With reports from both TX and FL that domestic cases of malaria have been reported, I celebrate our backyard mosquito control. I believe this is a Blue Dasher (Pachydiplax longipennis) perched on the dried seed pods of a Dark columbine. Insect eyes are so intriguing.

I had no idea they drank anything but blood, my blood in particular!

CP F13-20 rounds the curve at the former BAR gravel pit, which is known as Mosquito Mountain on 12/20/2021.

My son and I wanted to stick around for more sunset action but were being eaten by mosquitos, this is as much sunset as we could manage :)

An effective mosquito repellent is needed when taking pictures in the Everglades :-)

Not very big and glad he was not trying to get blood from me.

This started off to be a chainsaw, it gradually changed into something like a bug. Im reminded of the early summer, clearing our used trails. Working out in late May, early June and dealing with mosquitoes and black flies.
