branches and pairs of symmetrical evergreen leaves. In winter it produces clusters of pearlescent white berries which are favourites with hungry birds such as thrushes.
The plant is 'hemiparasitic', which means it takes some of its food from another plant. It grows on the branches of trees, pulling water and nutrients from its host, while its green leaves also photosynthesise.
There are more than 900 species of mistletoe around the world. The only species native to the UK is European mistletoe (Viscum album) which has the widest host range of all its relatives.
Mistletoe grows in the branches of trees such as hawthorn, poplar and lime, although in the UK the most common hosts are cultivated apple trees.
Despite growing on trees, mistletoe is not generally found in a woodland setting, preferring hosts in open situations with plenty of light. You’re more likely to see it in gardens, orchards, parkland and even churchyards. This means that mistletoe would have been less abundant in ancient times when woodland was more typical.
It's commonly found in Wales, the West Midlands and the South of England, with particularly large populations in Gwent, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Somerset. It was once thought that this clustering was due to the number of apple orchards in these regions, but this has been proved incorrect as orchards are found in locations where mistletoe is absent.
Mistletoe is widely scattered elsewhere in England and Wales, but is rarely seen in eastern and northern England and Scotland.

Today's edition of "armchair traveling during the Coronavirus lockdown" takes me back to our trip to Monterey earlier this year. We visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium and spent quite some time enjoying the mesmerizing jellyfish floating quietly in their huge tanks. These have a delicate color and pearlescent tone.

On a highway road cut in Vermont, snow is melting in the radiant Spring sunshine, but the air is still very cold. As the snow melts, tiny trickling streams of water freeze, melt and re-freeze, over and over, building up layers of ice over time. This creates these beautiful dense and pearlescent ice-falls all along the route.
