The trail follows the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, one of the thirteen UNESCO World Biosphere Reserves in Canada, for almost 900 km (560 mi). The land the trail traverses is owned by the Government of Ontario, local municipalities, local conservation authorities, private landowners and the Bruce Trail Conservancy (BTC).
The name of the trail is linked to the Bruce Peninsula and Bruce County, which the trail runs through. The trail is named after the county, which was named after James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin who was Governor General of the Province of Canada from 1847 to 1854
A brother and sister Rufous Hummingbird chicks.
I had planned to continue uploading and catching up with your shots after I uploaded the previous owl shot, but a number of nature/photography 'miracles' happened, including this one.
A photographer friend of mine notified me as to the location of this nest site. (His name is Terry Venables and his blog is located here: www.NaturalImagesCanada.ca/blog He is nature photographer that specializes in hummingbirds).
A video/photographic amalgamation has been made of the first day I spent at the nest when the chicks were three days away from fledging, and can be view on my YouTube channel here: youtu.be/4jh8G1U1Ztk It showcases the juxtaposition of chicks at relative rest and the frenzy of activity that occurs seconds after feeding.
Needless to say, with the juggle of life being challenging enough, I utilized every spare hour to spend some quiet time with these two before they left. (I haven't even had the time to look at most of my images!).
This week, I also received my 2 part-time jobs back, it's my husbands birthday tomorrow, my daughter is graduating next week, and I begin to realize, that though I miss you, my friends on Flickr, I will most likely have to wait till the dust settles to catch up.
I look forward to it! In the meantime, please have patience with me, until then... :)

First mountain refuge.
This is the route that goes up to Cerro López in Bariloche from "la panchería" in Circuito Chico. The path goes up the rocks on the side of Arroyo López, quickly gaining height and opening up to the first viewpoints with views of Cerro López, Cerro Llao Llao and Lake Nahuel Huapi. After crossing a sector with rocks, the path enters the forest until reaching the "first refuge" of Cerro López, also known as Refugio Roca Negra. Here I rested and enjoyed the views of the Llao Llao area before continuing towards the next refuge, Refugio López.
From Refugio Roca Negra, the trail continues up steeply through the forest until the trail becomes a slightly wider and flatter path, although it still has a slight slope. If you pay attention on the way up after the first refuge, you can see the red Refugio López further up the mountain.
After walking a little along this wider and flatter path, I crossed a stream and then the path continues uphill, more and more pronounced, until I reached the door of the refuge. Many choose to stay here to enjoy the views and eat something tasty, but I still wanted to continue climbing the mountain and it was not too late, I continued to the summit of Cerro López (Pico Turístico), notifying the refugee in advance, charging and respected the instructions she gave me.
It is best to make this climb from Refúgio López to Pico Turístico in good weather to enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramic views in all of Bariloche with a clear sky. If you want to reach Pico Turístico and not just Refugio López, it's important to start the day very early, even in the summer months! For everyone's safety, refugees usually don't let you up after noon.
Most hike during the day, but Refúgio López has beds for those who want to stay overnight, and also has a camping area outside the refuge with beautiful views of the hill. During the winter, Cerro López becomes a cross-country ski destination in Bariloche.

This week I did an internet search to see if any of my copyrighted photos were being used on other websites and I found one of my flower photos posted on Fort Worth Florist Facebook's timeline. They had a ton of flower images that were from Flickr users saying that the photo was posted by us...many names I recognize on Flickr on a daily basis. I contacted the florist using their website form and asked them to take down my photo.....they didn't! I am not a Facebook user but did find a FB copyright infringement form to fill out to notify them of my stolen photo. After proving that the photo was mine and that it was copyright protected, FB took my photo down immediately but left everyone else's. I then emailed Flickr at their copyright infringement department and told them of all the copyrighted Flickr photos on this FB account. By the next day, all the photos had been removed from this thief's timeline, yay!!
I wanted Flickr friends to be aware that even if you are stating that your photos are copyrighted, they are still being stolen!! I'm not sure what the solution is to this problem; check your Flickr Privacy and Permission settings and do internet searches. I also found these links if you want to check your settings: www.flickr.com/account/prefs/downloads/?from=privacy
www.flickr.com/account/prefs/sharing?from=privacy
Thanks so much for your visits, faves and comments. Have a great day!!

