When the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk isn't running it's operating season, it's really fun to come and take pictures because nobody is around. At noon at an off-season Boardwalk, the only people there are families going for a walk, and people you might want to avoid. This day was really cloudy, so I got a few shots like this.

Dot's here in body but she's starting to drift off . . . Who can blame her: it's a warm sunny morning and I've been doing nothing but my Spanish homework for hours.
April 19, 2025: About 1500 "Hands Off!" protesters at the intersection of Lynn Road and Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks. This was one of many nationwide protests against President Trump's policies.
Gull's taking off. Every few minutes the gull's had a little fly around for a little while then settled down again, nothing there spooking them!
Newark, New Jersey.
I'm going to give the parade pictures a rest for a while, after all I did go on a little trip recently, and wanted to share those pics too. So tomorrow it'll be back to the Pacific Northwest...

Many travelers are annoyed when their airplane has to stop its taxi in from the runway while other planes are cleared for takeoff. Me...I like the mini-airshow we are treated to as a variety of aircraft launch right in front of us.
Here I get a front row view as a Delta Boeing 757 rotates at DTW.
Looks like a gargoyle! Cormorants have been challenging for me to photograph - I did not get a good focus on its eye but this is my best so far.
Cornell says, "The gangly Double-crested Cormorant is a prehistoric-looking, matte-black fishing bird with yellow-orange facial skin. Though they look like a combination of a goose and a loon, they are relatives of frigatebirds and boobies and are a common sight around fresh and salt water across North America—perhaps attracting the most attention when they stand on docks, rocky islands, and channel markers, their wings spread out to dry. These solid, heavy-boned birds are experts at diving to catch small fish." - www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Double-crested_Cormorant/id
In Honor of National Chili Day, the FACVB held a Chili Cook Off. We invited Fayetteville Fire Station #1 to attend and be our taste testers.
I watched this man walk along the bank from his house and waited to take the shot as he crossed the river.
