study for portrait of SS Oberfuhrer Dr. Victor Brack for "Doctors of Death" project shown at Southwest Texas State University art gallery in 1985. /from my own recently found notes on project a translation of a letter Dr. Brack send to Reichsfuhrer Heinrich Himmler, June 1942. Dear Reichsfuhrer! Allow me to remind you that it has been over a year now since we discussed the sterilization of some two million jews, so as to render them incapable to reproduce yet utilize them for labor. At that time you liked the idea but objected to the cost and time allocated to this enterprise. I am now happy to report to you that my staff ,working diligently came up with a new process which will accomplish the same results in the shortest of time and at a fraction of the cost, I am now talking about castration via X ray a method proven at various concentration camps, in short we can now sterilize thousands of Jews in the shortest time; considering the presen labour shortages I urge you to act quickly, so we can proceed. Let me assure you that my physicians and the entire medical staff is at your disposal. Should you, dear Reichsfuhrer decide to apply my castration method, kindly instruct Reichsfuhrer Bouhler so he may notify all departments of the approval of project. Heil Hitler, Yours truly. Victor

This great horned owl was well concealed in a palm tree when it hooted and notified me that it was there. It came back to the same tree for several days; and it was actually the next week that this photograph was taken when the face became visible as the owl looked down at the photographer with one eye.

My selfless devotion to rooting out the truth about the invasion of Earth from beings from another planet has once again been justified as I have no doubt that I've discovered their landing ships turned living quarters that they dwell in as they adapt to our atmosphere and gravity. These 'comfort stations' found on Coney Island will surely be appearing in heavily populated areas near you. Keep on the lookout and notify your local S.I.M.P.L.E. (Space Invaders Monitoring and Protective League Entente) should you encounter these sinister structures or anything with these strange alien markings. I'm going in for a closer look, if you don't hear back from me it's been swell kids.

In the late winter, I applied to have one of my images included in the Town of Taos' "Taos is Art" street sign banner project. After a few weeks, I was notified and told my images were one of the selections! When they started popping up on street laps around town, I kept my eyes peeled while driving around, but I couldn't find the banner with my photo on it.
I was unaware of a handful of banners along the walking path between the Plaza and the John Dunn Shops. So Kelly, Stella, and I went to that area and found mine hanging here. It is next to several popular restaurants with outdoor seating and a heavily trafficked walking area. This is an even better spot for more eyes to see it than on the road as people will be walking by slowly and many sitting down near it.
I took the photo on the banner in the summer of 2020 when Comet NEOWISE passed by. I am honored to have my photo included in this project in this town packed with great artists.
On our way home from capturing a few trains in the area of Tilburg, I got notified that BLS would be driving a train with tankcars from Pernis to Germany and Switzerland.
With a little bit of luck we could reach a place near Willemsdorp in order to capture the train. With a little bit of creativity we managed to get a decent picture of this train.

"A steward in Tzarevna Natalya's household took his time to reach Dashkova's apartments to notify that Tzarevich Pavel has been keeping guests waiting for hours on end, many fatigued by his caprice. Knyaginya Dashkova raised her eyebrows, then laughed in disbelief thinking His Highness has gone insane.
On Tzarevna's request, Dashkova extended an open invitation for people to join her for an intimate game of cards to divert people's attention away from his bouts of insanity. Or so people hear."

"In July, 1955, Harry Feather, geologist at Wichita Falls, Texas, notified the director of the University of Oklahoma Museum of his recent discovery of a Spanish arrastra in the Wichita Mountains of Southwestern Oklahoma. Mr. Feather supplied a crudely drawn map of the approximate site and suggested that the Museum consider restoring it as a coatribution to the early history of the region. Nothing was done about following up the suggestion until June, 1956, at which time this writer and Dr. Sherman Lawton, archaeologists by avocation, set out for the Mountains on a brief exploratory venture. "
After failed attempts from a crudely drawn map, the archaelogists enlisted the help of a ranger who had seen the arrastra. It's location is still not marked, but with some decent directions and google maps with a weak cell signal, I was able to locate the site. Arrastras were crude ore mills. 11/16/2020 - I was notified by the Maryland Biodiversity Project that this dragonfly was the first to be observed for "Bristol Quad (38076_G6) in Maryland. www.marylandbiodiversity.com/record/770363
I had a hard time identifying this dragonfly. I could not find a match as I searched the web. Thanks to Richard Orr my friend and expert in this field for his identification. His comment to me: "Yes, I understand how this could be difficult to identify. Not only is it a somewhat rare dragonfly, but it is also undergoing a color change.
it is a male (young adult just becoming sexually mature -- thus an intermediate between the color of the young adult and a mature adult), Yellow-sided Skimmer (Libellula flavida). Nice find & Photo!"

