The fifth and final stop on my chase of Reading and Northern's northbound NRFF was the only one where I got 'Coud F---ed' so an 80% success rate isn't too bad. Regardless I do kind of like the shots I got here so figured I'd edit up and file and post a few.
This Independence Day edition of 'America's Freight Train' with a healthy sized train behind five green and yellow EMDs led by RBMN 3053 (an SD40-2 blt. Apr. 1980 as MP 3321) is seen curling by Penobscot Yard that was partially rebuilt and reopened by RBMN after they took over the Lehigh Line from Conrail in 1996.
They are wheeling around the curve at speed on Main 1 while stored units sit in a deadline on track 4 in the yard. This is about MP LS 155.6 on modern day RBMN's Lehigh Division mainline and the tracks are on flat ground here, with the grade having leveled off at Crestwood, three miles behind them. They have climbed 800 ft in the 28 or so miles from Jim Thorpe with the grade reaching 1.17% at its steepest, and just ahead they will pass through the rock cut at Solomons Gap and begin the 23 mile or so descent from 1500 ft elevation down to about 650 ft at Pittston Yard alongside the Susquehanna River having crossed over the mountains from the Delaware River watershed.

The container ship CMA CGM Aquila (131332 GRT) passes the luxury cruise liner Explorer of the Seas (138194 GRT) in Southamptons Western Docks.
The Earl and Nunney Castle were due to pass Dainton at just after 5pm yesterday. This is how is should have looked.
A peaceful northeast country view of our passing storm Wednesday afternoon. It skirted our area with only light rain, but eastern counties had more turbulent weather.
Our April showers have been quite heavy and nasty. More storms in the forecast for Friday.

Seeing some nice clouds from home we decided to take a walk to the beach.
When we got there the clouds just looked amazing with heavy rain being dumped off shore by this enormous and beautiful cloud.
I took a number of shots this one being a stitch of twelve images to include a large amount of the cloud and the dog walker.
The beach here at Lancing is ever changing, the recent winds and rough sea`s have scoured away the sand to reveal a seabed of large stones and make new rock pools there are also now a few old wooden groynes showing in places that have previously been all sand.
So glad these guys spent a few days in the bay.

A pair of Providence and Worcester GP38-2s (2006 leading and 2007 on the rear) both bought new by the railroad bracket three cars as they roll east down the East Providence Running Track crossing Central Ave. at MP 1.7.
At left is the brick mill complex built by the Phillips Insulated Wire Company between about 1898 and 1927. The company, established in 1888, was one of the most successful manufacturers of coated wire products, in an industry that ranked as the third-largest in Pawtucket. The complex was used by a variety of owners for the manufacture of such products until 2003.
The complete complex originally consisted of one four-story brick, heavy timber structure built in 1898. Thirteen more buildings were built over time, making it one of the largest historic mill complexes in the region.
It has since been repurposed into luxury lofts and condos and alas another rail served industry is gone forever and only the shell remains as a photo prop.

Here's a view taken last Friday of the snaking train with its huge rake of household waste passing Normanton en route to Knowsley Freight terminal.
I havn't spent much time of late photographing trains, however I found myself in Normanton the other day and decided I should check the freight timetable (good old RTT). As luck would have it the daily 'Binliner' service was due in just ten minutes.
Today couldn't be any different than this. Cloudless, sunny day.
This is the last of this series.
