May 29, 2015 - A lucky group of Native American students from the Havasupai Indian tribe are preparing for a white-water rafting trip to learn about the Grand Canyon. They were selected for this trip and I was so excited for them! After watching the excitement on their faces as they set sail I really want to do this trip one day as well!
The District of Columbia War Memorial commemorating those District residents who fought in World War I, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. It appeared to be fenced off due to being in a state of disrepair.
You delight to that I hear.

When the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk isn't running it's operating season, it's really fun to come and take pictures because nobody is around. At noon at an off-season Boardwalk, the only people there are families going for a walk, and people you might want to avoid. This day was really cloudy, so I got a few shots like this.

The strong off shore flow of wind from the high pressure over Nevada along with high waves from an Alaskan storm made for some amazing waves along the California coast. We stopped at Waddell State Beach about 22 miles north west of Santa Cruz to admire the blow back.
These ants seemed to be herding aphids. 24mm prime reversed and mounted on an extension tube. Flash mounted on a bracket. Was able to sit on a park bench to take these, was nice after a few hours of crouching and kneeling to get other shots.
The excellent thing that happened today was sister bonding time. Ran some errands and had many, many laughs.
Everything else wasn't nearly as excellent. Let's just leave it at that.
Didn't particularly feel like being in front of the camera today.
...into the wild blue yonder.
Many travelers are annoyed when their airplane has to stop its taxi in from the runway while other planes are cleared for takeoff. Me...I like the mini-airshow we are treated to as a variety of aircraft launch right in front of us.
Here I get a front row view as a Delta Boeing 757 rotates at DTW.
Much better than the first attempt, but slightly off center and wrinkled. I'll keep this face for a while though, maybe try sealing it - I like the looks of it.
In Honor of National Chili Day, the FACVB held a Chili Cook Off. We invited Fayetteville Fire Station #1 to attend and be our taste testers.
