This one is based upon a few concepts, some from folklore, some from fiction (like the Dresden Files), and some from the role playing game Mage: the Ascension. I did it in a bronze finish over all because some folk lore states that iron is a bane to all forms of magical folk. I added a bit of a metallic blue and purple sheen in order to make it appear to have some enchantment upon it. I added symbols from Alchemy to make it look enspelled (and also as an homage to Mage: the Ascension which uses those symbols as well). I did the symbols in metallic purple with hints of metallic blue because I didn't want them to stand out unless the light was hitting them the right way and also made them purposely a bit smudgy so that they almost appear to be floating above the surface of the metal rather than as part of it (especially when the light is right!)
This is a photograph from the 2nd round of the 2015 Mullingar Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 13th May 2015 at 20:00. The weather was much better this week for running with nice bright sunshine and little or no breeze. As it turned out this made the course considerably quicker with many runners recording faster times than the 1st round race. This year's 5KM is ran on a modified route based on the route from the last couple of years. The final 1KM is within the Belvedere Gardens bringing runners down to the lakeside for a second time and finishing along the aptly named Stream Of Life. The route modification means that the race offers a slightly faster route than the hill finish of previous years.
The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 4 races in May (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. Runners can also choose to just run one race without being considered for the overall league placings. Over 360 people took part in tonight's event. As with last week the new finish area provided a nice space for runners to stay around and chat in the evening sunshine. The Mullingar Road League 2015 is now half-way through and has continued successfully and looks to add to the success in the history of this great series. Despite the bright evenings the photographic conditions in Belevedere are difficult so this photograph is part of a smaller than usual photograph set as there were many blurred photographs this evening.
The "Road League" is something of a misnomer but is an indication of the League's origins on the roads around Ladestown Mullingar prior to it's move into Belvedere in 2008. The Road League is the envy of many other races in the country as the Belvedere locations offers a completely traffic free 5KM route.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. My second attempt to make a fake Russian military helmet, suitable for airsoft.
This Alpina Cobra snowboarding helmet was described as 'retro' looking, but it is ideal for 'faking' a Russian style military helmet.
It's 'spherical' in design, but not completely rounded - with the more vertical sides that are typical of one of the main Russian helmet types.

I got to stand on this horribly small ladder and sneak my camera over the wall to take pictures of the procedure. But since I couldn't see a thing, with me being small, I borrowed platform shoes that were a couple of sizes too small. They helped, I could see a bit more but they hurt my feet.
by giving a hinge and the slopey window piece, and moving the piece that was there in the set inside a stud, you have a working boot, and the suitcase fits in there, not slipping around, almost as if it was made for this mod.
A bit tricky at some points, but looks like 100% success. Sample IR coming...
A big thanks to guys at Vancouver Telescope Centre for letting me borrow there repair room. it has little dust lots of light, and very quiet, so i could concentrate!
A series of photos taken in and around the Wholesale District of Downtown Los Angeles, CA. This series attempts to create a portrait of the area through an examination of the architecture and other man-made "modifications" to the area.
Modifying a Velo Orange Polyvalent disc fork to accept a SON SL dynowheel -- the dropout is too small to drill holes for the plugs in a SON insulating plate, so I instead ground down the inside face of the DS dropout, epoxied a insulating plate to it (after cutting off the plugs and sanding the back face flat), then used rubber cement to glue the contact plate into the insulator.

The bulkhead mods aren't finished yet, but its just for sizing it. After I've removed the engine I'll clean it up a lot.

Not sure if I will ever do an additive mod again, it was very intense!
When “difference” turns “normal”, there is always room for individual choices and deviations.
I took this picture in the Lecturers’ common room at the Department of Public Relations & Communication in Cephalonia, Greece, where I teach. Yorgos Georgas (23 yeas old), a student of mine, comes from a family where tattooing and piercing is the norm rather than a deviation. His 3 uncles were pioneers of the body modification movement in Greece and he never had anybody criticize or oppose his choices. Having reached adulthood at 21 and determined to give his mark with a sui generis procedure Yorgos also considered scarification, but finally opted for the procedure of branding that involves burning with a branding iron. Having decided on the method he was less sure about the message he wanted to brand, so he opted for “Bagy”, his nickname since middle school.

Use magnet to keep chuck key.
This works well, because receive just enough entertainment from the magnet that I never forget to remove the chuck key from the chuck.
These magnets were taken out of an abandoned hard drive which, like most things i deal with, was found on the streets for free.
