A boy goes into the kitchen and asks his mum, "How long's dinner?", His mum replies, "About 10 to 12 centimetres, it's a sausage". Hilarious we know, but when we were asked by Wicks Manor, a local farm, to rebrand their award winning sausages and bacon, we showed we can do serious too.
The rebrand aimed to position Wicks as a trustworthy, high-end brand, without alienating their existing "local" client base. The farm house illustration was seen as an integral part of the company's heritage and was retained for brand recognition. We integrated it into a solid, traditional-looking seal that symbolises a heritage product with quality production values.
We liaised closely with the client to develop strong bold colours and photography, used to achieve maximum shelf stand-out.
Already in some local leading supermarkets, but not all, the new look saw Wicks add their products to the rather posh shelves of Waitrose and the slightly less posh shelves of Asda. The buyer at Waitrose even commented that the new packaging should see the products “fly off the shelves!” (insert your own joke here about pigs and flying).

Great to see folks skipping the F icon and simply using the thumbs up.
Makes sense as its a clear call to action. In fact, Facebook changed the Fan action to Like because twice as many people would click Like.
And now we will be seeing similar actions offered on Facebook. It's a move to create more "lightweight user actions" on Facebook and create an environment of frictionless sharing.
It helps their advertising for one. But it also makes it easier to participate on Facebook.
As it is said, this is the era of pomp and show. What can be seen, sells. External packaging is the primary thing any of your clients are going to see. The Package design of any product is the backbones of its marketing – it Is what you base your marketing campaigns on.
Item packaging is what the audience considers when they take a look at the packing: it's the case the toy comes in, the jug with a name, the wrapper of a treat. Each & every layer of this packaging allows you to recount to a piece of your story. The packaging is incredible on the grounds that it performs at the 'last mile'.
We understand that package designing is the last stage of manufacturing a product and extremely important. While designing your package, we remember the theme of the products, the audience it needs to target and appeal to – all this while also keeping in mind to make it attractive & eye catchy. Package design can be somewhat of a hectic and nerve-wracking process, also because it is the last stage of the product manufacturing and also because this is what all the marketing campaigns are based on. For all the packaging thumbnails (book & box) I am mainly just playing around with type placement and a few design element ideas. So I need help on choosing what sort of layout works best or would be most interesting. I do want to keep things clean and simple as far as type and layout, but when it comes to illustration, that's where I want the eye to go immediately. As far as illustrations, they aren't complete, but I have them going in a certain direction to best fit the logo and the plot of each book.

I came home from my morning saturday class to find this package at my doorstep. I had no idea what it was, or any hint of what Angel would be sending me. The second I opened it, I automatically burst into tears. Angel, one of the most amazing women in the world, put together a beautiful and brilliant care package for me. And doing this with a theme is asking a very important question! Every single item included in my package is something I would see in the store and fall in love with instantly. I love you, Angel. You are kind beyond words, and loving to the point of no comparison. And of course, the answer is YES! I would love to be your bridesmaid! A thousand times yes! I can't wait to help make your big day a perfect memory you will cherish for a lifetime! Let's get this party started!
Neat item from my collection! This is a mock-up Micronaut package from Palisades' Toy Fair display, during the first marketing for their second series of Micronaut repros.
This is a color laserprint of the basic package design with a vintage Galactic Defender's photo added to it, glued to black foam core, with a hand-cut bubble stapled to it. A hole has been roughly stabbed though at the end of the J-hook area, so it could hang on a peg in the Palisades display booth.
No product was available, so this is all they had to show!
Package mock-ups are rather common at Toy Fair. They make for very curious items.
