After a long and very wet winter in Washington State, spring finally emerges, and hopefully with it more dry weather and oppurtunities for picture taking.
Personally, for me it has been a very tough and challenging 3 month healthwise, and even though I am not totally healed yet, I am well enough to get out occasionally, weather permitting.
I want to thank all you so very much who have thought of me and wished me well!! It meant a lot to me!
When the sun shines in the winter in Alaska, the fox take full advantage of the warmth. Often times, the temperatures will still be well below zero farenheit but the radiant heat of the sun still brings warmth.
This fox was napping when it was spotted. Spent some time waiting for it to wake up and when it did, took the oppurtunity to snap some photos.
In the Arctic, where this photo was taken, the sun is always to the south. I imagine when the fox laid down, he was in the sunshine, but as the earth rotated, the fox then was in the shade. I believe that is why it woke up. It looked around, heard the clicking of the shutter, moved back into the sunshine and laid back down. It didn't stay long though, after another few minutes, it was up and trotting across the tundra in search of a meal.
Regno Unito, Londra, Heal’s staircase, Tottenham Court Road, Primavera 2015
Very close to my hospital, in the heart of Fitzrovia there is one of the most famous staircases in London...the heal's staircase...a very good photographic oppurtunity after work! The bronze cat sculpture was made by the French sculptor Chassagne. Sir Ambrose Heal, the owner of Heal's at that time, bought it in 1925, planning to sell it in the store; he liked it so much that this never happened.

Venice in Manila
There actually is a little Venice in Manila, the Philippines.
Ok, I'll admit, it's not the real Venice, lol.
But the effort they made to make a beautiful little place between the huge skyscrapers in the overcrowded city of is admirable.
It's good for a day visit, then you have really seen it. And ofcourse it is a good time to sit in a gondola. When we were in the real Venice we didn't have the time during our day visit, so this was a good oppurtunity to do the romantic thing in the gondola.
The stores you find here are, besides some famous Philippine restaurants, the usual ones we find in Europe of America. And the prices are also almost the same. When the people of the Philippines make an effort to build a touristical place or famous resort, don't expect Filipino prices.
Now capturing the other side of the car park; I went for a square frame because the sides were just too busy. It's all about the spiral, baby.
As we walked off, Michael told me that we had been watched the entire time by a bemused security guard. I was glad not to have noticed as it definitely would have put me off. The amount of times I've scurried off and missed a photographic oppurtunity!
So a followup to the previous posting. I've now circled around the photographer doing this wedding and took some shots behind him. He had this couple tossing the flowers up in the air several times.
Not really sure what he was hoping to achieve but it lent me a nice oppurtunity to take a few for all of us to enjoy now.

***Way too dark on my work monitor. More detail at home. Hopefully better for you all.
CSX M492 crosses a wooden trestle along the CSX Brunswick Subdivision in Waycross, GA.
As of early January 2023, CSX began routing all northbounds that used to traverse the Jesup Subdivision north of Waycross, to the Brunswick Subdivision where they run east toward Nahunta and turn north there allowing them to use the Nahunta Subdivision to Jesup. The reason for this change is unknown, however, with the length of trains increasing in todays age, the shorter sidings on the Jesup Subdivision cannot warrant meets of two 10,000' trains, however, they can do so on the Nahunta. This routing change also allows northbounds and southbounds running via the A-Line through Jesup/Savannah two routes into Waycross which could prove beneficial in cases of derailments or a need for multiple reroutes. For railfans, this change is nice because the Brunswick Subdivision, while fairly bland and boring, recieved one train which ran under darkness most of the time allowing for minimal photography oppurtunities along the line.
Managed to grab this during a small window in the abysmal weather we have been having lately, glad I went out despite the weather.
Calm and simple images are my favourite ones to make. Perhaps because it feels like an antidote to the pace of modern life,
The oppurtunities for that often come at the rivers where I feel I've had the most success with my photography.
The cloud
On one day in the Philippines ,we've seen this amazing cloud, think it's a Cumulonimbus capillatus cloud , which means stacked rain bringer. At the time of the year it was mostly partly clouded and a bit gray, so this was the only oppurtunity for me to take a picure of such a gorgeous cloud.
As we agreed to meet at the Speulderbos after sunrise, I thought I would make use of the oppurtunity and visit the Castle of Staverden at sunrise.
It is an enchanting place, especially with the small waterfall in front of it.

