still working on but just a bunch of heads choped off and staked to roof.

D showing off the new door he just hung in the nursery. A previous owner sawed the original door in half to make double doors, but it was too hard to shut the cats out of the room with those, so we borrowed this one from the dining room.

I was walking to the car with my camera bag and my wife told me to look at the bird feeder. This fellow was sitting on it with me less than 3 feet from him. I slipped out my A55 that happened to have my "new" Minolta 28-85 on it and got a couple of shots before it finally spooked and flew off.

This is a view of some of the building backs taken from a parking lot off King William Street in downtown Hamilton, Ontario. The title comes from the sign above and to the left of the door. Interestingly, I became aware that another flickr member, Glenn Pfab, had also photographed the same location. Seems we have been stumbling about in the same parts of Hamilton, looking for local colour (or monochrome in this case) For his take on this location have a look at:

Taken using a hand-held Nikon D5000 fitted with a Nikkor 18-105mm VR lense set to 24mm, ISO400, Aperture priority mode, f/5.6, 1/50 sec. PP in GIMP: convert to black and white using Ilford Delta 100 film simulation, adjust contrast slightly until this harder-looking result was obtained, sharpen, add border and scale to 1024 wide for posting.

I guess that setting up your tripod low to the ground and not looking through it or looking at your level to make sure the horizon is horizontal is not the best course of action. But I think this shot of the Potter Palmer memorial in Graceland Cemetery turned out reasonably okay, all things considered.

Tried to get some shots of oystercatchers on the shoreline but my lens isn't big enough to take a shot from a long distance so as I got closer they too off!
