Mount Hunter or Begguya is a mountain in Denali National Park in Alaska. It is approximately eight miles (13 km) south of Denali, the highest peak in North America. "Begguya" means "Child of Denali" in the Dena'ina language. Mount Hunter is the third-highest major peak in the Alaska Range.

Despite being much lower in elevation than Denali Mount Hunter is a more difficult climb, due to its steep faces and corniced ridges; it also sees far less traffic than its larger neighbor.

Some wider comps in comments.

One of the Sawtooth's most spectacular peaks catching early morning light with mists rising from Stanley Lake. A fine way to start a day.

Enjoy a wonderful Autumn weekend!

Mt. Robson (3,954 m = 12,972 ft), is also known as "Cloud Cap Mountain" and by climbers as the "Great White Fright."

With 2,975 m (9,760 ft) elevation gain from the valley floor below it is a difficult challenge for those brave enough to climb it.

One of many remarkable peaks of the Canadian Rockies.

Happy Friday!

Rock face to the setting sun was dyed red.

When it was in previous years, the mountain would have been stained pink with snow.

Mount Drum (12,010 ft; 3,660 m) is a stratovolcano, located in the far west side of the Wrangell Mountains, on the western edge of Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park. It dominates the surrounding landscape, rising 6,710 ft (2,050 m) above the tundra.

When I first drove south by here I couldn't see the lake, much less the peak, due to heavy rains. Didn't know what I was missing. Sure glad I was able to see this impressive sight when I returned north.

Seen from Willow Lake.

Mount Hood, called Wy'east by the Multnomah tribe, is a potentially active stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc of northern Oregon. It is the highest point in Oregon, 11,249 ft (3,429 m), and the fourth highest in the Cascade Range.

Something we folks that live within the shadows of the Cascades keep in mind:

Mt. Hood is considered the Oregon volcano most likely to erupt, though based on its history, an explosive eruption is unlikely. Still, the odds of an eruption in the next 30 years are estimated at between 3 and 7 percent, so the U.S. Geological Survey characterizes it as "potentially active." Mt. St. Helens comes to mind...

Regardless I'm looking forward to spending some time at Mt. Hood's bigger brother, Mt. Rainier, this summer.

Another one of the thousands (OK hundreds) of amazing peaks one sees in Kananaskis Country.

The Kananaskis river flows below on it's way to join the Bow river east of Canmore.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Have a wonderful week!

First light on Idaho's Mt. Heyburn rising above Little Redfish Lake.

Mount Heyburn, at 10,229 feet (3,118 m) is one of the many 10,000-foot (3,050 m) peaks in the Sawtooth Range of central Idaho.

A wonderful sunny day in Alberta's Kananaskis Country with Mt. Nestor rising majestically in the distance. The air was so fresh and sweet.

Back from my family visit. Father enjoyed a wonderful 90th. Thank you for the gracious wishes. We appreciated them.

Enjoy a terrific Thursday!

Fall foliage along the Elk River with Mt. Fernie in the distance. The Three Sisters of BC on the right.

Great hiking and skiing around Fernie BC.

Thanks for taking a look! Always appreciated.

Standing at 12,281 feet (3,743 m), Adams towers about 9,800 feet (3,000 m) over the surrounding countryside. It is the second-highest mountain in Washington and third-highest in the Cascade Range.

One of my favorite peaks (true, I have hundreds of favorites peaks......). I've probably spent more time admiring Mt. Sinopah though, and it's spectacular surroundings, than any other peak. Whenever I'm in Glacier Park camping here is a priority.

and Mt. Adams from the plane.

I always love seeing the PNW volcanoes from the air. I got some decent shots of Rainier thru the plane window, too.

This was taken on my way up to Alaska to be with my kids and grandkids for a few days

Wish there had been some clouds in the sky, but it was not to be.

Mt Baker also known as Koma Kulshan or simply Kulshan, is an active glaciated andesitic stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington in the United States. (Wikipedia)

We had lots of changing weather including sunshine and hail. Mt Washington was often hidden in clouds but on this day a vivid partial rainbow appeared while Mt Washington crept out from under mixed clouds. The photo was taken looking west from the town of Sisters, Oregon. When viewed from the north, that sharp peak looks like the Matterhorn. The 7795 ft volcano last erupted about 1,350 years ago.

Looking west from the David Thompson Highway (Alberta Hwy 11) at this huge mountain that dominates the terrain around Banff's Saskatchewan Crossing.

View from my hill in Washington across the valley I'm looking at Mt Hood. above W.S.U. campus during early morning foggy sunrise...

I posted a pic yesterday of some of the ramparts that stretch out on the edges of massive Mt. Wilson. Thought I'd provide a wider view to better show how huge and formidable this mountain is. Seen from the David Thompson Highway as I near Banff's Saskatchewan Crossing.

Mount Wilson honors Tom Wilson (1859–1933) who was an early explorer in the Canadian Rockies. An early traveller wrote, "I don't like Mount Wilson. I once travelled around its base for two days and it seemed as though I should never get away from it."

Mountains and their ecosystems are my primary fascination and subject. My Cathedrals. I'm blessed to live where I do with some of the finest peaks in the world within a days drive.

Thanks for taking a peak peek!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mt Wellington, Tasmania.

Mt. Adams rises to the north of the Hood River Valley, fronted by a balsamroot covered hillside.

After traveling up a long and winding dirt road, in Eastern Washington State, that only 4wheel drive will take you through I found myself on top of a ridge and this is what appeared behind me.

Oh how I love mountains!

This one captured during the blue hour, shot @ 400mm. The scale of it can be appreciated if you look for the pine trees that are growing on the lower right hand side