Another from the archives. This guy lives fairly close to where I live, in fact I've seen him on a fence post once here at home. I haven't seen much of him this winter, at least compared to last year, but I did spot him the other night just as it was getting dark, So maybe I'll get some more oppurtunities to photograph him some more.
Large on black is nice.
We had to drive down to Langdale yesterday to take part in a 10k pudding run , which meant a drive through the lakes to get there, and there was plenty of photo oppurtunities with the mist and the changing light. But I only had my panasonic point and shoot so managed a few shots, this one is a merge of three photos.
Press L for the best view ....
This is another photo i have of this wonderfull waterfall called skogarfossur in Iceland. It is massive and very meditated to look at. here are alot of turist so the oppurtunity of getting a photo of this place with out any people in it is very time comsuming and almost inpossible.
People can suprise you, even when you've been best friends with them for 8 years. I've had previous experience with spiked fences (usually bruising my arse and cutting my trousers...) and was rather put off going into the ruin due to its perimeter fencing.
Feeling glum about the lack of oppurtunity, I headed down the road to capture this shot. As I turned away to set up the tripod, Michael said "pass it over". Confused, I looked around and there he was, already on the other side of the fence. I clearly looked at him incredulously as he laughed. It turned out the 'padlocked' gate was just open with the padlock doing no securing whatsoever. Well done Michael - he always finds a way, somehow.
An early morning spent at Bushy Park for an oppurtunity to witness the stag rut. Very little rutting going in.
This photo was taken about 3:45 am in the Arctic Region of Alaska. The sun doesn't set for most of the summer so there is around the clock oppurtunities to take pictures. The Sagavanirktok River, (Bonus points for pronouncing the river name right), commonly called the Sag River, flows northerly in the background to the Beaufort Sea.
This young male was part of a herd of around 14 musk ox. He is crossing a muddy section to the tundra to eat the grasses that grow in the Arctic.
Picture of aWhite Egret coming in to Roost at Venice Rookery Florida USA. With the Sun going down I was after trying to capture the bird as it came in with wings spread showing the silouhette of the bird. It was a rookery so managed to get a few oppurtunities.
I never pass up an oppurtunity to shoot a Warbonnet, even if it's grown ugly with age, and especially when it's in the wee hours of a perfect summer night and Luna is shining brightly through the sparse cloud cover.
Burlington, Ia, as always.
Abundance of Wildlife and oppurtunity to witness nature is few of many reasons I keep going back to NWT, collectively they contribute to make NWT truly spectaculer. Needless to say I miss going back two years in a row because of prevailing circumstances, on one of earlier visits, I was lucky to spot this Black Bear cub munching on Berries, it was too busy and Ignored me for most of the encounter untill Mama reminded the dangers of humans with Long Lenses.
I know it is not the best shot, but it was a real oppurtunity to get a photo of this female in flight - she was planting her eggs inside the stems of reeds, I may post one of her later actually laying the eggs!
Weekend tomorrow!

This Western Diamond-backed Rattlesnake is lying in ambush. Waiting for just the right oppurtunity to take down a meal.
He was spotted after a couple hiking the area walked right past him without noticing he was sitting there.
It's amazing how they go undetected.
I need to kiss the sun to burn my eyes
There lies a truth behind I may despise.
Many a faces torn ,many a smiles gone
Many a beauties faded under life's disguise.
A fraction I am of a fraction of the universe
And what my dreams ? Oh what my eyes.
Such week a mort ,not solely mine
Such week a soul to pick virtue or vice.

Have A Good Day Ahead
Chickadee perched on a lichen covered branch in deep winter.
I have made it a part of my photography to photograph and share even the most common of species. Instead of striving to only get the most rare encounters this gives much more oppurtunity to get nice shots more frequently with not needing to devote tons of time for just a few images of something more rare. Following that mindset has made photography fun again and not like I am missing out when I can get to those rarest of places for the rarest of shots.

