It's been ages since I've taken a sunset picture. My friend and I were driving down the freeway near Lodi after a day of bird photography when we saw this gorgeous sunset. We zipped off the freeway and pulled over and after a minute or so, it was past the peak. So glad we caught it!

OTD post from 2021:

We left CLNP in the south and drove to Hood River up north.

Mt Hood dominates the landscape in the northern half of the state. HFF!

Have a great week ahead my friends. :-)

Kalmia latifolia, commonly called mountain laurel, calico-bush, or spoonwood, is a broadleaved evergreen shrub in the heather family, Ericaceae, that is native to the eastern United States.

I saw another color of such flowers today, glad I took a shot.

I finally escaped from the BC smoke out and headed up to see my old friend Mt. Shuksan. There was still a little smoke haze around, but at least I could breath again and Picture Lake was picture perfect as always..... For as heavily as this place is visited, I was just about the only one there....

Late fall when most of the snow pack has melted leaving Mt. Hood pretty much bare bones..no white coat until it snowed 24" that night The wondrous part is the evergreen forest stays green all year.

Thank you for your visit and comments, appreciate it!

We spent a long Easter weekend in New Zealand's stunning MacKenzie Country area. This is an image of Mt Sefton as we are approaching the carpark for the Hooker Valley walk. This is a 5 image stitched pano (50% overlap) taken hand-held in portrait orientation with my 105mm Sigma prime. Each of the 5 images is a set of 3 exposure bracketed images. I pre-processed the RAW images in DxO PhotoLab. Followed by creating 5 exposure stacked images and stitched into a pano using Affinity Photo.

Woke up early to get a sunrise on Mt sinai, but the sun decided to sleep in, so it came up late over the clouds. There was a lot of dust in the air too which gave it a Mars feel to it. One of the things I enjoyed most about the Sinai was the loud silence!

Photo taken from the Pinal Mountains in AZ. Mt. Turnbull is the highest point on the San Carlos Apache Rez at 8282'. I like the intricate topography in this shot.

Starting to get a bit cooler here so doing what any level-headed beach lover would do today - heading off to Fiji for a holiday. Last time I was in Fiji was 2005 with 3 kids in tow. Now we will be with a granddaughter, how quickly the circle of life turns!

This photo isn't Fiji btw. I was looking to see if I had any Fiji shots to post but I wasn't into photography back then. So here's a shot from New Zealand instead. In my defence we are all South Pacific Islands ;) This photo is of Mt Maunganui, the mount itself and the town nestled under it. It is located in the Bay of Plenty region and connected to the city of Tauranga on the mainland, via a man-made land bridge.

Unfortunately we didn't have time to walk around, or up the Mount as we had to jump a bus to Rotorua where geothermal delights were waiting for us, you know boiling mud pools, toxic sulphur pools, exploding hot water geysers and the like, all the regular stuff ;) Was a great day except for maybe the end where I was one of half a dozen visitors "randomly" selected to get up in front of hundreds of visitors and perform a Haka with some Māori warriors. At least I'm good at pulling faces. Why is it always me?

Anyway, I must get back there one day, and if I do, I'll post a photo from Fiji before I go :)

Mt. Bachelor is one of the most popular ski destinations in the Pacific Northwest.

"Mount Bachelor, formerly named Bachelor Butte, is a stratovolcano atop a shield volcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc of central Oregon. Mount Bachelor is so called because it "stands apart" from the Three Sisters (below), a group of three volcanic mountains that are northwest of Mount Bachelor."

Have a wonderful week!

2 versions today, Mt Hood at sunrise in autumn, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Happy holidays in advance.

Alpine glow and shadow of ridge as sun begins to set at 6:58 pm. Time is noted because by 7:04 pm clouds in the west had blocked the setting sun from view. More photos to come.

Alignment was adjusted to put high points on mt. directly above their reflection. Curvature of pool's shoreline makes it look off.