I can't believe it... I WON!! :) I entered a photography contest for a provincial weather station called "Meteo Media" and I just got notified that I WON with this capture!!!
I can't believe it,,, and I'm so excited!! I took this capture last Fall (as some of view might remember this shot, since I posted it last year, here)
The station contacted me to tell me the great news and that within the month I will be receiving a small parcel with a few winning gifts. My capture will be either used or exposed on their website or exposed on their TV station. :-))) OMG... so happy!! My first real win in photography!! How fantastic is this!!
This Long-billed Dowitcher was photographed near Utqiaġvik, Alaska, during breeding season, standing tall on a tundra perch like he was auditioning for a solo in the Arctic choir. And he was. Males take the high ground to deliver rapid, piping calls—keek-keek-keek-keek-keek!—part love song, part turf warning. Rivals are notified. Females, ideally, are swooning. If not, well—he still looks fabulous doing it.
Dowitchers are shorebirds engineered for mud. Their bills don’t just stab and slurp—they pinch. The flexible tip works like forceps, able to grasp prey deep in the muck without opening the beak and filling it with sludge. It’s like using chopsticks with built-in fingers.
Inside those bill tips are Herbst corpuscles—pressure-sensitive nerves that detect the faintest wiggle from prey hiding below the surface. Even when they can’t see the food, they can feel it moving.
He’s a performer, a mud-prober, and a living multitool—proving once again that Arctic love songs are better with tweezers.
Well he is still here so I am loading up as many photos as I can get. Soon he will begin his long migration south. His calls have almost stopped and now he only vocalizes in the early morning to notify the young where he is. I have one photo of what I believe is a youngster which I will post tomorrow.

Start over o darling
Begin again…””

Neo-Romanesque silver urn made in 1880 to store the relics of the Apostle Santiago and his disciples Athanasius and Theodore, after being located in the basement of the Compostela cathedral in January 1879.
The first time they were located in Spain was in the 9th century. In the year 825, a hermit named Pelayo was surprised by some striking lights that emerged from the earth. He notified Bishop Teodomiro de Iria Flavia who discovered that the lights indicated the exact place where the disciples had buried the body of the beheaded Saint James the Greater, hidden behind dense vegetation. It was a bright and fixed star (from where Campus Stellae, Compostela) indicated where the tomb was.
Teodomiro did not take long to go to the place, today Santiago de Compostela. And once there he found a marble slab, some human bones and came to the conclusion that the remains of that body belonged to the apostle.

Meoto Iwa (Wedded Rocks), Ise, Japan
On Thursday, I got the opportunity to photograph a location that for me, has symbolised Japan perfectly and that location is the Wedded Rocks of Meoto Iwa.
These two rocks in the ocean, which are located just offshore, are eternally bound with a thick ceremonial rope. This romantic spot is recognized as one of Japan’s 23 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
One of the things that I noticed is that the rope was absolutely pristine and yet these rocks are situated in the ocean with the water lapping at the tassles on every tide. I wondered how on earth they remained so clean and pristine and the answer could be found here en.japantravel.com/mie/sacred-rocks-meoto-iwa/134
'Being married, they are joined by the distinctive sacred ropes particular to Shinto shrines and holy places, made of braided rice stalks called Shimenawa. The ropes biding the two rocks weigh almost a ton, and are replaced in a special ceremony held three times a year, in May, September and December. The rope changing ceremonies are deemed important enough to make the news each time. According to Shinto legend, the islands in the Japanese archipelago were born of this couple.'
You learn something new every day. Anyhow, I hope you like the image.
Have a great Sunday everyone :D

Well what an incredible sunrise me and my three clients experienced this morning on my one day autumnal Lake District workshop at Windermere.
We were driving en-route to Rydal to shoot the tree when the colours in my minibus wing mirrors lit up with stunning pinks and blues. Without hesitation I decided to park up at Waterhead and walk down towards Holme Crag. It was an inspired choice due to the copious amounts of beautiful little boats that made for great subjects. Here's one such boat that enjoyed being surrounded by the mist that rolled on the surface of the water.
HUGE thanks to Carl, Dave and Dean for their company today. It was a really enjoyable day's photography and a quick hi to Chris Sale, a YouTube vlogger who I bumped into on the shoreline of Rydal mid-morning. It was great to chat with you Chris.
You can follow Chris's YouTube channel here and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to his channel if you like what you see. www.youtube.com/channel/UCaR849-KG86v4UgD52PLT4g
Okay, that's it for today. I will edit another image tomorrow from today's workshop and I shall make a start on my New Zealand blog including plenty of my 'yet to be seen' images. If you would like to be notified of my New Zealand blog ahead of my social media followers, please SUBSCRIBE to my newsletter by clicking on this link. Go on, it only takes thirty seconds and the best bit is that IT'S FREE.

Aurora Borealis, Hamnoy, Lofoten, Norway
WOW. What a fantastic aurora display we were treated to on Thursday evening down at Hamnoy.
My phone and those of my clients pinged when the aurora app notified us that an aurora display was imminent. So we all jumped into the minibus and drove the thirty minute journey westwards to Lofoten's most iconic location, Hamnoy and this view is the most well known on the peninsula.
Imagine our excitement when on arrival, the green lights were out in force and putting on a great show. We assembled to the usual vantage point on the road bridge and set up the cameras and started firing off shots. We were not alone as there was another group filming timelapses on their cameras but we all rejoiced in one of nature's most incredible natural shows.
I have been wanting a shot of the aurora over Hamnoy for several years now and I am genuinely delighted that I have managed to finally capture one and I am so pleased that my clients did so too.
If you are wanting to photograph the aurora borealis for yourself, come and join me in Lofoten 2nd-8th March 2024 for a superb opportunity to be dazzled by the green lights.
