Head Modification Contest Entry #1 at PNW BJD Expo 2016

Contestants were required to do a head modification + faceup based on the theme of PNW BJD Expo 2016: BJD Comic-Con

Getting on with manufacturing of the left and side footpeg! The center punch is very useful for drilling purposes (probably it's only purpose).

All makeup and tattoo added free-hand.

I drilled the heatsink for 8-32 bolts. The holes are out near the edge to minimize heat transfer between the hot and cold sides.

well, this is my third pinhole role... STILL BLURRY!!! but i still like this one.in the fight Me VS. Pinhole--- me= 0 . pinhole=3

The wider aluminium tubes require some trimming of all plastics

I had to break 2 pipes off of the front in order to remove the smokebox front for detailing and decaling. I managed to reuse one of the pipes but the other was a total loss so I got some brass rod, rerouted it slightly and...............done, ride complete!

Sadly I am probably stuck with this forever but maybe in time I'll have 100 bad tattoos instead of 1 for people to harp on :D

While renovating the roof of the country house i saw these and they matched my design concept for wider footpegs perfectly, especially because they were free :) In Swedish these are called rännkrokar and that would directly translate to gutter brackets.

From first glance I knew I wanted to get this. But the gap on the canopy was unacceptable! The other mods were just my preference. Plus I added a crew.

Pre-cutting modifications: shortened waist 1.5 cm. I cut a size 2.

Post-cutting modifications: lowered armscye underarm 1/4"; took in/reshaped centre back seam 2" and back princess seams 1" each

An artwork intended to spread knowledge of 'Cultural Tree Modification', an ancient method of harvesting wood that does not take the life of a tree. Modified Thuja plicata (Western Red Cedar Trees) have lived 2000+ with ongoing harvests.

Considering the crisis of forestry over-harvesting around the world, and the increased global demand for wood products, knowledge of alternative forestry practice should be spread in hopes of finding new solutions in the future. Ancient wisdoms can help us ponder these issues and provide real insight into the care of the Earth's forest bio-mass and ecosystems.

Although only 4 people were present during this bark harvest, photo media documentation of this work had an audience of thousands through social media.

Albertus is a typeface designed by Berthold Wolpe, a German Jewish designer, in the late 1930s. This decade was a period of great uncertainty and danger for Jews in Europe. Wolpe’s font was influenced by Rudolph Koch, his mentor, a prolific type designer and German nationalist. Koch’s influence is evident in the Albertus letterforms. With tapering ends and elegant strokes, the font reads similarly to one of Koch’s attempts to celebrate and modernize German blackletter.

In my typeface modification, showcased in the following spreads and posters, I explored the font’s quality of (and perhaps Wolpe's desire to) “fitting in” with its German influence and heritage. I took visual cues from the tapering ends and humanist strokes to exaggerate the gestures of the letterforms, creating a drastically different alphabet that breaks with the rigidity of its origins and forms something entirely new. I also use the spreads to examine Wolpe’s story and modern refugee narratives as they relate to Passover, a holiday with major resonance in Jewish history: the importance of fighting for freedom, resilience in the face of oppression, and the contrast between living in a place where you are not accepted as opposed to a place where you are welcomed.

The project is a printed book, but spreads and documentation are viewable at zachscheinfeld.com/Albertus-Modification

Buahahah. Took a while to get the science down on this.