Due to labor agreements, the U.S. crews handle the switching after arriving in town, and a couple hours later the Canadian Crew shows up, notifies Custom Officials and awaits the official’s arrival to inspect the train as they depart town for Province of Quebec.
My friend Danny kindly notified me that this Say's Phoebe had been seen in Ottawa for the past 3 days. It is a first sighting ever for here.
This bird is also a life list addition for me so I was very happy to see it. I saw it briefly for a few seconds shortly after noon time. A number of other birders and photographers had seen it earlier. The bird few off but I and several others decided to stay in case it returned.
The bird was rediscovered about 500 meters away and on the opposite side of a gravel road. It was foraging about 30-40 meters from the road behind a 8 foot chain ink fence. This image is a very big crop but I'm pleased to have my first photos of this species.

Back in the 1960's the talks of a merger between Ford and Ferrari were taking place, but in the end the merger never materialized. Ford wanted a race car for events like Lemans and others, and a merger between they and Ferrari would have made that path much shorter, and easier to come by. When it became apparent that all bets were off between the two, and maybe for reasons attributed to nothing more than egos, it then was as though Ford, now more than ever, wanted to build a car and one directly targeted at Ferrari, and the story of the GT40 began. And, at the beginning, the story wasn't a smooth one. With only months to design, build, and test a car before the car's first planned race was going to be a monumental task! But Ford put a great team together to take on the challenge and they did meet that deadline. All were very enthusiastic, however, meeting a deadline was only part of the challenge...having a car, or cars that could be in the winner's circle at the end of the race was the real goal. Sadly, on their first time out they were met with mechanical failures, and once more it was back to the drawing boards and decisions on subtle exterior design changes, engine changes (289ci - 427ci) brakes, and gearbox changes were made. Now, let me move ahead to June of 1966, and the Lemans Race against the Ferraris, and what Ford was now hoping to be victorious in doing so.
As the day of the race drew closer, the Ford Le Mans Committee arrived to support the team. Henry Ford II had been named honorary chairman of the race and would serve as starter with his wife and son Edsel with him in tow. As the clock hit 4:00 PM on June 18th, Henry Ford II waved the starter flag and the drivers ran across the track to start their cars and the race. Ken Miles, who had the second fastest qualifying time after Gurney, had immediate issues as the door struck his helmet and he had to quickly pit for repairs. The rest of the cars roared on with the Fords and Ferraris trading the lead through much of the early race. The crowds watched knowing that the Fords had often been the fastest cars but never completed the endurance race. After midnight, the tables began to turn. The Ferraris began to drop out with mechanical difficulties and while Ford had some withdrawals, the bulk of the team raced on and at one point held the 1-2-3-5-8 spots. By 4:00 AM, the last of the Ferraris was out of the race and the order went out for the teams to slow the pace to ensure the most cars could complete the race. The drivers slowed from the early pace of 3:30 per lap to a more strategic 3:50 per lap. Dan Gurney was in the lead most of the evening, with the Ken Miles and Bruce McLaren teams trading 2nd and 3rd place depending upon their pit stop order. When Gurney’s car went out with engine problems around 10:00AM, Ford still had the first three places between the Shelby American and Holman Moody teams.
With two hours left in the race, Leo Beebe and Carroll Shelby met to discuss the end of the race. With the Ford cars running 1-2-3, there was little question as to winning the race, but what order should the finish take? If Miles and McLaren continued their personal race, a malfunction such as the one Dan Gurney had at Sebring might occur. The team also discussed having the cars come across in a tie and inquired of the ACO (Le Mans race organizing committee) if that was permitted. The ACO agreed that this was possible and so the drivers (at this time Ken Miles and Bruce McLaren) were told the news at their next pit stop. While neither was thrilled with the decision, both acquiesced with Ken Miles saying “I work for the Ford Motor Company… if they want me to win the race, why, I’ll do it… and if they ask me to jump in a lake, why I’ll guess I will have to do that as well.”
Miles (who had just taken the lead during a McLaren pit stop) and McLaren began to slow down to allow the third car, driven by the Holman & Moody driver Dick Hutcherson to catch up. By this time, word had come back from the ACO that a tie would in fact not be permitted and since the Bruce McLaren team had started 8 meters further back from the start line it would have traveled further and would be declared the winner. The ACO ruling is a matter of some debate as there was nothing written in the sporting regulations from that year that accounted for the rules in the event of a tie.
