Today was un-godly hot!!! Heat index of 110 degrees F. This evening a major storm passed through the city with 70 mph winds! The whole storm lasted less than 30 minutes and as it passed the sun came back out for only a few moments! We breathed a sigh of relief...the storm had passed.

It was the first time i'd been down the beach for a few days, and it was great just to take in the sun , and hear the sights and sounds. The choughs and peregrines were nesting, and the house martins are back. This shot is for Angharad, a wonderful Flickr friend who was a passing stranger. She cycled from Cardiff to Tenby yesterday, 111 miles, and passed quite close to the beach. She's a star. Passing stranger is by Scott Matthews.

This one caught me by surprise while I was at the Wetlands last weekend. I didn't hear it as it came from behind me. So was happy I got the shot as my right shoulder still makes me slow to react.
I was driving home when I spotted this amazing fellow. I asked if I could take a picture with his dogs (seven or them by my count) and he agreed. He was a transient, just passing through Kingsburg and pushing that overloaded cart. I wish now that I had extracted more information from him. Seven dogs and relying on his feet to get him to where? The high end shopping bags add a nice twist. As I recall he did not ask me for any money and I don't remember if I offered him any.
Today I look at the image and long to know more about him and what has happened to him and his seven friends.

The Iowa Interstate CBBI-01 with a solo unit on the point and a NS Geep along for the ride is eastbound through Grinnell, IA. Built in 1893 by the Rock Island this depot has seen more than 130 years of history pass by its windows.
