After visiting the Outer Hebrides a few years ago Mireille and myself had already re-visited the lower half of the string of Scottish islands last year, and this year we decided that we would re-visit the top 2 islands that were missed out last year.

Having already visited 8 Scottish islands so far on our May holiday (Isles of May, Mull, Iona, Rum, Eigg, Canna, Sanday, Skye), it was time to set sail for numbers 9 and 10 on our list - the Isles of Lewis and Harris which lie at the North end of the Western Isles/Outer Hebrides, and are to be found in the Atlantic Ocean off the West coast of Scotland.

This image was taken during our few days enjoying some of the places on Lewis that we already know from previous visits, and a few new locations that we didn't have the chance to explore before.

Jazz and Colors returned to Central Park on 11.09.13. 30 bands, performed the same setlist in different places at the park from 12 pm to 4 pm.

I was a little late as I dropped by the USS New York for a short tour but I was able to hear 8 bands but went to 11 locations. By the time I arrived in Band 3's location, it was break time already. Band 8 didn't play during the encore time and I just missed Band 11 when I arrived at their designated place. It was great to see and hear them play and the foliage at the park was peaking. Autumn in Central Park and jazz music in the air, nothing can beat that.

Why rely on one set of washboards, when you can have two?

The outer sliding plastic washboards on this Dehler have been backed up with a lockable wooden set that slots in behind, and are deployed in bad weather.

Note also the thermos flask in a halyard bag.
