A Denver & Rio Grande Western Cumbres Turn hammers up the 4% grade near Dalton, NM, passing by Lobo Lodge (MP 339.0) on her its way to the 10,015 ft. high Cumbres Pass, about 8 miles ahead.
The little cabins pictured just above the train are known as "Lobo Lodge" and are part of a large, private reservation, called Rancho del Oso Pardo, which caters to sportsmen, such as hunters and fishermen. This reservation includes much of the trackside property north of Chama, NM. Although it may look pretty inviting for many outdoor enthusiasts, the accommodations here are not for rent. Rather, it's a fractional ownership arrangement and the cost of entry approaches 2 million dollars.
This image was captured on a September 2011 Lerro Photography Charter which featured DRGW K-36 Locomotive #489 lettered as her long-lost sister #485, which was scrapped in the 1950s after a turntable accident.

Believed to be of Asian origin, hollyhocks are depicted in Chinese art as early as the 9th century, symbolizing passing time.
Their majestic stalks display multi-color blooms that here in Santa Fe grow everywhere — alongside the curbs, buildings, fences and houses.
My own first memory is of the ones that grew beneath my grandmother Sophia's kitchen window — one of those indelible pictures in my mind's eye.
I once took courses in physiks and you can not mind here making thoughts about time, especially concerning matter and velocity.
Our senses perceive time while observing changes (movement, growth, destruktion, rust). Mathematics also give changes as a result of passing time. This way I tried to display time by displaying changes/movement and numbers are always good concerning time.

I created an image with multiple exposure. In photoshop I distorted this and added numbers.
Passing by this scene a couple of weeks ago, I had to stop for a shot. It was raining lightly, and the clouds allowed the colors to be highlighted in the capture.

Passing the long closed station of Clandulla, CEY005 is nearing the end of its journey to Charbon Colliery
On the left, Freightliner Class 70, 70009, approaches a signal check at Small Heath with a Leeds to Southhampton train. On the right London Midland Class 172, 172342, speeds through with a service from Statford-upon-Avon to Stourbridge.
A landmark visible for miles around, just north of Somerleyton, the windmill isn behind the waterway and railway line, the 37s making an afternoon trip from Lowestoft back to Norwich. The fields in the background are part of the 'wilding' of the Somerleyton estate, cattle graze there but share the area with wildlife - curlew, redshank, marsh harrier all seen, amongst many other species. The drone caused least disturbance to wildlife; next was me (or others) walking along the river bank, top disturbance was the arrival on the far side of a 4x4 and much activity with a shotgun.
A sight that isn't going to be with us for much longer, two C stock trains passing at Parsons Green sidings.

Dhaulagiri I is the seventh highest mountain in the world at 8,167 metres (26,795 ft) above sea level, and the highest mountain within the borders of a single country (Nepal). It was first climbed on May 13, 1960 by a Swiss/Austrian/Nepali expedition.
Dhaulāgirī comes from Sanskrit where Dhawala means dazzling, white, beautiful and giri means mountain. Dhaulagiri I is also the highest point of the Gandaki river basin.

A hurriedly-taken photo of the funeral train of Sir Winston Churchill passing the goods yard at Barnes, on a grey rainy day at the end of January 1965, hauled by SR ‘Battle of Britain’ class pacific 34051 ‘’Winston Churchill’’.
This is ex-Southern Railway baggage car S2464, built in 1931, repainted in Pullman livery to match the rest of the train, and in use to carry the coffin....
This baggage car was preserved, and shipped to the USA, but returned in 2007 and restored, and today (2026) is owned by the Swanage Railway Trust, and is on display at the One:One Collection in Margate..

There's a lot to look it in this cluttered image. I'm standing in the city of Providence looking north-northeast off the Smithfield Avenue bridge. Everything in front of me was once the vast New Haven Railroad Northup Avenue Yard with this bridge straddling the bowl and the hump located out of frame at the left. Most of the land occupied by the freight yard has been redeveloped but small portions remain in railroad use to this day.
The offices and parking lot below belong to Amtrak which maintains a Maintenance of Way base in a portion of the yard and assorted work train cars and cranes and sometimes locomotives can be found in their small yard located behind me to the south. The rusty tracks left are a portion of the old receiving yard which is still used by the Providence and Worcester Railroad for storage. In the distance working west down freight only Track 7 is a 79 car unit ethanol train (plus two spacers) headed for the Shell tank farm at the Port of Providence. Looking like the proud independent regional I grew up with, three red and brown units are on the point. GP38-2s 2007 and 2006 are original to the road having been built new for the then only 7 year independent company by EMD in Nov. and Dec. 1980 respectively), and have spent their entire careers working these rails. Trailing is GE B39-8E 3903 which was blt. Apr. 1988 as LMX 8594.
At right behind the Amtrak facilities and in front of busy Interstate 95 can be seen Washington to Boston Regional train 172 headed east on Main 2 at MP 187.7 of Amtrak's New Haven Line main, the busy Northeast Corridor.
