The Kelp Goose is a striking species of coastal areas of southern Chile and Argentina. They are strikingly sexually dimorphic - adult males are all white while females are fancier, with brown backs and white bars on black underparts and an iridescent green wing bar. Both sexes show intensely yellow legs. The species forages on kelp along rocky shores in pairs and rarely forms larger flocks like other species of South American sheldgeese. A pair of Jays at the lake. I was watching to see if they would pick up nesting material but they were too wary.....
The pair of resplendent quetzals taking a rest from the task of building a nest in an old tree. For more than two hours the pair traded off going up to the tree where they were building their nest and slowly removed rotting wood.

R2292. A pair of ÖBB 760mm gauge 2190 class Bo diesels wait for departure time at Gmünd with a train to Litschau. These diminutive 4-wheel diesel-electric locomotives were introduced in 1934.
The town of Gmünd in north east Austria is situated right on the border with what was Czechoslovakia and this was very much in communist territory back in 1965. The 760mm gauge railway here extended to some 50 miles with three branches; it finally closed in 2001 but has since been revived as a tourist railway running from May to October. It uses a mixture of diesel railcars, steam and diesel traction.

Finger and Cell Phone
"Pen and Paper" used to go together well in the past, nowadays they are being replaced by "Finger and Cell Phone" !
Always nice to finish a bash with an oldie, and I was spoilt for choice with E112 and 116 following each other on the 147 into Canning Town.
I chose the latter, and the pair are seen on their stand at Canning Town. Note the AL Merton codes still on both. 17.12.24.
The male Kingfisher proves his worth by bringing presents of fish to his partner. Such skills must be proved as he'll have to provide food to his future offspring if they stand any chance of survival.
These sweet little semi porcelain ginkgo leaves are ideal for keeping beside the kitchen sink to lay your coffee or teaspoon in before it stains the counter. They are multi-functional and can be used as a trinket dish while you do the dishes or at your bedside, as a tea bag holder, a bonbon dish, or whatever little thing you want to put in them.

A pair of 'imposters' from Gateshead, 47 497, and 37 199 are seen here on Bath Road, on August 23rd 1986.
47 497 was built by Brush as D1940, entering service on June 16th 1966.
37 199 was built by Vulcan Foundry as D6899, entering service on October 10th 1963.

Taken by road to C.F.Booth, Rotherham, and arrived on 4/8/05. Dismantling started about 14/2/06, with only the cabs, frame and bogies remaining by 18/2/06. These were disposed of shortly afterwards.

Railfreight Class 37 pairing 37671 "Tre Pol and Pen" and 37674 "Saint Blaise Church 1445-1995" pictured along the Sea Wall between Dawlish and Dawlish Warren. The freight consist was a China clay working heading west.
Two CDV's from the Wright Family Photo Album II, that were carefully placed together in that album. They are by noted photographer Henry W. Immke, Princeton, Illinois, and probably date to about 1880. I'm quite sure they were a couple.
Photographer Henry W. Immke had a studio in the "North End" business district in Princeton, from 1867 to 1923. The Bureau County Historical Society (I'm on the Board of Directors) owns around 23,000 of his glass-plate negatives, along with ledgers identifying each of them. We also have much of his camera equipment on display in our museum.
