A walk to the end will pass time? Only way to find out is to venture out into the calm. This pier on Lake Washington entertains many that insist on passing time with a view.

Like a ship in the night you passed me by,

With dusk shrouded purpose did you fly.

Alone with myself I was an unseen sight,

Then for love of you my soul took flight.

It's August 7, 1968, and you are in the cab of F7A 261L at Burlingame, Kansas, viewing the passing of No. 24, the former GRAND CANYON. The A-B-A set of F-units is on the Emporia- Kansas City local (via Topeka), which has completed a round trip on the now-abandoned Alma District. The local will leave the siding after No. 24 passes. On my regular downtown walk, I was watching for flying birds to practice with the new focus system. I spotted a goose approaching but didn't get into position until it was nearly on me. Fortunately, the camera was up to the task. I'm pretty pleased with the speed of this focus system, even on the 200-500 lens. Next to the Willamette River in downtown Portland.

Starting on June 1, the Waterbury Branch was shut down for critical infrastructure work on the track, passing sidings, crossings, bridges, and the installation of signals. On a rainy morning from the Maple St. overpass in Ansonia, a PTC (Positive Train Control) test train, which consists of Connecticut Department of Transportation P32AC-DM 230 in the inspired New Haven Railroad McGinnis livery, along with a single CDOT cab car the Charter Oak 6209, heads north testing the new signal and PTC system. The train would go as far as Beacon Falls, then return south. The branch resumed regular service on October 3.

At left is the brick mill complex built by the Phillips Insulated Wire Company between about 1898 and 1927. The company, established in 1888, was one of the most successful manufacturers of coated wire products, in an industry that ranked as the third-largest in Pawtucket. The complex was used by a variety of owners for the manufacture of such products until 2003.

The complete complex originally consisted of one four-story brick, heavy timber structure built in 1898. Thirteen more buildings were built over time, making it one of the largest historic mill complexes in the region.

It has since been repurposed into luxury lofts and condos and alas another rail served industry is gone forever and only the shell remains as a photo prop.

There are no words

that can add a measure of praise

to this already sacred moment

Present in the here and now

Disparate though we are

in this state of flesh

We are one in spirit

and recognise this in moments of clarity

Blessed
