I think this was his way of telling me that I was getting too close! I've seen America's Funniest Home Videos and I wasn't about to subject myself to the humiliation of a Goose Chase in front of the whole community!

A snow monkey hugs her child close in the hot spring waters of Jigukudani in Nagano while flakes of snow dance around them. There really is nothing more powerful than the love of a mother.

The Southwest Illinois Division of United Way of Greater St. Louis held its 2013 “Hollywood Premiere” Campaign Kick Off event at the Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville, IL, on Thursday, August 29, 2013. Attendees arrived in style complete with a red carpet and an agency “Walk of Stars.” More than 120 guests enjoyed a selection of local restaurant samplings, a United Way agency presentation from Villie Appoo, CEO of Girls Scouts of Southern Illinois, a campaign video showing on the big screen, and were the first to hear the announcement of this year’s campaign goal. The 2013 Campaign Goal for the Southwest Illinois Division of United Way is $1,860,000.

This shot was taken right off our back deck! It was very impromptu so the lighting set up was very simple. I used one sb900 to the front left of the subject fired through an umbrella. I purposely underexposed the background about a stop.

to get away from Les Beaux-de-Provence Tourist trap we went off road along a track and stopped for a picnic lunch

Esquimalt Rd., at the approach to the Johnson St. Bridge into Victoria, BC.

Costing for the bridge replacement project was first complicated by disparate elements aimed at taking advantage of the new crossing to address other transportation challenges.

The awkward curve from the bridge underneath the rail line to routes west of the bridge generated numbers of accidents that cost the public insurer no small change and had traumatic and sometimes tragic consequences for road users.

The equally ungainly access to the roadway from off-road trails alongside the railway and the nearby Galloping Goose were also targeted for improvement as part of the new road layout beyond the edge of the bridge project.

For taxpayers and insurance policy holders, the newly aligned road should return positive net benefits in collision reductions earned in reduced costs and liability exposures.

We were coming back to Krakow from the festival, and it was my turn driving Mike's car, which is, er, temperamental to say the least. Right after we leave the town and get on the highway, the lights begin to dim. It keeps getting worse, to the point where the radio stops playing whenever I use the blinker and the dashboard gets so dim I can't see how fast I'm going. Of course, it's the middle of the night so it's dark as hell outside, and my headlights illuminate maybe 1 metre in front of me. After a while of this, it starts protesting when I press the gas, and I know at this point the only way we'll make it home is if I don't stop the whole way there. Unfortunately, about 10 km outside of Krakow there's a toll booth, which would prove to be too much for the poor Mitsubishi, and it dies as I'm desperately trying not to stop while handing the toll guy my ticket. We push it through the booth, and luckily Mike's dad came to the rescue, and we got home in one piece, which is more than we can say for the Mitsu. RIP.

April 2010

Summer is a comin in. They're burning off in the National Parks which surround me. And there is a smell of gums burning drifting on the smoke through my front door.

Getting back to my roots and trying to occupy space.

Yes, that is a pair of pajama pants around my head.

I can 'just' touch my first two fingers but cannot grip anything heavier than a handkerchief. Real, em, "handy" for a photographer..
