Another load of coal is pushed out of the Sandaoling opencast coal mine, whilst the empties set off back into the pit as the single line clears. This rotation of trains and coal has been running continuously since the late 1950s and continues into 2017 at a lesser rate. This is probably the steamiest place on earth at the moment.

BR standard locos 4 & 5 meet, as 73082 charges through Horsted Keynes Station on a northbound express to the capital, whilst 80151 sits in Platform 1 whilst its van train is loaded.

Stena Line's newest adition to the central corridor,Stena Superfast X, departs Dublin back to Holyhead following berthing trials in Dublin while the present incumbent, Stena Nordica,arrives in Dublin from Holyhead.
Superfast X should be in service in the coming days,while the Nordica then goes north for overhaul cover before replacing Superfast X,ironically, on the Dover-Calais run with DFDS.

The Isle of Wight Zoo, previously known as the Sandown Zoo, is a sanctuary inside the former Sandown Fort on the coastline of Sandown, Isle of Wight. The zoo was privately owned but became a charitable trust in 2017. The collection focuses principally on big cats and Madagascan animals.
As part of the European Endangered Species Programme, the zoo has had success breeding several species of Madagascan animals including the critically endangered black-and-white ruffed lemur.
Originally known as Sandown Zoo, the zoo was established in the 1950s. By the 1970s it had fallen into disrepair, and was dubbed "The Slum Zoo of Britain" by The Sunday Times. However, in 1976 the zoo was taken over by a new owner Jack Corney, and over the following years it was rebuilt as a sanctuary for big cats and primates. Since Corney died in 2003 the zoo has been run by his daughter Charlotte.
The shot was taken back in 2009 so I guess there have been lots of changes since our visit .
At the time there was a section in the fence that was like an inset sentry box of solid glass and so one could capture a shot without looking through a fence .

Just liked the arrangement, her legs echoing the bike frame and her face standing out against that white patch - just as I planned it of course!
Alexandra Towing's North Rock passes through the North Liverpool Dock system sometime in the late 50's or early 60's.

Apart from a few minutes of light rain, we had a dry walk on North Hill, despite heavy cloud passing on either side.
Bossington Beach and Porlock Weir were certainly catching it!
