Overnight flight LHR to Delhi, with Jet Airways and onward flight to Kathmandu to rendezvous with Charles and Val back at the (seemingly unscathed) Hotel Marshyangdi.
Dinner at Thakali Bhanchha - a local Thali / Mo Mo place - then back to repack for the trip!

Another from last Saturday night at the Hawthorne Theater in Portland, OR. OFF! headlined a show with Plague Vendor and WORWS opening. Hopefully I captured the energy and fun of OFF!'s performance.
I saw this pair and had to laugh. Not sure what they are trying to accomplish, but it made for a cute shot anyhow. No I did not pluck the fluffy one and make any wishes, I should, I could use a few to come true. But I will wait a few days till I get a handful of fluffies....I have a plan for them!
The rest of the dandelions will be beheaded and washed, then I will attempt to make Dandelion Honey. But, there are photos to take first, shots to be had, and memories to capture. Hoping to hold off hubby until at least next weekend, then I will let him mow. (unless the neighbors get together first and buy a truck full of that weed killer that works overnight. I would not like waking up to a yard full of dead dandies...but the look on my face would make for a very funny picture. Like that will ever happen!)
Fruit and vegetable sculpture at its most fun! This event included food sculpture demonstrations by chefs and artists and visitors to the event. People of all ages gave it a try.
Drake being chased off by the resident pair of Mallards who seem to be the Cygnets God Parents and help Dad Swan keep other waterfowl from getting too close to the nest.

Raft (2017)
Hello and happy new year. I'm starting off the new year with a goal of finally getting through all of the Japanese CDs that I have piled up over here. It's amazing that I still have records that I bought in Japan last year that I haven't gotten to. Couple that with a few spots of mailorder over the past year and I have a pile that has been sorely neglected.
First up for 2018 is this Without EP. I can't say I know a whole lot about them outside of the three songs on this CD, but I'm sure it was recommended to me as something I'd like. That recommendation was correct, this is good stuff. Without have an interesting combination of the sort of Snuffy Smiles Japanese punk rock sound mixed with slightly more melodic (some might say emo) tendencies. The band has a knack of having explosive verses and catchy choruses, but then you'll come across a really dynamic breakdown or outro.
In particular the ending of the song "Dislike" really reminds me of the sort of thing that you would have heard from the Get Up Kids back when they were good. You know, on that first CD EP. The only time the Get Up Kids were really, really good. Anyway, Without captures those sort of energetic detours and manages to integrate them seamlessly into the rest of their punk rock. This is a very strong debut EP and I hope it isn't the last I hear from Without.

:-) My day started off crazy.. my usual retail therapy has been put on hold until after noon today - apparently National Australia Bank's system had a crash last night right around the time money went into my account.. so no transactions after that cleared...so in honour of that....
