It happens like this:
You squint your eyes open
after walking on clouds in last night’s dreams
and the city comes into view:
a vast glistening kingdom built on the shoulders of despair and joy.
As the city comes into focus slowly,
you shut your eyes abruptly
sending up every wish that rests on the tip of your tongue
soaring on the barest whisper of a breeze
up towards the sky.
And then you blink your eyes open
hoping none of this
was in vain.
It wasn’t.

I noticed they were testing the 9/11 Tribute in Lights yesterday. Was able to capture this shot before they turned them off. Testing should be occurring for the next few days as each individual light has to be aimed.
The Tribute lights aren't actually in the same location of the Twin Towers. They should've been incorporated into the reflecting pools.

Managed to catch the Tribute in Lights being tested on 9/7/16. 15 years has gone by but it still feels just like yesterday, Never Forget.
The Towers of Light went dim at 11:15. I thought they were off for the night. Looked out my window about 40 minutes later and they were back on and the sky was filled with clouds. This was actually taken 5 minutes after midnight.
Brooklyn Heights Promenade
This pedestrian walkway offers spectacular views of Downtown Manhattan, the East River and the Brooklyn Bridge. It’s a favorite destination for joggers, walkers and Rollerbladers, but it also offers a quiet atmosphere for those who prefer to just sit, chat and enjoy the view. The Promenade is lined with grand town houses and mansions, and is part of Brooklyn’s first Historic Preservation District. (www.nycgo.com/venues/brooklyn-heights-promenade)
