I stop by here periodically, and this weekend I saw that the little store is still for rent. For those who missed my first few postings, it is an old general store/gas station that was photographed by FSA photographer Marion Post Wolcott in 1939.

Mosquito Lake, in Alpine County, CA is an amazing, mirror-surfaced body of water at 8,000 ft on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada Range (Pacific Grade). It is accessible only in the warmest months of the year, the highway being closed by snow rest of the time. The rustic hunting cottages are National Forest Recreation Residences.
