My Shadow wanted to have one last appearance for the
She wanted to take advantage of the afternoon light...
Trouble is... she couldn't decide which shot she liked best...
She's as indecisive as me at times!!! %-)
On the left she was amused by these little tuffs of greenery...
She thought this looked like a Christmas Tree hat!!!
Then I think she was trying to be a teapot!
Just a bit potty if you ask me! %-)
She also spotted this lovely tree...
And decided to rest for a quiet moment with it's shadow! %-)

My Shadow thinks we ate WAY too much yesterday...
Looking at this photo... I think I'd have to agree with her! %-)

First morning light finds fences in a Mendocino vacant lot, Heider Field. There are still several large gorgeous open spaces in Mendocino and I believe all or most of them have been bought by coalitions of residents just for the purpose of keeping them open forever. This has been done to save numerous cherished pieces of land (now a total of 11,000 acres) on the Mendocino Coast and inland from whatever else may have happened if they had been publicly sold.
I"ll be gone for a couple of days to Hong Kong to renew my visa. Leaving my shadow here till I get back.

So, not being wealthy enough to fly, I have taken a 9 hour bus ride to merely cross the border into Hong Kong territory, turn around and take a bus back again. Tedious, frustrating and boring. But, recently, with easing of relations between China and Taiwan, just 10 miles away across the water, the little island of Kinmen, quite close to Xiamen which belongs to Taiwan now can accept visitors from other nations directly from here - and stamp passports. It could always be done, actually. The change is that now people are allowed to go directly from here to there.
My Shadow
By Robert Louis Stevenson 1850–1894
I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see.
He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.
The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow—
Not at all like proper children, which is always very slow;
For he sometimes shoots up taller like an india-rubber ball,
And he sometimes gets so little that there's none of him at all.
He hasn't got a notion of how children ought to play,
And can only make a fool of me in every sort of way.
He stays so close beside me, he's a coward you can see;
I'd think shame to stick to nursie as that shadow sticks to me!
One morning, very early, before the sun was up,
I rose and found the shining dew on every buttercup;
But my lazy little shadow, like an errant sleepy-head,
Had stayed at home behind me and was fast asleep in bed.

Another recent snap shot with my trusty little Samsung L77 digital compact.
Like a lot of people, I was "inspired" to get out my bike last week. This is actually on a cycle path running alongside the route (the A24 passing Denbies) that the Olympic 250km road races took the other week - though I actually got back to Leatherhead in a considerably quicker time than those cyclists. (Admittedly, they took a slightly different route.)
As you can see, my bike is of the very latest, hi-tech and aerodynamic design - unbeatable with the sort of strong following wind I had that day.
I've heard that saying before and just thought it would be sort of funny to use with the photo. Isn't Stewie handsome? He is the cat's meow to all the girl kittycats around town, I think. :o)
June 28, 2017 - "Known as "Shennv Xi" in Chinese, Goddess Stream flows from the southern bank of the Yangtze opposite Goddess Peak. Passengers board a smaller craft for a ride of about 15 kms. each way, to view the beauty of its narrow gorges. They will enjoy local folk songs and dances along the way. Once just a brook, the Three Gorges Dam raised the water level to 70-100 meters in depth, depending on the season. Surrounded by beautiful peaks, many protected species live here, including monkeys, mountain goats, deer and boar, as well as varieties of Chinese medicinal herbs. The area is also famous for its tea, named "Longevity Tea" or "Mountain Tea". Previous text from Victoria Cruises website.