Rotterdam has so many oppurtunities to grab some great shots. This isn't my best one from Rotterdam, but it has some cool atmosphere.
I was allowed to take this shot in my university- at the physiology rooms! It was pretty funny to sit in this old denitists chair and shoot :-)
I am really thankful that I got the oppurtunity to shoot in university AGAIN :) and I will upload some behind the sences and before after within the next day!

Despite the winter, lately we have almost been witnessing temperature of spring. i saw this moment as an oppurtunity to take sunset photograps.
A Demon Overlord Tale (Edit) Thank You Vae Victis for the Staff and Krampus AO and oppurtunity to use the Sim for the Atmosphere. Also Thanx to Aii for all the great items that let me make this Insane Demon.
A night shoot at RAF Conningsby 13th October 2018, a great oppurtunity to get up close to the RAF GR4 Tornado, a plane that really packs a punch.
First Morning/Day in Degollado:
I felt rested, which was unexpected. We headed into the Plaza where we hung out for a bit. And it gave me an oppurtunity to grab the shots you've just seen.
I found myself looking everywhere, at everything and at everyone. It's always great to immerse yourself in an unfamiliar environment. Though, it wasn't completely foreign to me. It kept bringing back memories of my time in El Salvador.
Take this store for example.
We made our way to Ame's house where we met some of her family. Again, I felt very welcome. Across her house is an empty plot of land, where part of it is occupied by a thorny, greenish/blue agave plants. And up a few houses was this store. You will find these types of stores on almost every street. And being in one always takes me back to my childhood. Its a great feeling. They're not well lit, but it's better than the cold buzzing lights of say, a 7-Eleven. And they always have the best snack food.
Having touched base with some of Ame's family, we decided to take a trip outside of Degollado.
I was already in love with this place and it was only 2 in the afternoon. It's nothing like the major cities or towns I'm used to now, but it's everything like my childhood.

www.scottishphotographyhides.co.uk For over a week now this bird has been visiting the perches at the Sparrowhawk hide several times a day. Along with the Tawny Owl we have regular appearances from Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Red Kite, Red Squirrel, Jay, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Lesser Redpoll, Goldfinch, Siskin, Roe Deer and chances of Green Woodpecker too. This was taken today. I was not working but didn't really plan to shoot because it was raining heavily in the afternoon. When the weather is fine it was 5.30 pm & i just grab my stuff & head to this spot which is less 10 minutes drive from my home. But I underestimated the traffic & very frustrated looking at the wonderful big full soft orange sun is setting down in the horizon..ohh man!!! I missed it!! I'm still in the car..wargghhh. Feel like i just wanna drive back home for that missing oppurtunity.Hmmm..but i guess you just cannot feel lost for something that you don't have cause God will gives something back in another way & always even better than what you've missed. Peace to you my friend.
Taking the oppurtunity to dodge the showers the sun comeou for me to take this shot. Swaledale Yorkshire
Finding a fox den is probably one of the best photo oppurtunities for cute photos. The kits are naturally curious and are full of ambition. After visiting the den regularly, the kits will become comfortable with a humans presence.
This was taken on the tundra of Alaska's northern Arctic region. There were eight kits in this den and they were a hoot to photograph. This kit had just woke up from a nap and was sitting watching its siblings at play. I love its long tail, pointy nose and beautiful orange fur.
I no longer travel to the Arctic, did so for work, and I truly miss the wildlife of the North. In my ten years there, I was privileged to see both Red Fox and Arctic Fox, Wolves, Grizzly and Polar Bears, Musk Oxen, Caribou, and many different species of ducks, geese, raptors, owls and swans. The Arctic truly is a very special place for wildlife.
Went Saturday to the orchards of a friend. I know that the goldfinches are there at this moment.
They always are together now, female and the male. Female is searching for nestmaterial in the blossom and branches and the male, like this one is watching everything.
The oppurtunity for me to capture these beautiful birds. My absolute favorites !
No camouflage, handheld shot.

To my surprise its been over 2 years since I last photographed diving Kingfishers. However as the pool was frozen over today I took the oppurtunity to break a hole in the ice and watch the master getting some much needed food at this difficult time of year.
