He doesn't have what I'd describe as "pretty" feet.

Needs to make sure mom is still following.

"But to all these duties, more especially to that fruitful Consecration which was in a manner confirmed by the sacred solemnity of Christ the King, something else must needs be added, and it is concerning this that it is our pleasure to speak with you more at length, Venerable Brethren, on the present occasion: we mean that duty of honorable satisfaction or reparation which must be rendered to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. For if the first and foremost thing in Consecration is this, that the creature's love should be given in return for the love of the Creator, another thing follows from this at once, namely that to the same uncreated Love, if so be it has been neglected by forgetfulness or violated by offense, some sort of compensation must be rendered for the injury, and this debt is commonly called by the name of reparation...

Wherefore, even as consecration proclaims and confirms this union with Christ, so does expiation begin that same union by washing away faults, and perfect it by participating in the sufferings of Christ, and consummate it by offering victims for the brethren. And this indeed was the purpose of the merciful Jesus, when He showed His Heart to us bearing about it the symbols of the passion and displaying the flames of love, that from the one we might know the infinite malice of sin, and in the other we might admire the infinite charity of Our Redeemer, and so might have a more vehement hatred of sin, and make a more ardent return of love for His love.

And truly the spirit of expiation or reparation has always had the first and foremost place in the worship given to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus... In order that these faults might be washed away, He then recommended several things to be done, and in particular the following as most pleasing to Himself, namely that men should approach the Altar with this purpose of expiating sin, making what is called a Communion of Reparation,--and that they should likewise make expiatory supplications and prayers, prolonged for a whole hour,--which is rightly called the "Holy Hour." These pious exercises have been approved by the Church and have also been enriched with copious indulgences."

– from Pope Pius XI, 'Miserentissimus Redemptor' (On Reparation to the Sacred Heart).

This statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus stands in the esplanade in front of the Basilica of the Holy Rosary in Fatima. The monument was installed during the pontificate of Pope Pius XI whose heraldic arms are just beneath the statue.

June is the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Who needs models when you can go to the Farmer's Market in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and enjoy fantastic street photography opportunities. Today I was walking fast and just "spraying and praying" for some good shots. The musicians, like this young lady, for me, are always interesting.

I made this image with my Pentax K5 and Pentax 50-135mm lens. Processing was done in Aperture 3 and Snapseed for Macs.

HDR processing of an old Delahaye. One of the un-restored collection at the relatively new Mullin Automotive Museum. The 50,000 square foot facility, located in Oxnard, CA, was built as a homage to the art deco period, and plenty of historic artwork and furniture can be found throughout the building.

More than 100 French automobiles with names like Bugatti, Delahaye, Delage, Hispano-Suiza, Talbot-Lago and Voison can be found in the museum. Immaculate restorations are featured alongside original cars from the legendary Schlumpf Reserve Collection. A collection of race cars takes residence on the second floor in a display that mimics the Le Mans pre-WWII.

The tiniest web on the grass presented this amazing gift ... sigh.

Everything needs nurturing and care or they become withered, overgrown and die. It doesn't matter if it is an old Edo period building, an old radio, watch, camera or even relationships. It is true-- all things need upkeep and maintenance.

the day is unsettling. it's cold and it's wet; and the mist is stubborn and seems to hover; only disturbed as huddled masses hurry through.

robin is not well. a bullet still rests near her spine. and she still feels pain. she needs more treatment; but doesn't get it.

she rustles through a large trash bag of something and bends by her cart overflowing with nothing. a man stands beside and waits. then leaves.

robin's sons visited her for thanksgiving. both of them; one about 22 and the other about 35. they came from sonoma. her younger son came with a bible and a fine set of clothes. her older son came to stay.

she says that all she wants in the world is to spend time with her family and for them to be happy and to be well.

she hasn't seen her younger son since about thanksgiving. and now she's been told he just got shot in the mission. he didn't want her to know; but she found out. yet she can't find him. she tried the hospital where they bring gunshot victims from the mission. nothing.

she is visibly shaken. "how can two people in the same family be shot like this?" says, it's like the city is trying to tear us apart.

her older son came to visit earlier than his younger brother and has been staying with her on the street. he's a "builder." she tells me proudly of the homes he's worked on.

robin is originally from marin (not sonoma). she spent her early years there in a catholic convent or such. they were planning to move to marin together. she would get off methadone. it was real nice.

but "he got real ugly" and mean a few nights ago, she says. and she hasn't seen him since. he just vanished.

says it's hard. says she doesn't know what to do.

"but i must have faith" she says and seems to swallow

We're Here is visiting talents, and at this point in the night, the only talent I have is biting my own toes. Guess my yoga classes are really paying off.

No toenails were actually bitten in the making of this photo. Nail biting of any kind is a horrible, nasty, filthy habit.

Every marketplace needs a Santa booth (seriously, what are these places called? Thrones? Booths? Sit on Santa places?) and hence I couldn't resist building one for the Eurobricks Expand the Winter Village Market contest. Forgive the lack of tiling and the slopey tree, the contest asks for TLG style building.

Happy Holidays!
