On a walk around Linwood Cemetery with my Flickr friend. January 2022 Christchurch New Zealand.
History of the Linwood Cemetery :
A lot of headstones have fallen and were damaged by the Christchurch Earthquakes in 2010-11.
The cemetery was the first Christchurch cemetery located outside the town ‘on sanitary grounds’ and is situated on what was once a large sand dune.
It was at one time called Christchurch Cemetery or Sandilands Cemetery, on account of the sandy soil, very suitable for digging. It has many large and interesting monuments, most of which are to the memory of early residents of the eastern suburbs. It has a Jewish section, including graves resited from the 19th century Jewish cemetery in Hereford Street. There are many notable people buried in the cemetery, along with a number of 'colourful' characters.
In 1884 the Council approved the construction of a tramway to the cemetery from the corner of Cashel and High streets and by 1885 had built a tramway hearse. Although now covered by asphalt, tram tracks survive beneath the main pathway within the cemetery.

Weird lighting. Used Laura Gunn Poppy fabrics. I splurged and had this one long arm quilted. Made this quilt for my parents' 40th anniversary.

Hi ya! My name is Patches! I am a young, energetic, happy-go-lucky dog in need of a forever home. I love to play with toys. I will romp and run, tossing them around in the air, tail always wagging with a big, heartwarming grin on my face. I get along well with other dogs, especially those who will play with me. I also have a sweet, friendly, loving personality. I enjoy being petted and told I'm a good boy. I have been around cats and I pretty much ignore them. I am a good dog who is looking for a home where people have the time and energy to spend with me, play with me and shower me with love and kisses. Could that be you? Apply today! Adoption fee: $75. Adopt a pair: $115. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 60 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip. Apply online: www.pawsforliferescue.org

I got this owl patch from Etsy. I had a hole in my sweater, and didn't know how to fix it. I figured it would be good to put a patch on it. This was patch was too big, but it was too cute to pass up. I got a different patch from my sweater, but I have this extra one for a bigger sweater hole in the future. Hehehe.

My first DashnDazzle 'girl" modeling an original design called "Patches". What shall I name her? It must be something elegant! David deserves no less for this masterful work of art! Thank you, David!

22.5 lb 6-8 yo black and white cocker spaniel. He came in severely matted and was scheduled to be euthanized for lack of space. A kind soul pulled him to a kennel to save his life. He has been boarded for over 4 months now. 2 years Rabies vaccination 7/10/09. He interacts well with other dogs and people, and loves to romp and play.
Update 7/12: Patches went to church this morning - socializing with a lot of children and adults. The sermon was about promises - the 2 different kinds (relationship and performance-related). I thought that Patches was the right dog for this sermon. He is about forgiveness, and both relationship and performance promises. A few interested people from the church - the question being whether he wants love and attention more, or exercise more. Some of the people who want to adopt have a backyard, but have broken bones in their feet and can't walk very well. Patches doesn't know commands yet, jumps up on people, and will need work with house-training. A really nice disposition both with other dogs and people.
Patches went into a temporary foster home for 2 days this afternoon. We need an adoptive or foster home by Tuesday afternoon, or he goes back to WV.
