A Passing Moment - Sea Isle City, NJ
The Milky Way shines over an empty Sea Isle beach as a meteor shoots through the middle of it. With Memorial Day now behind us, empty beaches and empty shore towns won't be around for long. That means more light pollution and sadly more "fist pumping." Both of those things make for one bummed out photographer.
"And for a minute it all stops, but it won't last man
it's just a passing moment gone. Please slow it down" - Rocky Votolato - goo.gl/3pags

Delivered from Derby Works in July 1961, D40 was in service for over 25 years prior to withdrawal in May 1987. The locomotive was stored at March pending scrapping but soon identified as a candidate for preservation. In January 1990 was purchased by the Class 45/1 Preservation Society and in due course moved to the Midland Railway Centre.

At the cottage and I decided to grab a camera for a little experimentation with multiple exposure to end the day. The weather had something else in mind with a storm front fast approaching when I got to the shore I went scrambling back for a wider lens ...

It's only about 1:45PM in early February, but the tree shadows are already starting to grow long on the landscape in Alna Center, Maine, as a WW&F mixed train makes its way south on the fill at Milepost 6. Leading the train this day is the venerable Locomotive #9, an 1891 product of Maine's Portland Company, which plied the rails of four of Maine's narrow gauge lines during a 40+ year working career.
Looking at historic photos of the original Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway, it is interesting to note how much the landscape has changed. The images from 100 years ago depict a significantly more open landscape, as much of the land was maintained for agricultural purposes, and the lumber industry created a lot of clear-cut property. Today, much of the WW&F Museum right-of-way is a typical New England tree-tunnel. The spot seen here is one of the more open stretches of the line.

Famous walkway that bypasses Catedral (La Seu) in the Barri Gótic district in Barcelona. Waited for almost 2h that morning for really nice light that never came. Some shadow of the woman walking through the alley is noticable, but apparently at other times of the year, this alley really gets illuminated in the morning. Single RAW exposure. Level adjustments in Photoshop CS3.
12 May 2009: Moved to the Top of My Stream. I apologize for my absence the past month or so. I do still have a ton of photos to post from Japan and Redwood NP/San Fransisco, but I've been busy trying to finish graduate school and get a job. Yikes!
On the opposite side of Caerphilly Castle from the town, known as the Twyn, I saw this man walking along the path so waited until he got in view with the castle behind.
