Day 21 of the December Diary 2013 Project This years Theme... 'Mirror Image Montages'...
Having another play with my Shadow...
And another attempt to share the Pohutakawa Flowers...
As mentioned in a previous post......
The Pohutakawa is referred to as New Zealands Native Christmas Tree!
They seem to have flowered early this year though...
And unfortunately I've not yet managed to find one in full bloom to share with you! %-)

My shadow reaching uphill towards the man in the middle ... and the lighthouse Reykjanesviti on top. Every size is so abstract. In reality the lighthouse is by far the biggest and my shadow definatly bigger than me ;)

Me and my Shadow
Strolling down the avenue
Me and my shadow
Not a soul to tell our troubles to
And when it's twelve o'clock
We climb the stair
We never knock
For nobody's there
Just me and my shadow
All alone and feelin' blue
And when it's twelve o'clock
We climb the stair
We never knock
For nobody's there
Just me and my shadow
All alone and feelin' blue

She wanted to take advantage of the afternoon light...
Trouble is... she couldn't decide which shot she liked best...
She's as indecisive as me at times!!! %-)
On the left she was amused by these little tuffs of greenery...
She thought this looked like a Christmas Tree hat!!!
Then I think she was trying to be a teapot!
Just a bit potty if you ask me! %-)
She also spotted this lovely tree...
And decided to rest for a quiet moment with it's shadow! %-)

First morning light finds fences in a Mendocino vacant lot, Heider Field. There are still several large gorgeous open spaces in Mendocino and I believe all or most of them have been bought by coalitions of residents just for the purpose of keeping them open forever. This has been done to save numerous cherished pieces of land (now a total of 11,000 acres) on the Mendocino Coast and inland from whatever else may have happened if they had been publicly sold.
I"ll be gone for a couple of days to Hong Kong to renew my visa. Leaving my shadow here till I get back.

So, not being wealthy enough to fly, I have taken a 9 hour bus ride to merely cross the border into Hong Kong territory, turn around and take a bus back again. Tedious, frustrating and boring. But, recently, with easing of relations between China and Taiwan, just 10 miles away across the water, the little island of Kinmen, quite close to Xiamen which belongs to Taiwan now can accept visitors from other nations directly from here - and stamp passports. It could always be done, actually. The change is that now people are allowed to go directly from here to there.
