LNER K1 Class 2-6-0 62005 passes a fine array of signals on the approach to Quorn and Woodhouse station on the Great Central Railway during a Timeline Events photo charter.
What a lovely morning, with the most bird sounds outside the house so far this year- including the first sounds of the skylark out here.
BirdLife Norway has been working towards getting people to collect 100 bird species in one year, to increase people's interest in birds.
For those of us who are particularly interested, that isn't hard and I will pass 100 today ツ
We will go on a birdwatching road trip to the Stavanger area, where I will see these great crested grebes (Podiceps cristatus) for the first time this year. These are from Stavanger last year.

Quite a few times while we were in Yellowstone National Park, bison walked down the middle of the road passing our truck. This shot was taken out the truck window.
We spent two wonderful weeks in YNP. We had minimal internet connectivity while there. Now we are in Jackson, Wyoming intending to explore Grand Teton National Park. Unfortunately, it is raining heavily with low overcast. So today we are doing a bit of catching up while we have internet connectivity.
CN local train L562 wastes no time passing through Hazlehurst, Mississippi as the train makes a fast run to Brookhaven to work before returning to Jackson, Mississippi.

HMS Queen Elizabeth came home to Portsmouth in time for Christmas and for the first time has been with her sister ship HMS Prince of Wales in their home port.
Passing HST's was once an everyday sight here at Bishton, 43029 heads a London bound service back in 2017.
For Station Saturday here is a repeat of the same depot as last week but this time with a train! Once again this is the former New Haven Railroad Cataumet Station located along the former Woods Hole Branch at MP 5 along the surviving portion now known as the Mass Coastal Railroad's Falmouth Line.
Amazingly this is one of four original depots that survive from the only 17 mile long line Three remain in their original locations: this one, Monument Beach, Falmouth on the abandoned portion that is now a big path, and Grey Gables that has been relocated to the Aptuxcet trading post.
This little station of standard NH design was built in 1925 to replace a wooden one dating from 1889 that had burned. The tracks which still survive beside the station trace back to 1872 when the Old Colonly Railroad. The last regular passenger train called in 1959 though for five more years the NH ran a summer only service from New York to Woods Hole that passed by the station without stopping. In the 1980s Cape Cod and Hyannis Railroad trains briefly returned service here but that railroad went defunct in 1989. I'm not sure whi presently owns the depot but it is clearly well cared for and the tracks beside it still see regular freight service provided by Mass Coastal and the occasional passenger excursion or dinner train operated by Cape Cod Central such as this train deadheading down to North Falmouth where it will board passengers for a 5 PM dinner train departure.
Leading the way is MC 2014, an EMD GP59 blt. Dec. 1989 as NS 4628 and retired and sold to Progress Rail in May 2020 before being rebuilt at MEI in St. Louis and ultimately arriving here this past March. Bracketing the five car train on the north end is FL9 #2026 (blt. Sept. 1957 as NH 2007).

Railfreight Class 37/5 37696 was recorded passing Rogerstone with a consignment of coal forming the 7B65 SX 08:35 Marine Colliery, Cwm to Margam.
Rogerstone Power Station was commissioned in October 1958, with two 60 MW Parsons generating sets. It was closed in December 1984 and demolition was completed during 1991. The site was cleared and used for a housing development.

A couple of days of bad weather made me choose the coast again: the winter sea is always source of inspiration for moody pictures like this. The clouds were moving very fast, so I waited to shoot until they aligned with this XIX century castle.
