Researchers sighted right whale Catalog #3294 and calf 17 miles off Fernandina Beach, FL on February 24, 2013. Catalog #3294 is of unknown age and this is her first documented calf. The pair was first sighted on January 13, 2013 off Georgia.

A line up of vehicles at the 1998 Trans Lancs Rally in Heaton Park, Manchester with a pair of different types of Volvo double deckers nearest the camera. On the far left a Stagecoach Manchester 782, S 782 RVU which is an example of the rear engined Olympian chassis with Alexander RL bodywork, whilst next to it is Nottingham City Transport 336, R 336 RRA an underfloor mid-engined B10M with an East Lancs Pyoneer body.
Kookaburras are terrestrial tree kingfishers of the genus Dacelo native to Australia and New Guinea, which grow to between 28 and 47 cm in length and weigh around 300 g. The name is a loanword from Wiradjuri guuguubarra, onomatopoeic of its call. Wikipedia Scientific name: Dacelo
I spotted this pair of juvenile Green Herons on a previous trip and they were pretty much in the same area as before. Even though they are juveniles, they sure can get around.

A pair of Stagecoach South Volvo B10M-62 Jonckheere Mistrals at Brighton Station on rail replacement service to Littlehampton on 23rd April, 2016. 52618 (411 DCD) was originally registered S458 BCE whilst sister 52618 (413 DCD) was previously S459 BCE.
Class 50 50019 Ramillies has just arrived at Newcastle with the Doncaster Test Train on 16th May 1984, whilst 20154 at the rear of a pair of the type passes.
Except for the center these rosettes are carved as a complementary set, meaning all the surface and shapes that got carved out in the first rosette I kept untouched in the second and vice versa. Additionally I stained the second rosette dark and added a used, worn out and old look in contrast to the smooth, light and newish appearance of the first rosette.
At first I was kind of irritated because of the unusual look of my second creation, but finally I actually came to like it rather fondly.

Bis auf das Zentrum ist die Rosette komplentär geschnitzt, d.h. alles was bei der ersten Rosette rausgeschnitzt wurde, habe ich bei diesem Exemplar stehen lassen und anders herum. Zusätzlich habe ich diese Rosette dunkel gebeizt und eine abgenutzte, alte, fast schon verschlissene Erscheinung verpasst im Gegensatz zum sauberen, hellen und neuwertigen Look der positiven Rosette.
Anfang war ich etwas irritiert wegen des ungewohnten Anblicks, aber inzwischen mag ich das rustikale Erscheinungsbild der negativen Rosette immer mehr.

Ancestry.com was very helpful on this one. There are a lot of Browns in the world but the combination of Baxter, Virginia and Roy popped up only once.
Royal Brown (1894-1973) apparently had only the two children Baxter Brown (1917-2007) and Virginia Brown (1919-2000). The three spent most of their lives in Kansas. Virginia lived and died in Herrington.
It was a windy day and this was reflected by the roughness of the water. I wonder if they are truly a pair. Seen on the east of Andrew Haydon park.

This Northern Pintail Pair had cut away from the crowd and a little closer to where I was waiting for them. They were very busy trying to find the best things to eat, so I had to be patient for them to lift their heads out of the water. In this instance, they both looked up right at the same time.

There were quite a few of these chaps at Sumburgh Head. The top of the headland has a lowish wall. It's quite a surprise to look over the top and find the puffins just the other side. These two were busy courting judging by their behaviour: tapping their bills together in a vigorous manner.
It was quite tricky getting a decent picture. My tele-zoom lens was at maximum focal length and the birds wouldn't stay still.