The decision to notify the drivers of the change in ACO policy rested with Leo Beebe and Carroll Shelby. As the two conferred, there were a number of considerations. While Ken Miles had done the bulk of the race prep work on the Mark II to prepare it for competition since his first drive in February, 1965, Bruce McLaren had been with the program since its inception in 1963 and had always been a true team player driving at the assigned speed. Both drivers felt they could win in a race to the finish as neither had more than a lap or two lead during the second half of the race. Leo Beebe ultimately made the decision to not notify the drivers and let the dead heat occur, which would make the McLaren team the victor. Beebe later noted that “to have Ken win would have been more expedient and popular, but the extent to which McLaren and Amon had played exactly according to our rules mitigated against Miles. The result was not necessarily even popular with me.” Ultimately, Beebe felt that Ken Miles trying to push the Dan Gurney car at Sebring was a big enough strike against him to give the nod to the McLaren/Amon team.
During the final lap, the three Ford cars rode in tandem with Miles and McLaren crossing the finish line in a dead heat with Hutcherson close behind in 3rd place. Photos at the time appear to show McLaren surging ahead at the final moment, but the checkered flag is actually waved some distance from the final finish line, which was being monitored by newly installed IBM electronic time keeping devices. The photo finish was intact. As the cars approached the victory circle, Ken Miles and fellow driver Denny Hulme who hanging out of the passenger side door, were surprised when they were waved off to allow McLaren and Amon to the victory podium. Both were crestfallen when they learned of the changed ACO rule interpretation, but Ken Miles had the most to lose. He would have been the first driver to win Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans in the same year. In an interview a few months after the race he was philosophical, noting once again that he worked for Ford and would accept whatever outcome occurred.
This victory was a culmination of three years of engineering, design, and research to develop a winning car and winning team. Motorsport racing requires a combination of engineering, artistry and intuition from the drivers. With the Mark II all three elements were in play. Ford Motor Company engineering did tremendous work on the elements of the car and many were highlighted in papers to the Society of Automotive Engineers, while the stellar teams of Shelby American and Holman & Moody provided the artistry to turn the cars into unbeatable racing machines, and the drivers provided the vision and courage to navigate the difficult courses.
Hey everyone,
Im doing this to notify everyone I am still alive. Unfortunately that’s not all. I feel as if I have lost my love towards photography. All creativity has been swept out of my mind. I pick up my camera with no motivation anymore. I do not want to say that I am “over” photography because I am not. I will still be taking photos as I please I will upload here and there of course just to stay connected with the flickr community. I miss home and I miss my friends. Im tired of taking photos of myself the whole concept has begun to bore me.
I guess it is safe to say that my 365 is going to be discontinued on flickr. I am going to take photos, but I doubt I will upload all of them. So im taking a break from this. From it all you will here from me now and again just not as frequent as before.
I want to apologize to everyone I have put hopes up for. The (52 week project) and anything else ive put promises on. You do not have to forgive me but none of you have been forgotten. Everyone of you that I have met on flickr are truly awesome. Keep up all your hard work and I commend you all for the dedication and the aspiration that you have to keep furthering your photography!
Goodbye for now,
-Dejenee

Recently Royal Mail has announced plans to cut 10,000 jobs by next August, blaming ongoing strike action and rising losses at the business.
The postal company said it will begin notifying workers of its plan, which includes up to 6,000 redundancies.
Apart from the redundancies, the firm will cut roles through natural attrition, for example by not replacing workers who leave.
Are we in for another "Winter of discontent" ?
(The Winter of Discontent was the period between November 1978 and February 1979 in the United Kingdom characterised by widespread strikes by private, and later public, sector.
Callaghan's government fell to a no-confidence vote. Once in power, the Conservatives, who under Thatcher's leadership had begun criticising the unions as too powerful, passed legislation, similar to that proposed in a Labour white paper a decade earlier, that banned many practices, such as secondary picketing).
Many similarities to the present - more information -
