***** UPDATE - I think that some people are mistaking this for a "normal" fall color image. Although it was taken in the fall, almost all of the yellow-orange color in the scene was, in reality, green. The infrared processing is what changed the color *****

No, those aren't Larches - this is a color Infrared image of Mt. Garfield from the Middle Fork Trail. Coming in from the left is the Taylor River, emptying into the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River. I know color Infrared isn't for everyone, but it's fun once in a while. Full Spectrum converted camera (by Life-Pixel) with an external Super Color Infrared (590nm) filter.

The south side of Mt. Rainier lit by a bank of 60 large handheld spotlights in the side road to Ricksecker Point on July 30, 2005, on the road to Paradise. Distance from the spotlight location to the peak is 5 miles. Based on what I know of photo history, this might be the world's largest artificially-lit photograph in terms of distance and land area. Background stars on the left are Ursa Major; on the right, Camelopardis. Light pollution from the Puget Sound area shows on the left horizon. The foreground buildings are maintenance facilities for the National Park Service at Paradise. Thanks to Thomas Powers for funding half the spotlights!!!

Mt. Diablo Beacon Sunday night. This beacon will be lit to honor all who are on the front lines of the panedemic until it's over. Normally it's only lit on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

I parked my truck at Artist Point around Mt. Baker two nights ago to catch the sunrise. It was well worth it.

This is the best place to see Mt. Bandai from Goshikinuma. There was less snow and the outline of Mt. Bandai was clearly visible.
