Check out the original regulation colors on the mudroom floor! We can't wait to restore this space. The Northwest Schooner Society has taken on the historical preservation of the Burrows Island Light Station. Finally found those chalk "ink" pens. Much better to write on these walls. Still.... they erase terribly.

Ceiling pain has been cut in (despite not being fully primed). Door has not been replaced yet. Corner moulding has not been finished.

Mom and Dad saturniid moths on our mudroom window. I couldn't decide on the species - either the Prometheus moth or the Tulip Tree Silk moth. Whatsthatbug.com says the former, so there you have it. (Great website by the way). They are lovely creatures with wingspans ~ 4 inches. Sometimes beauty is ephemeral - these moths only live as adults a few days once they emerge from their pupas, and they mate and die a few days later. They cannot even eat as adults.
