Mount Hunter or Begguya is a mountain in Denali National Park in Alaska. It is approximately eight miles (13 km) south of Denali, the highest peak in North America. "Begguya" means "Child of Denali" in the Dena'ina language. Mount Hunter is the third-highest major peak in the Alaska Range.

Despite being much lower in elevation than Denali Mount Hunter is a more difficult climb, due to its steep faces and corniced ridges; it also sees far less traffic than its larger neighbor.

When it was in previous years, the mountain would have been stained pink with snow.

Mount Drum (12,010 ft; 3,660 m) is a stratovolcano, located in the far west side of the Wrangell Mountains, on the western edge of Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park. It dominates the surrounding landscape, rising 6,710 ft (2,050 m) above the tundra.

When I first drove south by here I couldn't see the lake, much less the peak, due to heavy rains. Didn't know what I was missing. Sure glad I was able to see this impressive sight when I returned north.

Seen from Willow Lake.

"Mount Sanford (16,237 feet; 4,949 m) is a shield volcano in the Wrangell Volcanic Field, in eastern Alaska near the Copper River. It is the third highest volcano in the United States behind Mount Bona and Mount Blackburn. The south face of the volcano, at the head of the Sanford Glacier, rises 8,000 feet in 1 mile resulting in one of the steepest gradients in North America."

Mount Hood, called Wy'east by the Multnomah tribe, is a potentially active stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc of northern Oregon. It is the highest point in Oregon, 11,249 ft (3,429 m), and the fourth highest in the Cascade Range.

Something we folks that live within the shadows of the Cascades keep in mind:

Mt. Hood is considered the Oregon volcano most likely to erupt, though based on its history, an explosive eruption is unlikely. Still, the odds of an eruption in the next 30 years are estimated at between 3 and 7 percent, so the U.S. Geological Survey characterizes it as "potentially active." Mt. St. Helens comes to mind...

Regardless I'm looking forward to spending some time at Mt. Hood's bigger brother, Mt. Rainier, this summer.

Stopped by Mt. Shuksan on our way home from Canada to check on the fall colors and it looks like we hit it at the right time.

We go there every year. Never get tired of this beautiful place.

Every year we take a trip to the North Cascade Mountains to visit Mt. Shuksan, both for the fall colors and for the reflections.

It's never the same, and it never gets boring.

This time when we were there, the colors were nice, But I wished there had been some nice, puffy clouds in the blue sky.

Still, I was not disappointed with the view!

A wonderful sunny day in Alberta's Kananaskis Country with Mt. Nestor rising majestically in the distance. The air was so fresh and sweet.

Back from my family visit. Father enjoyed a wonderful 90th. Thank you for the gracious wishes. We appreciated them.

Enjoy a terrific Thursday!

The Kananaskis River flows below Mt. Lorette on it's way to join the Bow River.

Thanks for your visit! Much appreciated.

Standing at 12,281 feet (3,743 m), Adams towers about 9,800 feet (3,000 m) over the surrounding countryside. It is the second-highest mountain in Washington and third-highest in the Cascade Range.

One of my favorite peaks (true, I have hundreds of favorites peaks......). I've probably spent more time admiring Mt. Sinopah though, and it's spectacular surroundings, than any other peak. Whenever I'm in Glacier Park camping here is a priority.

Mt Hood can be seen everywhere unlike my last image of Hood nested in Evergreen trees this is another side seen from the vast Orchards on our visit to the town of Hood River..the landscapes were gorgeous & all those fruit trees, can't wait til harvest.

Thanks for your visit, have a wonderful day!

I always love seeing the PNW volcanoes from the air. I got some decent shots of Rainier thru the plane window, too.

Mt Baker also known as Koma Kulshan or simply Kulshan, is an active glaciated andesitic stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington in the United States. (Wikipedia)

We had lots of changing weather including sunshine and hail. Mt Washington was often hidden in clouds but on this day a vivid partial rainbow appeared while Mt Washington crept out from under mixed clouds. The photo was taken looking west from the town of Sisters, Oregon. When viewed from the north, that sharp peak looks like the Matterhorn. The 7795 ft volcano last erupted about 1,350 years ago.

I posted a pic yesterday of some of the ramparts that stretch out on the edges of massive Mt. Wilson. Thought I'd provide a wider view to better show how huge and formidable this mountain is. Seen from the David Thompson Highway as I near Banff's Saskatchewan Crossing.

Mount Wilson honors Tom Wilson (1859–1933) who was an early explorer in the Canadian Rockies. An early traveller wrote, "I don't like Mount Wilson. I once travelled around its base for two days and it seemed as though I should never get away from it."

Mountains and their ecosystems are my primary fascination and subject. My Cathedrals. I'm blessed to live where I do with some of the finest peaks in the world within a days drive.

Thanks for taking a peak peek!

Have a wonderful weekend!
